Crafty DIY Texas Wedding

The surrealistic cloud of being engaged left Diana with the very real task of planning a wedding, the first step was to prioritize. They knew they wanted an event that was comfortable and open in nature, a true celebration of their commitment.

She also was certain that they wanted to make this event “theirs” and decided the best way to do so would be through creating the entire thing from scratch. Crafting many of the projects on her own and leaving the tasks she knew were impossible to the professionals, making the perfect crafty DIY Texas wedding. To see more of this wedding captured by Elissa R Photography be sure to click here.

From Diana:

There were a few things I knew I wanted from the beginning. I wanted my wedding at Mercury Hall, a beautiful venue in central Austin, and I wanted Sam Doores and the Tumbleweeds to play – everything else I built around these two things. I tried to save money in all the areas that were feasible, but also knew where to spend it. For things I could not tackle myself, I found wonderful vendors, my caterer was amazing, my florist created the most beautiful arrangements of succulents and yellow billy balls that tied the wedding together, and of course my photographer was out of this world.

We are lucky enough to be blessed with a large group of very talented friends, and it was through their help that we were not only able to have the wedding we envisioned, but to stay in budget too. We have a friend who is a great cook make our cake and all the pies, and a mixologist designed our signature cocktails. Not to mention the fact that my husband, being an owner of Austin Beerworks (a local brewery), took care of the beer. In addition, we had an entire team of worker bees get to the venue two hours ahead of time to set up. The day of the event I had decided that I would be happy with however they decorated, since I would have no control over it, but I didn’t need that encouragement; it was absolutely perfect.

The wedding party wore clothing perfect for spring, sun dresses from Urban Outfitters for the girls and linen suits for the boys. I decided that since I was getting married I might as well have two dresses, so half way through I swapped out my beautiful lace wedding dress for a fun and swirly short dancing dress. Between the outdoor dance party on the lawn and the photobooth inside, our guests had a wonderful time through the night.

I also took on an insane amount of DIY craft projects to make the event personal. I made a pinwheel backdrop for the photobooth by creating pinwheels out of scrapbook paper and adhering them to twine dangling from dowel rods. The table centerpieces were decorated with wine bottles that had been collected over our entire engagement, felt flower garlands on twine, and paper pinwheels. I had my florist make beautiful succulent and billy ball boutonnieres for the wedding party, and I created fabric ones for family. All our signs and table numbers were picture frames and plates painted with chalkboard paint. For our favors, I wanted something that our guests could actually use, so, in their interest, I created an aphrodisiac love tea. An herbalist friend advised me on which herbs would best and I ordered them in bulk online. I then combined them into reusable tea bags and had a rubber stamp made to label each tag.

Kentucky Derby Wedding Ideas

On the first Saturday of every May, a time honored tradition takes place ever, The Kentucky Derby. Mint Juleps are flowing, all the ladies are wearing their fashion-forward hats and everyone is in high spirits. It seems only natural to turn this happy-go-lucky affair into a wedding theme, and that is exactly what Holly Gerard of Mile High Bride did. Read on to hear Holly’s Kentucky Derby wedding ideas.

You can see more beautifully captured images by Laura Murray Photography in the full gallery.

From Holly:

Pink & Yellow were chosen as the colors because of their nod to spring. We played everything off of those two colors with the addition of white details as well. I had a great time making menus and other various paper goods for the shoot, all horse-inspired as well! I purchased some vintage postcards to also tie in with the classy-vintage southern wedding theme.

All the flowers were also a nod to spring by choosing what was available this time of year in the color scheme with bits of mint added in to make them tie in a bit with the mint julep. Mint Juleps are the signature drink of the derby to it was fun to tie them into the design with the flowers and with the juleps themselves. The pecan pies were completely inspired by all the southern traditions that go along with the derby. There is just something so romantic feeling about southern traditions, a great theme to go with for wedding inspiration for sure!

Amelie Wedding Inspiration

Amelie is not only a heart-felt movie, but also has a ton of  lovely wedding inspiration throughout the film. So much inspiration that The Emerics created an outdoor garden wedding vignette inspired by the film. Filled with organic elements, quotes from the film and a very specific color scheme of greens and reds. Read on to hear more details from these Las Vegas wedding photographers. Do check out more Amelie wedding inspiration in the full gallery by clicking here.

