There is an intimacy and a quiet charm associated with a winter wedding. Any bride-to-be who has woken up to the first snowfall, anticipating a day cocooned in wedding warmth knows what I am talking about. Seeing your breath crystallize on the air…watching the spidery frost climb the corners of each windows…or watching water beads transform into amazing crystal prisms in the sunlight. It is all an amazing part of nature that not everyone has the opportunity to experience.
A winter wedding allows you to travel so many different directions with your design aesthetics. A crisp white and silver design is elegant and enchanting, while boughs of pine and evergreen bring in the scents we associate with the first snowfall. I love how this wonderful winter design is captured beautifully by IN Photography. It has the combined essence of a crisp, white winter wedding and the first signs of spring. The bright, shocking colors and simple flower motif are a wonderful contrast to the crisp white snow. I love the use of the bright colors during winter and this couple’s focus on the color rather than the season gives us a gorgeous design that will transcend the season. Winter weddings do not need to focus on Christmas – instead, take advantage of the clean slate winter offers.
The faux fur wrap that warms the bride’s shoulders and the custom moccasin-style boots really show a sense of personal style. I especially love how the profusion of fuchsia, orange, and yellow are present in the flowers, invitations, escort cards, and other elements.
The use of different floral containers offers a great eclectic feel. The knotty pine walls and floors of the lodge venue are stoic backdrops for the brightly colored floral wreaths hanging all around. Emphasize the lodge feel by serving hot cocoa and marshmallows. Winter is also a great time to consider a signature cocktail – such as a hot toddy, spiked hot chocolate, or an eggnog martini. You’ll warm your guests’ toes from the inside out.
