Vintage Cottage Wedding with Romantic Details and Soft Colors

Share

Bride and groom share a moment in the forest on wedding day

This next wedding will add a little prep to your step and a whole lot of love in you heart. With vintage details and soft colors, the bride was inspired by her families 117 year old cottage for the overall look and feel of their big day.

Preppy and whimsy

I really wanted to encapsulate and portray the feeling and look of our family cottage, which is a 3-story Victorian house built in 1899. It has been a summer destination of my family’s for the past five generations. I was going for a feeling of old-timey, natural, classic, a little preppy, whimsical, romantic, personal, and cozy. The reception was held at The Clubhouse, which was originally a hotel. I did not think it needed much “decorating” as the details in the architecture, wood, and interior design are beautiful as is.

Personal details

There aren’t many vendors around the Port Austin area as it is pretty secluded, so we used the chairs and place settings that the venue already had. I did want to make the tables a bit more personal for the wedding, so I rented the dusty blue linens and my mom and I went to numerous antique malls to find vintage milk glass vases for the flowers and depression era glass candlesticks to dress up the tables a bit.
The flowers were the finishing touch to enhance the cottagey feel.

Bridal advice

So my advice to other brides would be anything you can possibly do prior to the week before your wedding, do it! This will allow the bride to relax a little the week before and get ready for the amazing, yet exhausting, wedding weekend whirlwind. Also, use your bridesmaids and family! It’s a lot to put a wedding together, but you don’t have to do it alone.