We decided on small plants as favors too because Amelie has potted plants along the windowsill of her apartment and thought it would flow nicely with the organic vibe. Since Amelie was a waitress at a cafe in Paris, we decided on a menu board instead of individual menus on the plates. In the movie you can see her handwriting the menu on glass. And just to pay further homage to the movie itself, we chose a few of our favorite quotes and hung them alongside the escort cards.

Jason and I set out to create a wedding inspired by the French movie Amelie, which is our favorite movie of all time – our daughter’s middle name is Amelie, just as an indication as to how much we love it! I began to seek out the organic elements of the movie, as well as our favorite quotes to help us set the scene for a small, intimate courtyard wedding. The movie has a very specific color scheme of greens and reds, so we kept those colors throughout the design elements.

The narrator describes Amelie early in the movie as someone who enjoyed “life’s small pleasures : immersing one’s hand in a sack of grain, cracking the crust of a crème brulée with the back of a teaspoon or skipping stones on the Canal St-Martin.” We used burlap sacks with the word, amour, over the outdoor fireplace, we also used had a vase of river rocks for guests to write wishes for the newlyweds on, and of course, creme brulee was part of our dessert table.

A lot of the pieces were thrift store finds, such as the cake table, the suitcase, and the panel with fabric strips. We simply refurbished them ourselves to match our color scheme. We had our talented friend, Sarah Barajas, make the crepe cake, raspberry tart, and creme brulee. There were a lot of DIY elements throughout the decor, as well. Jason hand-sewed the burlap sacks and the burlap “cards” flag then made stencils for the letters. I painted the small terre cotta pots green then used sandpaper to give them a distressed look. We also designed and printed our own escort cards, place cards, and quote cards. The table covering was also made by the floral artist based on the vision we had.

A DIY Purple Rustic Wedding

Purple seems to be the rising star around here, it has graced our pages regularly in every shade imaginable. Honoring this love affair with the regal hue, we have  Natalie and Eric’s DIY purple rustic wedding held at the Twin Oaks House and Gardens in San Diego, California.

This secluded venue features artistic and poetic gardens inspired by love, imagination and tranquility. Obviously the couple wanted to capture all those things in their wedding decor and details, spending tons of time creating the centerpieces and DIY touches. Captured by San Diego wedding photographer Priscila Valentina Photography. You can see more in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Natalie:

We fell in love as coworkers at Starbucks. After two years of dating Eric popped the question and within a few days we were investigating venues. Immediately after seeing Twin Oaks House and Gardens we were sold. Eric and I felt that a woodsy/garden vibe seemed to capture our personalities well, and we tried to portray that in our decor as well as other elements in the wedding. Being the fourth sibling in my family to get married, we had a lot of support and experience to help us out.

As you know we adore a good chalk board sign. Natalie made this super cute one that says, ” If I was a flower growing wild and free. All I’d want is for you to be my sweet honey bee.” Underneath they listed the bridal party what a great alternative to a traditional wedding programs. Incredibly cute!

In lue of a candle or sand ceremony we opted for what is called “God’s Knot” which was a fun project for my mom and me to create, and now resides in our home as a meaningful decorative piece.

We spent a lot of time creating the centerpieces ourselves as well as the rest of the flowers for the wedding. My good friend and bridesmaid, Erin Alexander, created the incredible silk floral arrangement that is hung over the gazebo. Though the venue was beautiful by itself, we were able to add DIY touches here and there such as the chalkboard signs, which helped us save on our budget. We were also able to get creative with our guestbook, using a suitcase for notes in the place of your average book.

The venue’s staff was amazing, especially Megan, our Day-Of Coordinator who made everything run so smoothly. Our DJ, Paul Peterson, was a blast and perfectly captured the classic rock/folk vibe we sought. Last but not least, the amazing photographer duo from Priscila Valentina Photography captured our day better than we ever could have imagined. They were so accommodating, showing up early, and staying late so that we could get the most photos possible of the day.

Advice To Other Brides:
My advice to other brides who are wanting a DIY feel is to plan your projects well ahead of time so as not to become too overwhelmed. Most importantly, make sure to stay true to your vision no matter what opinions others may have. Remember, it is your wedding, have fun with it!

