How to Have a Stylish Desert Inspired Boho Wedding Anywhere

Share

Desert wedding inspiration from Portland

Having a desert-inspired wedding no matter where you live is easier than you think. This next shoot took place at Urban Studio PDX in Portland, a mere 3-hour drive to the nearest desert location. So Peachy Keen Coordination and a talented team of wedding vendors brought the quintessential desert boho vibe indoors, and we are in serious design love.

Potted cacti in terra cotta pots, warm desert hues, and natural textures were just a few of the key elements used to create the desert ambiance throughout. The bride-models modern boho look was, shall we say, perfection! And we have to point out her succulent/cacti bouquet from Thistle & Fern Floral because it’s out of this world GORG. Read on about this styled shoot below, and grab a closer look in the full gallery from Rebecca Rizzo Photographics.

Choose Warm colors

From Rebecca Rizzo Photographics: It’s no secret that we get a lot of rain here in Portland, especially in the winter and early spring. We were inspired by the warmth of the desert and decided to bring it inside! The colors are those you’d typically find somewhere much drier than here- lots of warm pinks and oranges, and the greens of native cacti.

Bring in Desert inspired elements

Urban Studio PDX was the perfect setting for our shoot with its amazing light up front, and that’s where we set up the desert lounge complete with terra cotta potted succulents and plush blush floor pillows. The altar featured more cacti, as well as an incredible succulent and floral installment on driftwood, under which our couple could say their vows on coordinating rugs. The table was set around another piece with succulents and flowers, and there were even desert inspired cocktails with sage and prickly pear.

The cake was an edible piece of art in itself, with an all white, hand cut geometric pattern and flowers and succulents made completely out of sugar. Our invitation suite had hand torn edges with pink vellum and gold leaf, and even had little succulents too! We selected a simple and elegant gown with an amazing train and topped it with a hat instead of a veil, which had the same flowers and succulents seen throughout the shoot. Even the jewelry coordinated with its geometric diamond settings and engravings on the groom’s band. We just wanted to show that you don’t have to live near the desert (our closest is almost 3 hours away) to have your day inspired by it, and you can bring it all inside too.
