Crafty DIY Texas Wedding

The surrealistic cloud of being engaged left Diana with the very real task of planning a wedding, the first step was to prioritize. They knew they wanted an event that was comfortable and open in nature, a true celebration of their commitment.

She also was certain that they wanted to make this event “theirs” and decided the best way to do so would be through creating the entire thing from scratch. Crafting many of the projects on her own and leaving the tasks she knew were impossible to the professionals, making the perfect crafty DIY Texas wedding. To see more of this wedding captured by Elissa R Photography be sure to click here.

From Diana:

There were a few things I knew I wanted from the beginning. I wanted my wedding at Mercury Hall, a beautiful venue in central Austin, and I wanted Sam Doores and the Tumbleweeds to play – everything else I built around these two things. I tried to save money in all the areas that were feasible, but also knew where to spend it. For things I could not tackle myself, I found wonderful vendors, my caterer was amazing, my florist created the most beautiful arrangements of succulents and yellow billy balls that tied the wedding together, and of course my photographer was out of this world.

We are lucky enough to be blessed with a large group of very talented friends, and it was through their help that we were not only able to have the wedding we envisioned, but to stay in budget too. We have a friend who is a great cook make our cake and all the pies, and a mixologist designed our signature cocktails. Not to mention the fact that my husband, being an owner of Austin Beerworks (a local brewery), took care of the beer. In addition, we had an entire team of worker bees get to the venue two hours ahead of time to set up. The day of the event I had decided that I would be happy with however they decorated, since I would have no control over it, but I didn’t need that encouragement; it was absolutely perfect.

The wedding party wore clothing perfect for spring, sun dresses from Urban Outfitters for the girls and linen suits for the boys. I decided that since I was getting married I might as well have two dresses, so half way through I swapped out my beautiful lace wedding dress for a fun and swirly short dancing dress. Between the outdoor dance party on the lawn and the photobooth inside, our guests had a wonderful time through the night.

I also took on an insane amount of DIY craft projects to make the event personal. I made a pinwheel backdrop for the photobooth by creating pinwheels out of scrapbook paper and adhering them to twine dangling from dowel rods. The table centerpieces were decorated with wine bottles that had been collected over our entire engagement, felt flower garlands on twine, and paper pinwheels. I had my florist make beautiful succulent and billy ball boutonnieres for the wedding party, and I created fabric ones for family. All our signs and table numbers were picture frames and plates painted with chalkboard paint. For our favors, I wanted something that our guests could actually use, so, in their interest, I created an aphrodisiac love tea. An herbalist friend advised me on which herbs would best and I ordered them in bulk online. I then combined them into reusable tea bags and had a rubber stamp made to label each tag.

Handmade Vintage Carnival Wedding

There are so many noteworthy weddings to swoon over, but we have to say our next wedding is quite magical. James & Georgina set out to create a wedding that was bright, colorful and super fun. They wanted it to have a handmade feel that was overflowing with personal touches. They didn’t want their wedding just to say Georgina and James, they wanted it to shout it from rooftops. As you can clearly see, they did exactly that.

Captured by one of our favorite Australian wedding photographers Feather + Stone. You simply must see more of this handmade vintage carnival wedding in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Georgina:

When James and I started dreaming up our “Vintage Carnival” wedding, we had no idea just how rewarding all of our efforts would be on the day. Seeing our loved ones, both young and old, having a bash at croquet, my 92 and 99 year old grandparents eating fairy floss off a stick and watching everybody dancing the night away under strings of exposed bulbs and a night sky full of stars was truly the most magical experience of my life.

We set out to create a wedding that was bright and colourful and fun. We wanted it to have a very handmade feel and we made a lot of the little touches ourselves. We didn’t want our wedding just to say George and James, we wanted it to shout it from rooftops!! We had all these crazy ideas and Trudy and Nadia, the legends and creators of dreams, from Lovebird Weddings, brought them to life for us. It was so much more amazing than I ever could have imagined! And lucky for the us, the ridiculously talented Seth and Tenielle from Feather + Stone have captured our day so beautifully that for the rest of our lives we will be able to look at our photos and be transported back to the magical Big Top and the Spectacular that was our wedding!

How much fun is the ceremony site? Haystacks with mismatched blankets and a lace alter cabana. A rustic table was set up next to the cabana with a book and simple can of flowers for signing the wedding documents. There are a ton more photos in the full gallery to check out of the ceremony site by clicking here.

From Feather + Stone:

Working with James & George was an absolute joy. I’ve never seen two people celebrate with as much gusto as these two did. Documenting James’ expression as Georgina walked down the aisle has been one of the most memorable things we’ve ever witnessed. This was a celebration in every sense of the word, from the spontaneous dancing mid ceremony through to the dancing under the stars that continued into the wee hours of the morning. James & Georgina’s wedding really “them” and anyone who witnessed it, from their guests through to the vendors, saw it clearly. There’s something so amazing when two people put every bit of themselves, their personalities, their story into their planning, when it comes to the day it’s one of the most beautiful celebrations you’ll ever witness.