The menu looks delicious : Savory strawberry salad, strawberry pasta and berry delicious sweets for dessert. Below is a recipe for those strawberry mojitos. The perfect drink for a hot summer day. Courtesy of allrecipes.com

Ingredients
white sugar, for rimming
2 large limes, quartered
1/2 bunch mint leaves
7 strawberries, quartered
1 cup white sugar
1 cup white rum
2 cups club soda
8 cups ice cubes

Directions
1. Pour 1/4 to 1/2 inch of sugar onto a small, shallow plate. Run one of the lime quarters around the rim of each cocktail glass, then dip the glasses into the sugar to rim; set aside.

2. Squeeze all of the lime quarters into a sturdy glass pitcher. Toss the juiced limes into the pitcher along with the mint, strawberries, and 1 cup of sugar. Crush the fruits together with a muddler to release the juices from the strawberries and the oil from the mint leaves. Stir in the rum and club soda until the sugar has dissolved. Pour into the sugared glasses over ice cubes to serve.

Horse Wedding Ideas

We’ve always been captivated by horses and love the idea of incorporating them into your wedding, especially if you are horse lovers like our next couple. Like most couples, they wanted a relaxed atmosphere where they could spend the day and dance the night away with their friends and loved ones.

Emily’s parent’s house where she grew up riding horses was the perfect spot – Chris loved it as much as she did. Complete with a farmhouse,  old stonewalls,  and a big red barn. It was the ideal place for Chris and Emily from the beginning. You can see more horse wedding ideas in the full gallery captured by Orchard Cove Photography.

Their wedding stationery tied perfectly in with their equestrian style wedding and designed by Griffin-vites. The bridesmaid’s dresses in a perwinkle blue from J. Crew went with their whole blue theme. Everything tied together beautifully.

On Wedding Decor & Details:

We wanted the day to feel natural and the look to be true to the farm setting but also be beautiful—we were striving for the right blend and contrast of the rustic and the elegant. We didn’t want to take away from the setting, with the horse barn and the stonewalls around the house, so we tried to stick with “less is more” for decorations, bringing in some pops of color for flowers and a few natural and vintage elements scattered around. Chris re-built the most prominent stonewall that would separate the cocktail hour and the dinner tent and he also built one of the bars that we used out of salvaged wood from our barn. My sister painted signs from more barn boards to direct people around the property. We used a wooden gate to hang the escort cards and also keep the cocktail space separate from the dinner tent. I didn’t want to be too matchy-matchy with a very specific two-color scheme, but we loosely used a dark blue and a soft blush pink as our inspiration and went from there. We ordered grapevine balls and wrapped them with twinkly lights to hang from the tent and decided to use the dark ballroom chairs to complement the grapevine. My grandmother sewed table runners out of a natural burlap, bringing in some texture and layering onto the ivory linens. The whole day came together thanks to all of our family and friends who helped us set up and added their own touches.

Wisconsin Anthropology Inspired Wedding

When you have a beautiful bride, a sweet groom, an ultra stylish (and entertaining) bridal party, and a simply stunning setting -there’s no way the day is going to be anything but spectacular! Kelsey and Dave planned a brilliant Anthropology-inspired wedding that was the perfect combination of comfortable & organic, yet chic and full of so much love.

The bridesmaids’ vintage floral dresses complimented the groomsmens’ pastel bow-ties, suspenders & TOMS, as did Kelsey’s vintage style dress and Dave’s pale yellow cardigan… and this doesn’t even touch on all their fun details at the reception that filled The Enchanted Barn! Our favorite is the embroidered table numbers from The Bakery Home and Design. So cute…right? Magnificently captured by Wisconsin husband and wife duo  The McCartneys Photography. You can see more of this Anthropology Inspired Wedding by visiting the full wedding gallery.

Guess where Kelsey & Dave got their insanely awesome free wedding programs? They got them right here on the Wedding Chicks! You can download your own Heart and Arrow Custom Monogram by clicking here. All you need is some paper, a printer and a little bit of creativity. The Heart and Arrow Custom Monograms are available in an array of colors. It’s so easy and a super cute freebie!

Whidbey Island Wedding

Dan and Laura love gardening and the outdoors. It is around these loves that they chose to get married on Whidbey Island.  Married at  Fireseed Catering (their wedding venue on Whidbey) with little touches here and there that exemplify their love.

