Harry Potter Inspiration
Amy Richardson and the team at Legacy Farms took excellent care of us, providing everything we needed for our intimate wedding. Amy was able to take our Harry Potter ideas and interpret them in a way that was not only significant to us, but also beautiful and timeless, starting with our rich color palette of purple, maroon, and gold.
Wizarding details
Some of the things we incorporated from the wizarding world include: three floral rings at the ceremony altar to represent quidditch goals; deer antlers on the table for Harry’s patronus; old books in the centerpiece like those in the Hogwarts library; small, brown bud vases resembling potion bottles, a Maurader’s map inspired invitation suite cleverly designed by Designs in Paper; a candy table complete with golden Snitch chocolates and Bertie Bott’s every-flavored beans; freshly picked radishes resembling screaming mandrakes; an “always” sign on the backs of our chairs; owl feathers tucked into my bouquet and his boutonniere; and last but not least, hanging tapered candles that mimicked the floating candles hanging in the great hall….all of this was on the rustic pier with the stage perfectly set by the gorgeous magical draping from Party Patrol Entertainment.
A nod to English heritage
We also had nods to the boy wizard’s English heritage with our food, serving a traditionally British fish and chips appetizer, as well as a butter beer concoction. Over all, it was a perfect day for our wedding of only 11 people, including us. We had a brief but sweet ceremony lead by Nashville wedding minister Ralph Griggs, then enjoyed an incredibly delicious dinner by A Catered Affair, followed by an equally delicious cake from Wolfe Gourmet Cakes.

My favorite thing about our wedding was how subtle all our Harry Potter items were, turning my vision of a Harry Potter themed wedding into a Harry Potter inspired wedding. To a non-HP fan, it might seem like a beautiful but average wedding. But to us, all the subtle touches made it perfectly us.