One of our favorite elements was the punch bar. Georgina and James set up a long table filled with mismatched vintage tea cups for the fruity punch. Such a clever and unique idea … don’t you think? The dining area was equally as fabulous. Still keeping with the mismatched theme, they lined the tables with mixed china and loosely arranged florals in a variety of vases. Each table had an old window frame propped up against it with that table’s guests.

The couple seemed to hit the nail on the head with each and every one of their selections, including their wedding stationery. Royal Steamline created their vintage carnival wedding invites. Royal Steamline also happens to be one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors, you can see more of their work by clicking here.

Kentucky Derby Wedding Ideas

On the first Saturday of every May, a time honored tradition takes place ever, The Kentucky Derby. Mint Juleps are flowing, all the ladies are wearing their fashion-forward hats and everyone is in high spirits. It seems only natural to turn this happy-go-lucky affair into a wedding theme, and that is exactly what Holly Gerard of Mile High Bride did. Read on to hear Holly’s Kentucky Derby wedding ideas.

You can see more beautifully captured images by Laura Murray Photography in the full gallery.

From Holly:

Pink & Yellow were chosen as the colors because of their nod to spring. We played everything off of those two colors with the addition of white details as well. I had a great time making menus and other various paper goods for the shoot, all horse-inspired as well! I purchased some vintage postcards to also tie in with the classy-vintage southern wedding theme.

All the flowers were also a nod to spring by choosing what was available this time of year in the color scheme with bits of mint added in to make them tie in a bit with the mint julep. Mint Juleps are the signature drink of the derby to it was fun to tie them into the design with the flowers and with the juleps themselves. The pecan pies were completely inspired by all the southern traditions that go along with the derby. There is just something so romantic feeling about southern traditions, a great theme to go with for wedding inspiration for sure!

A DIY Purple Rustic Wedding

Purple seems to be the rising star around here, it has graced our pages regularly in every shade imaginable. Honoring this love affair with the regal hue, we have  Natalie and Eric’s DIY purple rustic wedding held at the Twin Oaks House and Gardens in San Diego, California.

This secluded venue features artistic and poetic gardens inspired by love, imagination and tranquility. Obviously the couple wanted to capture all those things in their wedding decor and details, spending tons of time creating the centerpieces and DIY touches. Captured by San Diego wedding photographer Priscila Valentina Photography. You can see more in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Natalie:

We fell in love as coworkers at Starbucks. After two years of dating Eric popped the question and within a few days we were investigating venues. Immediately after seeing Twin Oaks House and Gardens we were sold. Eric and I felt that a woodsy/garden vibe seemed to capture our personalities well, and we tried to portray that in our decor as well as other elements in the wedding. Being the fourth sibling in my family to get married, we had a lot of support and experience to help us out.

As you know we adore a good chalk board sign. Natalie made this super cute one that says, ” If I was a flower growing wild and free. All I’d want is for you to be my sweet honey bee.” Underneath they listed the bridal party what a great alternative to a traditional wedding programs. Incredibly cute!

In lue of a candle or sand ceremony we opted for what is called “God’s Knot” which was a fun project for my mom and me to create, and now resides in our home as a meaningful decorative piece.

We spent a lot of time creating the centerpieces ourselves as well as the rest of the flowers for the wedding. My good friend and bridesmaid, Erin Alexander, created the incredible silk floral arrangement that is hung over the gazebo. Though the venue was beautiful by itself, we were able to add DIY touches here and there such as the chalkboard signs, which helped us save on our budget. We were also able to get creative with our guestbook, using a suitcase for notes in the place of your average book.

The venue’s staff was amazing, especially Megan, our Day-Of Coordinator who made everything run so smoothly. Our DJ, Paul Peterson, was a blast and perfectly captured the classic rock/folk vibe we sought. Last but not least, the amazing photographer duo from Priscila Valentina Photography captured our day better than we ever could have imagined. They were so accommodating, showing up early, and staying late so that we could get the most photos possible of the day.

Advice To Other Brides:
My advice to other brides who are wanting a DIY feel is to plan your projects well ahead of time so as not to become too overwhelmed. Most importantly, make sure to stay true to your vision no matter what opinions others may have. Remember, it is your wedding, have fun with it!

Real Mad Men Wedding Designed By David Tutera

Jason and Taylor love the impeccable ’60s-inspired style of the hit show Mad Men. They also wanted their wedding to  feel like a place they take clients for drinks and dinner. Seems simple enough … right? Apparently not,  Taylor had a hard time finding anything that looked like, “Mad Men” theme without looking cheap or cheesy. The only thing that seemed to be spot on with her initial planning process was our Mad Men Save The Date.

Lucky for Jason and Taylor, David Tutera from My Fair Wedding  came into the picture and took over. Arranging every detail for their Mad Men inspired wedding. The entire celebration went off without a hitch and was more then they could ever imagine. Read on to hear more from the bride and be sure to see more retro inspired wedding ideas from this real Mad Men wedding by clicking here. All captured by Matt & Molly Snelson of Mathieu Photography.

