I love weddings at Cornerstone! Whether you are planning a quirky retro affair or an “eco” chic soiree, I can’t think of a location that has so many unique and interesting backdrops for you to custom-design your celebration. The wedding garden, the vineyard lawn, and the garden barn are probably the most publicized ceremony and reception local’s, but the beauty of Cornerstone is that you can (they encourage you in fact) think outside the box. You’ll be captivated by the Vineyard lawn, as was this couple. The luscious deep green grass is flanked to the east by chardonnay vines, the filtered light created by the overhang of dense tall foliage to the west is offset by the dazzling light reflecting on the pond which is alive with waterlilies – absolutely gorgeous. This space alone provides three amazing backdrops for a picture-perfect ‘I Do’ and this is just one of the many locations and vignettes available on the property.

Wow, talk about Martha Stewart revisited with an updated sense of whimsy. The freight and salvage-style door juxtaposed against the backdrop of the vineyard is simply one of the most creative resources I’ve seen this season. The team at Churchstreet Flowers has done a brilliant job of taking this bride’s interpretation and bringing it to life. The door is perfectly positioned amongst the foliage that is turning color, so you need very little embellishment. The cascading vine effect over the corner of the door creates texture, layering, and depth against what could end up being a bland and out of place “prop” or completely overdone. The sun-drenched yellow of the overall floral theme works in marvelous harmony with the bridesmaids’ dresses, flowing in a soft heather hue. The combination of yellow paired with a simple grey is popular amongst brides this year. I love how it can be used easily to create a soft and romantic vibe or tuned up for a more hip, modern aesthetic. The groomsman’s ties are another great example of looking for depth in details. The patterned tie is fun to begin with, but when paired with the basic black suite they become a statement.
Kate Harrison seems to attract fun-loving couples who want to tell their story. Her pictures are soft, romantic, and truly stunning. I love how she tries to incorporate a bit of the couple’s personality into every shoot – NO COOKIE CUTTER photography with her. Here are a few thoughts from Kate:
Erin and Nick (and their friends) are so expressive and ready to play. I laughed so much and was wowed by them over and over. Erin and Nick crafted a wedding that emphasized friends and family, lingering conversations, fearless dancing and lots of laughs. Cornerstone was the perfect spot – love those strolling chats while the fog rolls over the hills. It was also incredibly creative and true to them (how about the door they used in the vineyard as an additional backdrop??). I could sense that they were present in every moment and connected with everyone there with a sweet ease, not rushed obligation. To boot, it was a beautiful, breezy day which added to the dolce vita ambiance. It doesn’t get much better.
