Airy Blue Wedding at The San Francisco Mint: A Dreamy Celebration

Share

Elegant bride and groom portrait on their wedding day

Usually the “something blue” is a tiny detail worked into the wedding attire like an earring or a pin or hidden in the bouquet, like a ribbon or a flower, but this team decided to base an entire wedding around it! When a color is going to play that big of a role, the key is finding the absolute perfect shade, and did they find it? You betcha! This soft cool blue walks the line between sage and robin’s egg and is so beautifully subtle it functions as a neutral. The green hints play on the stunning teal and cream marble floors of the venue, rounding out what could be a show-stealing feature into a perfect complement to the rest of the wedding design. And while we could go on and on about just how much we adore this shade of blue, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to absolutely fawn over this jaw-dropping levitating floral installation. This masterpiece takes an already elegant venue and turns it into a floral wonderland.

Something Blue Productions designed this crazy beautiful shoot and made sure that all of the elements worked together seamlessly and Npu Events was there to capture it all on film. These photos by Weddings By Scott And Dana are so light and airy, giving the entire shoot a feeling of youth and whimsy. The already elegant design of The San Francisco Mint melds beautifully with the rest of the wedding design. Floral Luxe outdid themselves with these florals! From the hanging floral installation to the asymmetrical ceremony arch, these arrangements were ON POINT! To see more from this shoot, check out the full gallery. Read on to hear more from Something Blue Productions about how this shoot came together.

MEANT TO BE

Elegant wedding setup with clear chairs and floral arrangements

Something Blue Productions designed this shoot at The San Francisco Mint with the idea of combining different styles to make one gorgeous look. They mixed silver and gold, simple and extravagant, historic and modern, and made it seem like that’s the way it’s always supposed to be. What made this even more special is that the models are friends of the team who are already married but never had a wedding! They were so adorable and excited and that really made the pictures what they are.

GOOD BONES

Bride and groom kissing at their elegant floral wedding

The San Francisco Mint is a perfect mix of classic architecture and modern technologies with so many gorgeous rooms available to use, the only struggle was picking which ones! We decided to use the Column Room for the reception so we could really decorate the columns and make them stand out, and the Coiner’s Office to have some real contrast with its dark original flooring. We wanted all of the decor and florals to complement the space while having a light and almost airy feel to it. The ceremony took place in the Coiner’s Office to play off the dark floor and natural light. We kept it clean with ghost acrylic chairs and just two floral structures to keep the focus on the details of the building and the couple!

FLOATING FLORALS

For the reception, I was in love with the columns going through, the aptly named, Column Ballroom, and knew we had to do something big with that! When you opened the doors into the ballroom we wanted the instant wow factor, and all the details really pulled that together! The starting point for the reception design was Pleasanton Rentals dreamy Sky Velvet linen and all of the pieces came together from there. To match the sky feel, Something Blue worked with Floral Luxe to design a centerpiece full of roses and greenery that was cloud-like–coming up with a garland that hung from the ceiling. To tie it all together the table had bud vases of roses down the center. Pirouette Paper finished up the details with her beautiful menus, doubling as place cards.

SOMETHING SWEET

Glass Slipper Gourmet was the icing on the cake, with the most amazing two-tiered cake. The cake was inspired by the same blue linen and the concept of light and airy. Keeping it classic with a white base, the details were more modern with small touches of gold. Floral Luxe repurposed the large ceremony pieces to frame the cake and give it the dramatic flare it deserved!