Filming with the crew was awesome. It sounds so cliche but by the end I didn’t notice the cameras. I felt like these were my friends from way back in the day and we were just catching up. Both Jason and I really gave David full rein of our wedding. We had no strings attached. We knew it was going to be fantastic. I don’t think we knew how amazing. I would have never dreamed that I would be doing a photo shoot on the set of “Mad Men” or to get married there. I mean I joked around with my family when they said, “What do you think David will do?” My response was, “Put us on the set to say I do.” I said it thinking no way on God’s green Earth was that a possibility.

Everything on my wedding day went off without a hitch, or if a hitch happened I didn’t know about it because the crew handled it. I got to be like so many Grooms. I showed up and got dressed and then married. I didn’t stress about the caterer, florist, or rentals. I sat up in the suite with my girls and Mom. That is the way everyone should get married.

Jason and I chose the theme of “Mad Men” because when we first got engaged I asked Jason what he wanted for the wedding. His reply was, “To get married in the Galapagos Islands, to not wear a tux, to have a “Seinfeld” themed wedding cake, a whiskey and cigar bar. I vowed to have him not wear a tux, to have a whiskey and cigar bar. I looked into the rest but they were kinda out there requests. From what I could do I thought I could make the whiskey and cigar bar have a lounge feel like in “Mad Men.” I wanted it to feel like the place they take clients for drink and dinner. Jason and I are big into retro fashion, especially the sixties, so the concept just kinda snowballed from there.

When I saw Jason at the end of the aisle, tears were instantly in my eyes. Jason and I have been together for 8 years. It was long over due, because I have known that he was “The One” since our first date. David and his team made Jason far more handsome than Donald Draper ever could be, which I know was an easy job. My officiant was my Uncle Timmers, it was his first wedding and truly I think he knocked it out of the park. Every tear shed was of pure happiness and love

My photographers were the only thing that I was allowed to keep when David changed everything, although if he had tried to change them I would have fought to the death to keep them. I know that they have been to some crazy weddings, but between the filming schedule and my family they were able to get the most amazing shots of Jason and I that I will cherish for a lifetime and more. Not only were Molly and Matt able to take charge and get the shots they needed to they are such professionals and amazing people that they brought out the true Jason and Taylor moments. Jason and I are not the most photogenic people, I know everyone says that, but truly, and Molly and Matt captured that day in the photos. I loved the way they both took pictures that had the booms and cameras in the shots it capture the true essence of that day.

All in all it was a beautiful wedding. Jason and I are truly blessed. We couldn’t have “Dreamed Bigger” as David says. Thank you to everyone who helped,. some of you I will never know but I want to personally say thank you for making my wedding everything I wanted and more.

Hot Air Balloon Wedding Ideas

Punches of color make a wedding feel lively and youthful. That’s why we are suckers for adding yellow to any wedding theme. It effortlessly matches up with everything and anything. Looks especially snappy with a hot air ballon theme … don’t you think?  All this fun and playfulness was captured by one of our very own Hand-Picked Wedding photographers Lavender & Twine.

Be sure to read on as these central coast wedding vendors go into more detail on this playful inspirational shoot. So many many more pretty pictures to swoon over in the full gallery. You have to see a close up of this yellow cake and you will fall in love with these hot air balloon table numbers designed by Lilly & Louise.

From: Lavender & Twine.

Tenley Erin Young, named “America’s Best Floral Designer” after winning the TV Show “The Arrangement”, designed the gorgeous florals to enhance the lemon yellow used in the attire. She worked with billy balls, dusty millers, parrot tulips, hydrangea, succulents and greens. We especially love the bouquet–so unique!

Lilly & Louise took our ideas and ran with them, translating our Hot Air Balloon Wedding Ideas into the most precious invitation suite that tied everything together perfectly.

This lemon-themed shoot was inspired by a beautiful local venue, Limoneira Ranch in Santa Paula CA. It is a hidden gem, known for both their delicious lemons (a real working ranch!) and hot air balloons. It’s tucked away in the hills and when you drive up to the Ranch you drive through towering eucalyptus trees, and miles of lemon groves. The site is amazing with several wedding locations on the property, which allows each of it’s couples to customize their wedding to fit their own personal vision.

We wanted a fun and playful look, and to inspire bride’s who love a pop of color we incorporated yellow into different parts of the bride and groom’s attire. Our bride is wearing a sweet short gown by La Soie Bridal – Santa Barbara. We wanted to add a little ‘zest’ with her accessories; the sweater is from Forever 21 and the adorable satin shoes are by Nina Shoes. The bride’s birdcage veil was handmade by VVeronique Coleccion.

For the groom we stumbled upon Me and Matilda who handmade the Gingham print suspenders and tie to match the rest of our vision. We completed his look with khakis and a white shirt from Gap and penny loafers from Bass.

Rustic Table Decor Ideas

To make sure you have a few steal worthy ideas for your next event,  Caroline & Evan Photography and Every Last Detail collaborated to bring you some rustic table decor ideas. Not only are they eye-catching, but they are doable and affordable. The best combination in our book.

