Weddings are all about bringing your A-game and pulling out all the stops for this one big celebration, but what if that’s not really your style? This next couple shows us that going big may just refer to the size of the Jenga set and board games you have a available for your guests to enjoy during your relaxed and wedding reception.
But don’t think for a minute that this wedding was without some style, our bride and groom expertly wove their love of the easy going bohemian vibe with the upscale garden that was their venue. Even before we were officially engaged we had started talking about what we’d want our wedding to look like. Originally we thought we’d want something more casual and low-key. But then my sister and I realized we could get married at the Lewis & Clark Estate Gardens when we were driving by it one day and James and I loved the idea. Lewis & Clark is essentially in my parents backyard and it is a very sentimental location for me and my family. My siblings and I grew up walking through the campus, playing with our dogs, and in the ravine between our house and the campus. Turns out James used to swim in their (freezing cold) pool as a kid with his grandmother so we became determined to book our wedding there.
The garden is so beautiful and really drove the aesthetic for the wedding, especially the green, coral and blue. The color scheme reflect the natural surroundings of the garden and the beautiful skyline. The garden definitely gives off a very elegant vibe and we consider ourselves more the “casual cool” types so we thought the boho look would would be a perfect blend of the more swanky garden vibe and our laid back attitudes.
We knew we wanted really good food and a crazy dance party. We wanted there to be a good flow to the evening and to give our guests a lot of options (like games and a “lounge” area) so they could move around the gardens throughout the reception.
