Consider having a first look

From the bride: We were really adamant on not doing first look because we really wanted to have that special moment between the two of us when I started to walk down the aisle. That moment was indeed special and one we will never forget; however, looking back I now understand why people do it. The day does go by pretty quickly and I would have loved to have taken more time to capture a few more photos with our bridal party, and each other in different settings. Don’t get me wrong, I loved how everything turned out but I may have chosen differently now knowing how fast the day goes.

Soak in every moment

Make sure to enjoy the entire process from the day you say “yes” to the actual wedding day. This is truly a magical time in your life so make sure to take your time and soak up all of the pieces. There are a lot of moving parts and it is easy to become overwhelmed, but remember this is a celebration of your love with your significant other, so soak it all in and appreciate all those involved and around you, loving on you and supporting you.

DIY to stay in budget

My brother collected empty wine bottles and corks for us and my mom then soaked and spray painted the wine bottles and we used them as flower holders for the centerpieces on the dinner tables. They turned out beautifully and just as we envisioned. We used the wine corks as holders for our escort cards as well. We also had a family friend who did all of our signage and another friend that made all of are welcome bags. These things all added up and really helped us save a lot on decor and design. Etsy was also a big friend of ours. There are many talented artists on Etsy that are affordable! I would say where you want to spend your money is different for everyone so the most important part in budgeting is identifying what is important to the two of you.