Perfect for your wedding, rehearsal dinner or whenever you feel like entertaining. With hand-drawn place-mats that incorporate your menu, custom wine labels and buckets of flatware,  you have a rustic elegant table scape. You must see all the images in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Every Last Detail:

The linen, known as a “Dress Up” linen from Under Stella’s Umbrella, was a little rustic and a little elegant. So I decided to go with a more casual take on the tablescape, incorporating a more “picnic” feel to everything. A&P Design Co. created hand-drawn place-mats that incorporated a menu, killing two birds with one stone. They also created a custom wine label, allowing for a bottle wine to be placed on the table family-style. Add in buckets of flatware, a tray of rosemary rolls with olive oil, and mason jars to act as place-cards, and you have a rustic elegant tables-cape!

Some other fun details: FiftyFlowers had a rosemary wreath that escort cards were attached to, and I also added little Mr & Mrs signs to the antique chairs that were at the table.

We love the plaque chalkboard stickers. For $9 you get 15 you can use them for table numbers or place cards. Place them on miss mismatched vintage glass bottles or the tried and true mason jars.

Homespun Yellow Wedding Ideas

As an art student, Jacky was eager to have a DIY wedding and craft her heart away. She was positive she wanted a homespun wedding with a vintage feel. While doing many of the projects on her own like the super cute boutonnieres for the groomsman, she also got a little help from a friend we like to call Etsy.

From the hand-embroidered felt wedding bouquets to the coordinating lemon yellow and gray suspenders, Jackie spent quite a bit of time on Etsy and whole heartedly recommends it. You can see more homespun yellow wedding ideas in the full gallery captured by White Rabbit Studios.

One of our main wedding tips is to make your groom comfortable, and let him choose to show if his personal style too. That’s exactly what Mike did. he went with a gray suit and a Yellow and Gray Retro Dot Bow Tie, finishing off the look with a pair of yellow converse. Keeping consistent with the color scheme, but adding a little personal flavor to the look.

From Jacky:
As an art student I always knew I wanted a DIY wedding. With the new trend with mason jars, I was excited to create my own centerpieces with river rocks and artificial flowers! I wanted my theme to be pretty, but very close to home with a vintage homemade feel about it. Making the boutonnieres out of felt was probably my favorite! And the guys loved that they could keep them. And it was so surprisingly easy to make. I also enjoyed making my own Shutterfly guest book. It made the idea so much more personal being able to include my own pictures and text. I immediately fell in Love with the yellow and gray color scheme!

When things are hard, Mike always tells me that I’m his sunshine when skies are gray. :) Thus the appearance of yellow emerging from the gray – and black here and there for a more intense contrast. I followed Wedding Chick’s Pinterest and although we were working in a tight budget, I found ways around my favorite ideas to make them affordable to me. So I purchased a lot of my accessories from stores at Etsy.com. If I had more money or time, these things would have been handmade by me as well, but I’m so happy with the vendors I bought from that I whole heartily suggest everyone else to shop with them too! Everything from my jewelry, Mike’s bow-tie & suspenders, to my guest book tree poster! It all made my wedding more personal and I loved it. White Rabbit Studios’ photography only further enhanced the atmosphere. It was everything I wanted. Through their camera lenses, I feel like things became more magical. I felt like I was living in a dream that day.

Vineyard Wedding At Justin Vineyards & Winery

Justin Vineyards in Paso Robles is one of those locations that you can count on for an exquisite vineyard wedding. Offering an elegant wine-country style wedding  amidst some breathtaking vineyards. Add in some beautiful florals by one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors April Flowers and you are guaranteed to have a stunning event. See more of this Justin Vineyards wedding in the full gallery. Captured by William McKee. Be sure to check out more beautiful vineyard wedding by clicking here.

From The Bride On Justin Vineyards & Winery
Our wedding planning happened pretty easily. Jeff and I were living on the East Coast when we met several years ago. Over Christmas vacations, we would travel back to Los Angeles (where I grew up) to visit my parents and escape to the sunshine and warmth. It quickly became an annual tradition of ours to drive up to the Central Coast for wine tasting and relaxation, which is where we first fell in love with Justin Vineyards. When we arrived at Justin for the first time, the grounds blew us away. The location is secluded and peaceful – not only an escape from the big city, but even escape from the small towns in the area! It was a dream and when we went saw it we both remarked what a lovely spot it would be for a wedding. A few years later after Jeff proposed, we quickly knew that Justin would be our spot.

After selecting the location, the vendors were next up. I scoured website and blogs looking for inspiration for my own wedding and trying to match vendor styles with my own. I found April Flowers after coming across a blog that presented a wedding that I fell in love with. The flowers had a sophisticated yet rustic elegance, which was exactly what I wanted. The use of different textures and styles created depth and individuality and I knew then that April is who I wanted.