Hand stamped spoons with words like ‘Oregano’ and ‘Thyme’ were arranged on the reception tables. These spoons guided guests to their appropriate seat, or the vintage gardening book that guests could sign and leave wishes for the new couple. Small, intimate and joyful and all photographed beautifully by Kirk Mastin of Mastin Studio. To see all the beautiful images click here and read on to her more details form Laura.

From The Bride:

Our Valentine’s Day tradition is to plant our sugar snap peas in the garden together. This signifies the official start of the gardening season for us, which we love, but also gives us pause to consider all of things we grow and build together in our lives. Last February 14th as I dug my spade into the earth in order to plant our peas, I instead found a buried little box beneath our beautifully compost-laden soil. I was utterly confused at how a cute little box sealed in a zip-lock bag came to find itself exactly where I was going to plant my first pea pod. As I slowly realized that this was my wedding ring, I looked at Dan and started crying.

We love gardening and the outdoors, so it was a natural and easy theme for our wedding. In fact, much of the ‘décor’ were existing pieces from our garden (herb markers, veggie harvest baskets, backyard lanterns, wooden planters, galvanized steel farm bucket for beverages). We wanted the wedding to feel like an extension of us rather than a one-time planned and over-arranged event.
We met in a dive bar in Washington, DC called Wonderland. Dan and his friend Niall flipped a coin to see if they would go downtown or to the local dive bar.  Niall won the toss and they went to the dive bar where Dan met Laura. Laura had been at a Christmas party and her friend dragged her to Wonderland, party Tupperware in hand and all. The Tupperware turned out to be a great conversation starter…

Kirk is fantastic to work with. He is incredibly talented and has such a gift for finding just the right shots to capture the essence of the moment. He brings a creative and artistic perspective to wedding photography. He went above and beyond our expectations – even down to the thoughtful and detailed image packaging.
We knew Fireseed was the perfect fit for us as soon as we drove up. It’s an old farm with a beautiful organic vegetable garden, expansive flower beds, and lush green ferns around a beautifully restored old barn. The owners are a couple that also run a catering business. Their culinary creations are made with fresh seasonal ingredients from the on-site garden or nearby farms on Whidbey.

What was your processional music? “Heard Them Stirring”, by The Fleet Foxes.
Recessional music “Can’t stop now” by Major Lazer
Our best friends, Martha and Brian Callaghan are incredibly talented musicians. We were honoured when they agreed to play a song for us to dance our first dance to. They played “Wedding Song” by Anais Mitchell. It can be a bit intimidating to have lots of eyes just watching you dance, but to hear our dear friends’ voices above it all made it comforting and extra special.

It was a love-filled day all around. It was amazing to have all of our loved ones in the same place. We lucked out with an amazingly clear and sunny day, which is no small feat in October in the Pacific Northwest.

New Jersey Wedding Fernbrook Farms Wedding

Here at The Wedding Chicks, we love sharing a good wedding venue with you. Without an exception, Fernbrook Farms in New Jersey is a perfect place for all you tri-state brides looking for a little something rustic with a whole lot of elegance. With large gardens, vast lawns and farm fields, Fernbrook has a wonderful ability to transform itself into exactly what you are looking for on your day.

You can definitely see that in our next wedding from J-Anderson Photography. To see more of Fernbrook Farms Wedding be sure to click here. On a side note, how about those red wedding shoes from Manolo Blahnik. Super gorgeous.

From The Bride:

“Jeff & I knew that we wanted a wedding that was a little bit elegant, a little bit relaxed/outdoorsy and a lot of fun. We looked all over the tri-state area to find a wedding venue that could fit the bill without being a wedding hall and when we saw Fernbrook Farms knew that it was just right. Fernbrook has an 18th century farm house that has been turned into a bed & breakfast, a few semi-formal gardens & is a working 400 acre farm that the caterers source produce from for dinner.

The caterers helped us incorporate our favorite meat (pork!) into the menu, the florist helped make arrangements with vibrant flowers & succulent plants (to last forever!), our friend officiated to make our ceremony personal, our dog Sodapop joined in as part of the wedding party, all the bridesmaids/groomsmen choose their own outfits and the DJs pulled off a night of non-stop dancing!”

