Black Swan Inspired Shoot With A Twilight Ceremony

Share

Elegant bride and groom in black attire amidst blossoms

This team from Utah decided to throw tradition to the wind and turn everything you thought you knew about weddings on its head. For starters, they began the night with the meal and ended with a candlelit twilight ceremony! The bride also wore a voluminous black tulle ballgown instead of the traditional white or ivory. While the design for this wedding shoot is certainly dramatic, it is also delicate and romantic, reminiscent of the movie that inspired it, Black Swan

Canvas Weddings And Events wanted to push the limits of current wedding traditions and create something wholly unique. The beautiful glass and cement structure of the Natural History Museum allowed the moodiness from the dark sky to interact directly with each of the vignettes. Urban Chateau Floral created these towering floral installations that add to the drama. We love the play of dark vs light in these high-contrast photos by Breanna White Photography. Want to see more from this shoot? Check out the full gallery. A DARK TWIST

Elegant floral wedding decor with mountain backdrop

It is the perfect time to step away from traditions and expectations. Canvas Weddings And Events, along with photographer Breanna White, wanted to create a styled wedding that did that. This Black Swan-inspired shoot was set in the foothills of Northern Utah at Utah’s Natural History Museum. The modern architecture of the building complemented the surrounding skyline as the sun set behind the mountain peaks. The florals were designed by Urban Chateau Floral‘s owner, Erin, who used soft pinks, whites, grays, and a pop of orange on this modern but elegant tablescape. Rose Blossom Prints used a black roses print and black wax seal which created a dramatic invitation and menu for our couple’s guests.

A DRAMATIC SWEETHEART TABLE

Elegant rooftop dinner setup with chandeliers and ghost chairs

The couple’s dinner took place on the balcony with a wall of mirrors behind it allowing us to create an even more dramatic romantic feel. The table was lit by free-standing chandeliers provided by Moonlight Lighting. Then came our gorgeous bride in an unexpected black dress and groom in his JP Couture Clothing suit. The tablescape created an intimate space for dinner, drinks, and dancing for this couple. Then was time to cut the cake, designed by Mmm Dessert who used a black sugar piece to drape the front of the white cake, which was reflected in the mirror wall background.

A TWILIGHT CEREMONY

Romantic interacial couple embracing surrounded by candles

Our bride and groom spent time together taking pictures before the twilight ceremony. The bride’s dramatic look was done by Katie Livingston. Her dramatic look was topped off with a J Brooks necklace, amazing ring, and diamond teardrop earrings, showing every bride’s love for diamonds. Our bride also wore a floral crown, during her bridal portraits, which was inspired by the feather headpiece in the movie, Black Swan. When the sun dropped, the candlelight’s glow surrounded the couple creating an unexpected and dramatic ceremony ending their evening with vows and first kiss as husband and wife.