From The Blog on Her Wedding Vendors

William McKee the photographer was also instrumental in making our day so special. I found the photographer from the same blog where I found April. After several phone conversations and our engagement shoot, William quickly felt more like a friend and helped the day to feel so relaxed. Also, his work is so beautiful that we’re still having trouble deciding which ones to put into a book!
Niki and Jonnell of Events Redefined brought the whole thing together seamlessly. I had several vendors remark how thorough and well-planned everything was. They completely took the weight off my shoulders and made the day stress-free. Overall, we wanted our wedding to be a small and simple rustic wedding at twilight. (In fact, our wedding had only 35 people total, including us!) It was important to me to personalize our big day by handcrafting a large share of the decorations. My mom, bridesmaid, and I spent many summer evenings making burlap wreaths while drinking wine and enjoying girly conversation. Also, I’m a lace girl and looked for ways to incorporate it into the wedding. While not overtly obvious, there were lace-like details on the strung paper doilies around the cocktail/dancing tent and in the wooden clothespin decorations used on the cupcake table.”

Rustic Wedding With BHLDN Bridesmaid Dresses

You know we are suckers for a good old fashion love story. Ethan and Carol, our next bride and groom, courted for their entire relationship and weren’t alone in a car together until they drove away from their reception. That is something you do not hear everyday.

Besides there classic love story, they had a fabulous rustic wedding with lemon inspired wedding details and a few hot bridesmaids in some BHLDN Bridesmaid Dresses. See more of this rustic wedding captured by Sara Lucero Photography in the full gallery.

Every bride and her bridesmaids relationships are extra special, for carol and her bridesmaids it was bitter sweet. She was the last friend to get married, so it was the last time they would get all dolled up together, wear matching dresses and be bridesmaids one last time.

Vintage Wedding In The City From Jagger Photography

Jake and Kim met at a New Years Eve party at a mutual friend’s house on the last day of 2006. It was love at first sight and they danced the night away to “Sexy Back” (which was played at their wedding!). Who doesn’t love a little Justin Timberlake at their wedding?

It started out as a long distance relationship and three years later they married at the World Trade Center Seattle, a modern location with a vintage feel. See more of this vintage wedding in The city  captured by Jagger Photography  by clicking here.

On Their First Look:
While I love farm/outdoor weddings, we always knew we would get married in the city – this was another way that we incorporated “modern” into the wedding. My husband and I picked out a parking garage downtown that we would do our first look at – we wanted to be right in the middle of the city. We love the contrast in the photos we took in the parking garage as it’s an edgy, gritty environment while we are in our finest garb. I have always loved standing out and doing things a little different, which is why I painted my nails greige and altered my dress to be more “me”. It came with a large bow which I replaced with a soft, wispy flower. It turned out perfect!

On The Details And the Cute Wedding Date Patch:
I have always had a special place in my heart for vintage even though I consider myself a modern woman. I would see modern weddings on blogs with details I loved and vintage weddings with the coolest elements too – I thought, why can’t I do both? I decided our wedding theme would be vintage/modern so I could incorporate both worlds – I could use an old vintage typewriter as a guestbook and train case to hold cards, and I could also have a modern dress made out of organza with pockets! I scoured etsy to find the perfect jewelry. I found earrings and a bracelet that both matched my vintage theme. I also found an adorable patch with a heart around my wedding day that I had sewn into my dress. For my something old (and borrowed), I wore my best friend and maid of honor’s ring that has been passed down for several generations. My something blue was a bobbypin hidden in my hair from my bridesmaids. My something new was my dress itself. As far as colors go, I have always loved neutrals with a pop of color – I selected yellow and gray as our colors after spending hours and hours perusing wedding blogs. I love how yellow pops against the grey bridesmaid dresses and suits.

How lovely are the wedding invites from one of our Hand Picked wedding vendors  The Aerialist Press ? You can visit their Hand Picked page by clicking here.

The Ceremony:
Our ceremony and reception were both held at the World Trade Center Seattle on the downtown Seattle waterfront. It was supposed to be in the high 70s (which I was kind of dreading that it would be too hot) but ended up to be in the mid 60’s and a little overcast which was perfect for outdoor pictures! The actual wedding day was truly the best day of my life. I simply cannot explain what it’s like to have all your friends and family gathered together for you in the same place, all in the name of love. It was so magical. As cliché as it sounds, everything really does come together and on the day of the wedding some of my vendors remarked that I was the calmest bride they have ever seen! The actual ceremony was my favorite part. I loved walking down the aisle and meeting my fiancé at the end. We recently watched our homemade video of the ceremony and it brought me to tears. I love that we will be able to show that to our children someday.

Their Budget:
The most important thing to us was photography so we were willing to invest more on that then say, flowers or decor. We found husband and wife team Jagger Photography and they were a perfect match for us! We loved working with them and had an awesome time taking pictures on our wedding day. They were able to keep us on track schedule wise but also capture spontaneous and real pictures. Love that!

San Diego Spanish Style Wedding

Emily and Abe wanted a small intimate wedding that really focused on the details of who they were as a couple. Rancho Valencia was the perfect setting because it already gave off the Spanish Hacienda feel which was the look Emily and Abe were going for.

Abe, the groom – being the talented artist he is – designed all the paper goods for the wedding. They were also huge dessert fans so their dessert display was very elaborate with key lime pies, churro flavored cupcakes, macaroons, cake pops and homemade mexican cookies. All beautifully planned out by LVL Weddings & Events.  There are so many more beautiful images to see in the full gallery captured by Paula Luna.