Marston House Wedding

Neil & Kimberly’s wedding was at the historic Marston House in San Diego. A fabulous venue with formal gardens and canyon pathways in the shade of towering pine, eucalyptus and oak trees. Each guest was able to take a tour of the Marston House museum during the cocktail hour, walk the grounds and learn about it’s history. How lovely does that sound? See more of this Marston House Wedding captured by Jackie Wonders in the full gallery.

The bride and groom designed a day filled with character and whimsy.  One steal worthy idea is the use of  polaroid cards from Urban Outfitters. Guests wrote notes for the couple on the cards. We are quite positive that after the wedding they will display them cleverly in their home.

Old Fashioned Garden Wedding

Jen Rodriguez Photography shared with us this bright and cheery old fashioned garden wedding. Overflowing with seriously pretty wedding bouquets from April Flowers.

In fact, all of the wedding arrangements were pretty amazing. Janine, the bride, wanted an eclectic mix of lustrewear teacups and old bottles to hold a variety of blooms mixed with berries. There are so many more pretty floral pictures in the full gallery for all you pinners here. Love Me Simple created the custom ombre ceremony backdrop that is oh so fabulous.

The bride and groom were married at the Olallieberry Inn in Cambria, CA. It was a destination wedding and the couple wanted to treat their guests, mainly family, for this intimate wedding. The Olallieberry Inn holds a special place in the couple’s heart because this Inn is where the bride Janine’s parents stayed every year when they would visit Cambria. Janine’s father has passed away and being able to not only share this special place with the rest of their family, but to get married there just made the location that much more special. They brought in the talented ladies of Events Redefined to help pull Janine’s vision together.

Our next couple chose this desert plant as a symbol of their love. The plant is featured throughout the garden, and even portrayed in Chihuly sculptures at the garden entrance. The plant was referenced in the vows and displayed on printed material throughout the event, as well. We love when a theme is carried throughout the wedding.

The bride shared so much more with us about this desert wedding so be sure to read on. You can also view the entire wedding gallery by clicking here. All of this desert beauty was captured by Hollye Schumacher Photography.

Guests were given small white bells to ring as the couple walked down the aisle during the recessional. The bells featured tags tied with twine, and said “RING ME!” How sweet of the guests to ring in the newlyweds.

After the ceremony, guests picked up prickly pear margaritas and wandered through the desert pathways to Boppart Courtyard. The courtyard featured bright coral tablecloths on high-top tables, tied with burlap ribbon and topped with small arrangements of succulents.

Guests found their names and table assignments hanging with twine strung between a set of agave stalks Marney’s parents had carefully collected, which continued the theme of the century agave plant. The tags were hand-written by the bride on kraft card stock tags with white ink, so very lovely.

Guests sat in shabby chic white chairs at tables covered in natural green tablecloths. The centerpieces were 8″ x 8″ dark-stained boxes filled with coral peonies, purple lisianthus, yellow genista, flower shaped succulents, yellow & purple freesia, green viburnum, ladies mantle and purple lilac with floating candles highlighting throughout. Each box was wrapped with twine.

Tables were identified by cities Marney and Booth had lived in (Florence, Honolulu, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc). The city names were hand-written by Marney’s artistic cousin Michael in white lettering on kraft card-stock. Place settings were clean and crafty. A kraft menu (designed and printed by Marney) featured the agave logo hand-stamped at the top, and tucked inside a crisply folded white cotton napkin tied with twine. Marney’s mother cut rosemary from her herb garden and added a sprig to each napkin.

The homemade guest book was housed in a Russell + Hazel Signature 3-Ring Binder wrapped in white patent. Inside, natural/kraft and green sheets held green and salmon-colored (empty) envelopes. Guests chose their own blessing from any of five card sets laid out on the table. The cards are hand-stamped with custom designed graphics borrowed from one of Martha Stewart’s guest book ideas. Guests wrote a response to whichever card they chose and slipped it in an empty envelope.

Marney spent a few of her childhood years in London, and has fond memories of snapping British Christmas crackers with her family. After ordering supplies to fabricate 175, she put her parents to work helping stuff the cardboard rolls with almond roca, white LED jelly rings that flash when depressed, traditional silly colorful paper hats, and light marriage jokes like “My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met,” courtesy of Rodney Dangerfield. Marney’s sisters lead the guests in a celebratory “SNAP” to celebrate the couple in their toast.

