When You’re Getting Married Perks Can Matter So Much

Who else remembers Chandler and Monica’s honeymoon episode on Friends? It literally has one of my all-time favorite plot lines and I can quote the show forwards and backwards. The best part of it is the whole idea that when you’re getting married or just-married, you have a certain mystique about you that makes perks a very real part of your picture. Chandler and Monica are obvi super excited to be on their honeymoon and newly off-the-market, but when they see another couple racking up lots of “extras” (flight upgrades, first class lounge access, complimentary honeymoon suite switches) just because they’ve got that newlywed dust all over them, they kind of freak out. They love each other SO much, and they’re so happy to be ‘celebrating their love together,’ but they also “need the stuff.” The free stuff that the other couple was so easily afforded. Now, not saying that taking the plunge automatically sets a couple up for all the perks, buttttt if they’re offered, it’d be silly not to indulge at least a little bit, arewerite?!?!!

The fine print 

The only caveats for couples are that they’ll need to pick a wedding date that falls on December 30th or earlier this year AND they have to be ready to book their I Do details by March 31st. So, little less than 2 weeks to get that done. If you’re already a Kimpton loyalist, you might have already scoped out something ‘so you’ from their list of participating hotels; when you know, you know, so two weeks isn’t too tight of a turnaround after all. 

Now, granted, there are some exceptions – blackout dates may apply – and not every Kimpton Hotel is in on this promo, but we picked out a few of their star properties (including the Canary Santa Barbara, where our own Amy stayed a few weeks ago, and couldn’t say enough about the gorgeousness) from Baltimore to Grand Cayman, Santa Barbara to Vero Beach just to give you some flavor on how weddings go down here.