We love all the details that Emily and Abe incorporated into their Spanish Style Wedding, especially the mini tequila bottles used as escort cards. You can choose any tequila, the couple went with small bottles of Patron Anejo Tequila for $8 a bottle, placed guests name and table numbers on natural paper and tied it around the bottle. Making for an easy yet festive escort card and wedding favor. Olé!

You definitley need to sit back, relax and watch Emily and Abe’s film captured by one of our favorites Joel Serrato Films.

Honey Bee Wedding Ideas

Thinking of adding a little honey love to your wedding? You really can go so many directions with this theme, and Michelle Lemley shows us some incredibly cute ideas to incorporate the sweet stuff into your wedding. Like dressing your bridesmaids in sunny yellow dresses and having some way cute bee worthy wedding florals to go with everything. Courtesy of Pink Posey Design, you have to see more way cute honey bee wedding ideas in the full gallery.

From: Michelle Lemley

Here is how a bride can create a DIY Honey bee wedding. Of course, the best place to start gathering ideas is to find that first inspiration piece. Ours was a gorgeous plate from Anthropologie that had a honey bee in the center. By looking at the accent colors on the plate we came up with colors for the flowers & décor. Those included light green, yellow & black, ivory, and soft gold. Then I was able to find beautiful ribbon to wrap the honey sticks & charming stickers to label the honey jars. As far as décor I was determined to find charming details that would boast a soft & sweet appearance. Enter honey bee napkins holders and honey bee bottle caps. To my delight, I found adorable wooden honey sticks to compliment the honey and tea cups.

The same day I discovered a light yellow teapot with honey bees engraved in the porcelain. We also had vintage white tea cups and plates that were perfect for our tea and honey bar.
The florist used black & white ribbon for one bouquet. She also created a one of kind bouquet with yellow rose petals resembling one large rose bouquet with a shimmer of white ribbon. The flowers included daisies, roses, billy balls, gladiolas, and anemone’s. They were simply stunning and one can never go wrong with yellow! Don’t forget about the sweets! Our amazing baker created a fluffy ivory cupcake with a beautiful Ivory & yellow flower on top. Finally, I knew I needed to start looking for the Bride & Bridesmaids dresses. I found a gorgeous yellow dress from Urban Outfitters that had an open back. Then we went to Blue Bridal and found the loveliest Tara Keely gown that incorporated the southern belle/sweetness appeal. The end result was a bright and colorful palette with sweet honey, tea, champagne & a gorgeous sunny day.

Rustic Wedding Ideas

This look was designed by Utah Events by Design and highlights everything that’s fun and sweet about a rustic-styled wedding in Utah. The color pallet of this design consists of colors often found in Utah’s beautiful mountain scape such as mustard yellow, cool aqua, browns and deep burgundy. The ever-popular rustic style is accentuated in this shoot with appropriately themed table décor: Bird’s nest plate chargers hug pottery-inspired china accented with paisley patterned linens.

See more rustic wedding ideas in the full gallery. All beautifully captured by Amy Cloud McFarland.

Freshly Minted Invitations created the adorable invitation suite including the paper embellishments on the table. Throughout the décor, there are tons of stylish and theme-appropriate paper elements and embellishments sporting the popular “chevron” pattern to add a flare of modern trend to this rustic shoot.

Red Cliff Ranch
This lovely inspiration shoot was photographed and filmed at the breath-taking Red Cliff Ranch in Heber Utah. This venue provided Utah Events by Design with the perfect outdoor setting. And the large, traditional-style barn welcomed our team with the ultimate rustic elegance for our table setting. Outside the barn, we were surrounded by the gorgeous Red Cliffs in the east, and stunning views of the Rocky Mountains in the west.

The dessert buffet is adorned with fresh fruit that complements the color pallet including some tasty treats such as Utah Kettle Corn, country lemonade, and simple cupcakes sprinkled with crushed walnuts. Below you will see the amazing cake created by Cake-a-Licious. This three-tier cake smothered in thick layers of butter cream. A natural wood stump provides the perfect cake stand, and the couple’s initials are carved in a cute wood heart accent piece to incorporate the rustic charm of the event design.

How to Throw a Barn Wedding

We couldn’t wait to share today’s wedding with you! This lovely barn wedding was photographed by one of our absolute favorite southern wedding photographers, Austin Gros. It is truly a picture guide on how to throw a barn wedding.

Amanda and Lucas’s Tennessee wedding could not have been more perfect. All the details were impeccably and thoughtfully planned out in only six months. With comfort in mind along with a, “southern-style” you will love this laid-back wedding held at  Southall Eden, a private farm located just 6 miles outside of Franklin, Tennesse. Be sure to see all the images in the full wedding gallery.

