She Had Chemo At Her Wedding And Wanted A Redo

Share

This bride redid all of her wedding photos on her 3rd anniversary

After being sick on her wedding day, this bride decided that for their 3 year anniversary, they were going to redo their wedding photos to celebrate! Not only was she feeling better, but her chemotherapy treatments were finally over (yay!) so her and her husband got dressed up one more time for a wedding redo they won’t ever forget.

As a wedding coordinator herself, this bride went all out making sure her redo was memorable and perfect. From her stunning dress and bouquet to an adorable first look and dessert after. She was finally able to have the day she always dreamed of with her best friend by her side. Read more about her experience below, and check out their gorgeous photos in the full gallery from Zha Zha Design

what happened on her wedding day

From the bride: I am a Wedding Coordinator and married my husband, Erick on April 3rd, 2015. However, during our 11-month engagement, I was diagnosed with Vasculitis, a rare autoimmune disease, that made our engagement not-so-fun. On our wedding day, I was two weeks out of a chemotherapy treatment and two weeks away from another. I was not feeling well and could not hug and embrace my guests due to my immune system being compromised. While my family and friends did their very best to ensure I had a great day, it wasn’t the day I had dreamed of.

the “perfect” redo

Fast forward three years, my disease is more under control and I’m no longer on the chemotherapy treatments. I didn’t have my “ideal” wedding day and decided that we should re-take our wedding photos! I was quite impressed with my idea and wanted to make sure I had the most “perfect” re-do. I got another dress, Erick purchased a new suit, I had a bouquet made, my make-up and hair done, a dessert made, and had a photographer friend take our wedding photo re-takes on our 3rd wedding anniversary!

Unforgettable day

To make the shoot even more special, I decided to do a first look! We didn’t do one on our actual wedding day, but wanted to incorporate a few fun and different details. I followed through with this shoot because who says you can’t do a re-do?! I felt like the most beautiful bride and had an amazing time. While I will never get my wedding day back, I will always remember my special 3rd wedding anniversary and re-taking my wedding photos. That’s a pretty great story to share with our future little ones!

The sweetest treat

I wanted this day to be just as special for Erick as it was for me. So, I decided to do something really sweet for Erick as he has served as a constant source of support and love throughout this whole journey. He didn’t get a chance to eat the cake at our wedding because he was so worried about making sure I was alright, so I had handmade macaroons made and surprised him! He absolutely loved them and ate them before we left the venue.
