The Inspiration

Though my husband and I met and fell in love in Charleston, we definitely didn’t want to go the traditional Southern wedding route. I’d call our theme mid-century mod meets tropical chic.

We had boho lounge vignettes that spoke to our elegant, but laid back, free-flowing atmosphere of the evening. There was no assigned seating (with the exception of the head table). I wanted guests to move throughout the space freely so there wasn’t that stuffy sit-down dinner feeling.

The Love Story

Ryan and I met in Charleston in 2013. He walked me home from the iconic hot dog stand that was always on Ann Street after a night out with my friends and the rest is basically history. 4 years later, Ryan popped the question at end of the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation and from that point forward, we knew getting married in Charleston wasn’t even a question. With multiple moves throughout their relationship, Ryan and Caitlin agree that love is a journey, hence the theme of their wedding favors.

Personal Wedding Touches

Our dogs are family, so naturally, the dogs were our honorary ring bearers. Cowboy and Sully were also the names of our signature cocktail drinks that night.

Of course, we had to bury the bottle of Bourbon. Digging it up was probably one of the biggest highlights of the day by far. With the gorgeous sunset that night, I’d have to say we lucked out.

The wooden tables by Snyder had black and white Aztec table runners my mom handmade for us and the beautiful drapery swags had the same fabric embedded into the tie backs of our tent poles done by Social Spool.

A Day Of Calligraphy

Our amazing calligraphy gal, Bree Moore, created our welcome bag design, which had your lovely Charleston Mag inside for guests when they arrived in Charleston to give them a taste of the area. She also created the “Straight Outta CHS” pineapple logo I had screen printed on each bridesmaid’s jacket. She also did all the acrylic signs featured.

Beautiful Wedding Gift

One of the groomsmen, whose an amazing carpenter, custom built our bed swing we hung by the trees by the water as our wedding gift. That’s something we hold really near and dear to our heart and will go on the front porch of our house one day.