From the Bride:

“Once Lucas and I got engaged in February last year, our wedding planning began almost instantaneously. From the very start, it was extremely important to both of us to have a wedding that was “us.” We also both knew we wanted a venue that would take full advantage of the beautiful rolling hills, laid-back charm and rural setting of our hometown, Nashville, Tennessee. With only 7 months to plan, we were very fortunate to stumble upon Southall Eden, a private farm located just 6 miles outside of Franklin, Tennessee. The setting could not have been more perfect! It really set the mood for the day. Our guests were able to kick off their heels, loosen their ties and just enjoy celebrating with us. Comfort was key! We tried to incorporate that theme in everything from the “southern-style” catering to the bridesmaid’s dresses. I’m thrilled beyond words with how everything turned out. Lucas and I had the time of our lives at our wedding. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to kick off the rest of our lives together!”

San Francisco Wedding By Emily Scannell Photography

With a chic aesthetic all their own, Karla and Aspen’s Walnut Creek wedding was filled with style and some seriously fabulous steal-worthy ideas. Their closest friends and family stepped up to give these two brides and unforgettably gorgeous day.

Their friends decorated the space, bought and arranged all of the gorgeous flowers in the reception, prepared delicious food, performed as DJ’s at the reception and even found two pomegranate trees for their ceremony site. As you will see, everyone’s love and support was truly reflected. There are so many more pretty pictures from Emily Scannell Photography that you must see in the full gallery.

We are in awe over this super hip wedding invitations. Karla (bride) designed all of paper goods you see., including the custom beer and wine bottle labels. I am pretty sure she designed the way cute CDs we gush about below.

One of our favorite steal worthy ideas from Karla and Aspen’s wedding was their personalized wedding favors/escort cards. It looks like they made personalized music mixes for each of their guests. Within the CD you would then find your table assignment. Tables were then named after bands like Radiohead, and placed on wine bottles. We wonder if they placed the guests at tables that had similar music tastes. We love love this idea and for sure would be at the Madonna table.

We love love the idea of a having a Mexican Taco Party at your wedding. Nothing says delicious like authentic Mexican street tacos and all the fixings. Delicious! Another great idea these two ladies had was having their friends and family bring dishes to accompany the tacos.

For dessert, they had a traditional wedding cake and then had Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. bring an ice cream cart to make sundaes. Both incredibly great ideas…right?

Wisconsin Anthropology Inspired Wedding

When you have a beautiful bride, a sweet groom, an ultra stylish (and entertaining) bridal party, and a simply stunning setting -there’s no way the day is going to be anything but spectacular! Kelsey and Dave planned a brilliant Anthropology-inspired wedding that was the perfect combination of comfortable & organic, yet chic and full of so much love.

The bridesmaids’ vintage floral dresses complimented the groomsmens’ pastel bow-ties, suspenders & TOMS, as did Kelsey’s vintage style dress and Dave’s pale yellow cardigan… and this doesn’t even touch on all their fun details at the reception that filled The Enchanted Barn! Our favorite is the embroidered table numbers from The Bakery Home and Design. So cute…right? Magnificently captured by Wisconsin husband and wife duo  The McCartneys Photography. You can see more of this Anthropology Inspired Wedding by visiting the full wedding gallery.

Guess where Kelsey & Dave got their insanely awesome free wedding programs? They got them right here on the Wedding Chicks! You can download your own Heart and Arrow Custom Monogram by clicking here. All you need is some paper, a printer and a little bit of creativity. The Heart and Arrow Custom Monograms are available in an array of colors. It’s so easy and a super cute freebie!

Pastel Wedding Ideas

Pretty pastels are all the rage. Minty greens, soft pinks and sky blues are popping up everywhere these days. Sunny Ravanbach of White Lilac Inc had a vision of for Details Details Coordinator CONFAB inspirational shoot, that was right on with this latest fashion trend.

Using this season’s hottest colors and the ombre rage, White Lilac designed a whimsical table set up that is truly going to inspire you. You can see more of these pastel wedding ideas in the full gallery by clicking here.

From Details Details:

After Sunny gave me her thoughts about color, I connected with Elaine from Papermade Designs who created several layouts of the invitation. The watercolor ombre colors translated well, with the softness of pastel ranging from pale aqua to mint to butter to peach.  A lace applique pattern was added to add a layer of depth to the design and was replicated on the cake and lace applique dress was also chosen. Hand dyed paper doilies with hand written names of the guests attending the seminar.  Those were carefully placed on custom made napkins, with double sided fabric, one being a butter cotton eyelet.

Sunny purchased Original Pucci fabric to create the custom runner, showing with ombre colors gradating down the table, along with mint green cake stands on one end of the table, and butter yellow on the other end with pale peach pink in the center.  A collection of paper wrapped boxes with over a thousand macaroons and cakes intermixed. Two different patterned spearmint colored custom chair covers were created to soften the hard wood table. An abundant array of pastel gigantic balloons tied with silky ribbons swayed over the table while a clear white tent kept most from flying away!
We combined Claus Porto Pastille Soaps to create the ombre effect needed when one would open their wedding favor box.

