This Wedding Photographer Had a Dream Garden Ranch Wedding

Share

Elegant outdoor wedding

When a wedding photographer gets married, you know it’s going to be a beautiful, detailed-filled day! Laura and her now hubby, Paul tied the knot in style at the picturesque McCormick Home Ranch in California. Rachel, one part of a mother-daughter wedding photography team wanted her day to be picture perfect and hired a talented team of vendors to bring her garden ranch vision to life.

Her wedding featured just about EVERY detail you can have – from custom bridesmaid robes to monogrammed cookies and coffee, Laura infused her day with everything she loved (including her two adorable pups). See the entire day below, and soak up every last detail in the full gallery captured by Amy & Jordan.

A memorable day

From Any & Jordan: We’d been looking forward to Rachel and Paul’s McCormick Home Ranch wedding for as long as we can remember; and, for so many reasons, we know it’s one that we’ll never forget. Rachel is the daughter half of a dynamic Gilmore Girls-esque mother-daughter wedding photography team from Monterey, California. She and her mom, Laura, attended one of our first photography workshops two years ago in our hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona, and now they’re running a successful business themselves.

DIY what you love, hire professionals for the rest

From the bride: My now husband and I have both worked in the wedding industry so we knew pretty much everything we were getting ourselves into. We are firm believers in hiring professionals to do their job and not taking on too many DIY projects, after all, that’s what we’ve all told our clients before. We did keep some projects to ourselves though. My husband handmade the Monogrammed Wall (besides the actual monogram) and also the Place Seating Wall with shelves as well, but he genuinely likes building things so those were fun projects we designed and built together.

We wanted to involve our two dogs in the wedding because dogs are super important to us so I got these big floral wreaths for them to wear around their neck. The German Shepherd would not have it (as I kind of expected), but instead of throwing a fit or breaking down, all that was important to me was that I got good pictures of them with the floral wreaths on and I did!

wedding insurance: yay or nay?

Get wedding insurance. I know it costs more money, and you don’t physically get something, and it just feels like not a necessity because you’re paying so much money for everything else, but we can’t stress how important it is. We got it right away especially with planning a wedding that was going to be all outdoors, and as much as it hurt to feel like we were paying for nothing, you get so much peace of mind from it. Why spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on one single day and not buy an insurance plan that could be a couple hundred up front, but could save you from losing thousands and thousands more?

My dress did end up tearing towards the end of the evening after our First Dance because there were lots of layers of materials, so I was really glad I had bought a “getaway” dress that ended up being my “reception” dress. Plus, it was a warm day and the entire wedding was outside so it was nice to change into something lighter.