Another family tradition of the bride’s family is to sing “Happy Trails” as a family member departs. To close down the evening, the band played “Happy Trails” as Marney and Booth danced by their friends and family lining the luminaria-lit pathway. Guests picked up muslin bags hand-stamped with a custom “Happy Trails” stamp designed by the bride and filled with the Binns family’s secret trail mix recipe.

Spring garden daisy wedding bouquet for a rustic casual garden wedding.

Soft and loosely arranged, this bouquet looks like it came straight from the garden. It’s perfect for the sweet bride that loves Daisies. Garden roses and fragrant herbs add fullness, texture and scent while the bow finishes the bouquet with nice country flair.

Flowers: Daisies, Daffodils, Garden Roses, Ranunculuses, Mimosas, herbs and foliage

Peony wedding bouquet for the modern bride looking for pops of color.

This bouquet is sweet and innocent, yet playful. The Peonies look so delicious; they almost look like cotton candy. The vibrant hues of yellow, coral and hot pink blend nicely together; making this an ideal bouquet for a summer wedding.

Flowers: Peonies, Craspedias, Tulips, Roses, Ranunculuses, Mimosas and foliage

A classic spring bouquet complete with berries and major pops of color.

Spring inspired bouquet featuring some of the best flowers of the season. Anemones and Peonies open beautifully and the Hyacinths with their signature sweet fragrance are the stars of this beautiful composition. A few Hyacinth blossoms will do since the scent is so strong. For a pop of color, add some lime green Viburnums to this classic bouquet.

Flowers: Anemones, Roses, Peonies, Hyacinths, Viburnums and Viburnum berries.

A romantic vintage bouquet with lace and pearls.

This romantic vintage bouquet has an understated elegance. Instead of real feathers, Astilbe is used to add a pretty soft, feathery texture to the bouquet. The white lace is a nice contrast to the flowers and the brooch and pearl strands add some personal touches.

Harvest Inspired Colorado Wedding

In order to commemorate this Halloween, we thought we would throw a little fall wedding inspiration your way this holiday. Adrienne & Eric’s Colorado wedding has some splendid DIY touches and is filled with all of our favorite autumn colors. Read on to learn how they conquered their fall DIY wedding, captured by Colorado wedding photographers Eric & Moriah Photography.

Be sure to see the entire wedding gallery by clicking here.

From Adrienne, The Bride:

I love autumn and wanted the decoration and flowers to resemble fall colors with dried grasses, pumpkins and fall foliage. Eric’s mother found large pumpkins she hollowed out and filled with water, then placed heart shaped floating candles in them, she also got mini pumpkins we used as place card holders, Eric’s sister made all the name tags attached to the mini pumpkins with pins. We found Martha Stewart craft punches of oak, maple and aspen leaves and punched out of fall colored card stock to create fall leaf confetti for the tables. I contacted Palmer Flowers and they made centerpiece wreaths with curly willow, wheat, bear grass and red and green eucalyptus leaves and buds. In the center we had red and orange candles. I wanted a bouquet with lots of texture and color, I had a hand tied bouquet with lotus pods, fiddle fern, coxcomb, Leonidas roses, hypericum berries, flame calla lilies, curly willow, feathers, eucalyptus buds, bear grass and pin cushion protia, all wrapped in ivory satin with chocolate satin crisscrossed ribbon. Eric’s boutonniere had a flame calla lily, feather, and fiddle fern curl.

Monique Linen By La Tavola Linens

One of our amazing Southern California Wedding Design & Coordinators, Joy de Vivre shared with us some creative inspiration to personalize your sweetheart table. Entirely inspired around La Tavola‘s Monique linens. Yes, they are named after the renowned designer Monique Lhuillier. Lucky for you, Joy shared with us exactly how she pulled off this utterly romantic sweetheart wedding table. Read on to learn more.

I used two lovely armchairs in blue and pink that belonged to my husbands Grandmother Bessie Lou, and set them on either side of a small square table covered in the Monqiue linen from La Tavola. Kelly Kaufman of Florette created the most beautiful arrangements of dahlias, peach garden roses and passion vine that sat in a sweet silver urn in the middle of the table. I used the beautiful Sevres China in blue and pink from Classic Party Rentals, which sat upon their gold antiqued glass charger. To keep with the tea theme, I placed one garden rose inside a gold and blue tea cup from Anthropologie on top of the china, with a sweet message that read “Once upon a time…” on one, and “Happily ever after” on the other. For glassware, I chose the beautiful gold rimmed wine, water and champagne glass from Classic Party Rentals. I placed a few cracked glass votive holders with gold rim around the table, and hung a great empty gold picture frame above it.

