Claire Pettibone's Decoupage — Charlotte

Claire Pettibone‘s Spring 2014 bridal collection takes its inspiration, as well as its name, from the old art of Decoupage. From the French word for cut, Decoupage refers to the art of decorating chests, ceramics and other items through layering paper cutouts. Pettibone applies this idea to the vintage-inspired gowns she is known for by combining textures and treatments through layers of chantilly, guipure, silk, vintage laces, floral accents and delicate hand beaded details. This ‘heirloom collection of wedding gowns,’ as she describes it, is composed of fairly modest necklines, exposed backs and sleeves ranging from short capped to long and voluminous.
