The Met Gala Just Gave Angel Brides Their Wings Again (Literally)

Okay, so. My 30th birthday was this past weekend, and I still think I was more excited about the Met Gala than I was for my own Cinco de Mayo fiesta. I LOVEEEE the Met, and the first Monday of May has basically become my Christmas morning over the last few years. That being said, this year’s fashion and scene-setting theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, was just clouds above the rest. And I couldn’t help humming ‘Halo’ as I scrolled through the feed-ing frenzy of red carpet couture tonight. Soft, light-as-air looks and angelic aesthetics were taking over – and we couldn’t be more obsessed with it – we were #blessed, quite literally. Kate Bosworth, you freakin’ killed it 👰. Brides everywhere, take note.

While Katy Perry’s winged look isn’t what we’d pick to walk down the aisle in, her peers, who dressed in other ethereal, flowy white dresses really made us get back in touch with all things angelic – and the trend is pretty on-point for anyone preparing to float down the aisle in the near future.

Here were some of the rapturous details we just couldn’t help attaching aisle-worthiness to:

  • Gold and silver metallics that brought an overwhelming otherworldliness to the outfits

  • Tulle trailing for days; the playful, buoyant fabric is as seraphic as it comes

  • Translucent skirts and devilishly-tempted slits that altogether make a bride feel like she’s equal parts 😇😈

  • Lace appliques and Swarovski crystals are as close to heaven-sent as you can get

  • Billowy capes that cascade towards the floor are as cherubic as they are royal. And if Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have anything to do with it, they’re obviously hella divine

Some of the most amazing nuptials-ready numbers of the night, in no particular order of importance… Just kidding, Kate, you were by far our favorite….