Minnesota Lilac and Green Wedding Ideas

Happy Thursday and thank you for visiting our little wedding blog. We are thrilled to share with you a little Minnesota wedding from one of our very own preferred vendors, Geneoh Photography. Jamie is a event coordinator for USA Hockey and Ryan is a forward for the Edmonton Oilers.

They met in college and from the very beginning Ryan knew Jamie was going to be his wife, super love when that happens. They got married at Noerenberg Gardens and had there reception at grandparents house on Lake Minnetonka.

From The Bride

We wanted to show all of our guests why we love Minnesota so much. Why we call Lake Minnetonka home. So we did just that. We had and outdoor tent party. We catered Famous Dave’s because Ryan wanted ribs, chicken, salmon, mashed potatoes and vegetables. I didn’t want the typical red and white checked barbecue so I rented white ceramic platters, bowls, and stainless steel serving utensils from Apres and made it an eloquent summer barbecue. We had family and friends fly in from all over the U.S. and Canada. To honor our Canadian relatives, the Canadian National Anthem was played during fireworks. I cut and glued Canadian Maple Leafs on all the clothes pins that held the seating cards. We also hung a Canadian flag on the flag pole outside my parent’s house.

I am a perfectionist so my wedding was all about little details. We had a week of time line and a day of schedule. Everything ran on time and we were even ahead of schedule. Green maple leafs, hockey pucks as table numbers (spray painted sliver with green ribbons and green table numbers), decorated bathrooms, fans at the ceremony in case guests got hot, great food, a DJ that knows how to keep the party going.

I wouldn’t change anything about our Wedding. Ryan let me make it everything I could have dreamed of. Most of the day was a surprise for him, I didn’t involve or waste his time in the little decisions. And at the end of the night he pulled me aside, kissed me and said thank you for making this the best day of my life, I have dreamed about our wedding for a long time and you blew my dreams away and made this day so much more than what I ever could have imagined.

Hotel Bel-Air Wedding From Jasmine Star

A Hotel Bel-Air Wedding with whites, blushes, delicate lace details and Jasmine Star. What more could a girl ask for?

Robert and Marisa wanted a garden wedding that was filled with elegance and romance. Everything had a cohesive look and feel thanks to the ever talented Joyful Weddings & Events. Including large fluffy hydrangea centerpieces accented with mixed size vases and apothecary jars filled with fresh white flowers. Big fluffy pillows to relax on and tid bits of lace thrown here and there. All of this simply accented Marisa’s fabulous wedding gown designed by Monique Lhuillier. Which, was actually the first dress Marissa tried on. The dress was called, “Faith.” It had a elegant sweetheart lace top flowed perfectly with the silk organza bottom.

Before the guests even arrived at the Los Angeles wedding venue they were treated with invites from William Arthur. Lined on a shimmery taupe card stock and bound by an elegant satin ribbon tied with a perfect bow. The envelopes were lined in satin ecru fabric. An M&R logo (for Marisa & Robert) tied all invitation pieces together, and was extended to reception details such as place cards and the labels on our party favors. All the little details made this wedding perfect.

JL Designs created some extraordinary floral pieces for this event. Especially the bridal bouquet. It was medium bouquet consisting of full-bodied garden roses in shades of white, ivory and cream. The bouquet was made to be full and lush with some natural greens (gardenia leaves) showing. The stems were wrapped in satin ribbon to match the Bride’s gown and overlaid with off white lace.

Simple Outdoor Wedding Ideas

Our next wedding was shared with us by Carden’s Photography. The day looked so fun and unique that we had to share this unique twist on a wedding.

Set at Cook Forest State Park in Pennsylvania, the day began with a canoe ride, followed by some diy pb and jelly sanwiches and fresh fruit.

The dinner reception was located right next to the ceremony site in the park!  It was decorated 100% diy.  For wedding favors the guest received apples and flower seed packets. The flowers in the mason jars were picked at the park and arranged that day. Every guest had a role in helping prepare for the wedding. Flowers were handmade on site, as well all the decor and most of the food.
