Nautical Navy and Yellow Wedding in Roche Harbor Paradise

Share

Happy bride and groom embracing under an archway

Eric and Lizzy both grew up vacationing in and around Roche Harbor. Lizzy’s family had a small cabin located on the barrier of the island next to the harbor, and Eric boated with his family on the island every summer. Needless to say, it was decided a day after their engagement that Roche Harbor, a place they both call paradise, would play host for their summer wedding.
Lizzy goes into much more details about their navy and yellow nautical wedding including their full budget breakdown. As always you can see so many more seaworthy details in the full gallery here. All beautifully captured by Carina Skrobecki.

From The Bride:As important as the actual wedding day was, for us, the community of family and friends were just as special. As such, we decided to throw a three day wedding extravaganza. It began with a low key Low Country boil on Friday evening, continued Saturday with appetizers, desserts and drinks for the official welcoming party, and culminated in a wedding that will forever be the best day of our lives. Using the island for inspiration, we decided on a nautical theme, which I was able to design and implement with an amazing team of friends.

The flowers were created by the ever so talented Paisley Petals Flower Studio, and the entire day could not have happened if it was not for Andrea Leslie, wedding planner extraordinaire!

Honestly, the night was perfect, I was so happy with how everything turned out that I would not have changed anything. I guess one thing I would have done differently is to beg Roche Harbor to let us dance for 30 more minutes. Everyone was having a blast and a bit more time busting our moves would have been great.

We incorporated navy, yellow, and white as our palette and used rope, stripes, and small graphics of anchors, crabs, and a ship’s helm as accents. As a graphic designer, one of the most exciting parts for me was to design the invitations. I started with a Japanese folding book which had each day of the weekend highlighted with activities and fun adventures on the island. If that was not enough to keep our guests busy, I also designed a map that was revealed on the back when unfolded that showcased even more attractions.

One of our favorite moments of the weekend was the dance party. With the band Atomic Pop, we rocked the dance floor until they kicked us out…. due to noise regulations. From synchronized dances, to the limbo, to the largest circle of friends singing “That’s what friends are for,” the night ended in style and will forever be a beautiful memory.