From: White Lilac Inc
A play on pastel colors deviating from the traditional tone on tone with use of patterns with Pucci print runner , whimsical colored papers with multiple patterns , tied together with solid pastels we are familiar with via oversized balloons in shades of light yellow pastel peach and sky blue . The table is anchored with a heavy solid wood table and solid mint green chair covers also in varying textures . The addition of numerous color blocked cake holders adds the final festive whimsical touch

Fall Inspired Wedding Decor

It only seemed fitting that we shared a little something from Portland since we just left the eclectic city. Captured by Diana Marie Photography and styled to perfection by Fleur:ology (who we had the pleasure of meeting at our little mixer.) All of this fall inspired wedding decor is surely to inspire you if you are planning an end of the year wedding celebration.

Besides all the luxurious wedding details, we have to mention the blushing pink wedding dress by AniA Couture. We certainly hope to see more of you pretty ladies in wedding gowns with a tint of color. Who does not look pretty pink? There are so many more photographs to see in the full wedding gallery by clicking here.

Loving how Fleur:ology mixed subdued neutrals with surprise pops of bright color, keeping with the fall theme but adding a little bit of sunshine to the overall look and feel. The fall rustic treats are all made by One Divine Party (whom we also had the pleasure of meeting). All the tasty treats looking absolutely amazing.

From The Bride:

No matter how many weddings you’ve attended, worked on, been in, or read about, there is nothing like planning your own. Being a part of the wedding industry is an amazing blessing. But being a bride on the other side of things, I felt a lot of pressure at first, mostly self-inflicted. With our engagement being a short 10 weeks, Devon pulled me aisde one day, hugged me, and reminded me, “This isn’t for the industry. This is for us.” Words of the man I fell in love with. From there, wedding planning was as purposeful as the gravitational pull of the Earth. We poured out love into every detail, because we wanted that love to be shown and shared with our guests. Every part of the wedding was designed to invite our guests to share in our favorite parts of life together.

Our logo and invitation suite was designed by Amanda, my boss at In The Now, my mentor, friend and cheerleader in this whole wedding process. Along with the entire ITN team, each vendor that was picked with care, people who were stoked about life and passionate about what they do – and it showed! We were blessed to have them carry out such a cohesive, love-centered event.  Devon and I walked down the aisle together, to reflect that we were entering into this marriage together. His dad was our officiant. We picked our weekly date night food truck as our caterers, to share that special experience with our guests. Our last dance was to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. Each choice surrounding the wedding meant something to us. Our wedding had a clear message to start our marriage off right and to share a very important message to our guests: love each other.

Crafty Fun Caballos Ranch Wedding

It may be the middle of winter, but that will not stop us from sharing a litte more bright and colorful prettiness with you. This time we are headed for San Luis Obispo, California; home to one of our favorite Hand-Picked florists April Flowers. This top notch floral designer is responsible for that beautiful bouquet above and all the sweet and lovely flowers at this crafty fun Caballos Ranch Wedding. You can see so much more from  Samuel Potter in the full wedding gallery by clicking here.

From the bride….
As soon as Tim and I saw the Flying Caballos Ranch portrayed on a wedding blog, we knew it was where we’d get married.  We booked it before we even saw it in person!  With most of our family travelling from out-of-state, we knew we wanted to maximize time with them, so we booked the ranch for the whole weekend so our intermediate family could stay on property with us.  We invited all the out-of-town family to a casual rehearsal barbeque on Friday night as well as a brunch on Sunday morning.  It all turned out so well! Everyone had such a fun time together.
Planning was actually a lot of fun!  It’s kind of amazing to look back and see how it all just came together!  We wanted a fun, festive, this-is-us feeling to exude from the moment our guests stepped on the ranch.  I think we achieved hat through all the crafty projects we worked so hard on – the bunting flags, hand-made napkins, yarn-wrapped wine bottles, burlap table runners.  My Mom was so amazing – she made the embroidered table numbers and the sock monkey cake toppers as well as revamping her wedding veil so I could wear it; that was so special to me.  We carefully chose all of the music to reflect our personalities and were lucky enough to find a fantastic local rock/blues band play at cocktail hour.  We bought all of our wine from the winery where we got engaged in Sonoma. I whole-heartedly believe the whole event wouldn’t have come together without all the help from our family and friends in the days leading up to the big day. And our vendors!  They were all just fabulous!  It was so fun to work with each of them.  They totally ‘got’ us and made very helpful suggestions to help make our day so special.  We live in bustling San Francisco and it was so refreshing to go to San Luis Obispo every other month and enjoy the laid-back attitude and beauty of the area.  Sure there were hiccups during the planning process and, of course, on the actual day, but we were just so happy to finally get married. And to make those vows in such a special place.  It was truly our dream wedding!

New Jersey Wedding Fernbrook Farms Wedding

Here at The Wedding Chicks, we love sharing a good wedding venue with you. Without an exception, Fernbrook Farms in New Jersey is a perfect place for all you tri-state brides looking for a little something rustic with a whole lot of elegance. With large gardens, vast lawns and farm fields, Fernbrook has a wonderful ability to transform itself into exactly what you are looking for on your day.

You can definitely see that in our next wedding from J-Anderson Photography. To see more of Fernbrook Farms Wedding be sure to click here. On a side note, how about those red wedding shoes from Manolo Blahnik. Super gorgeous.

From The Bride:

“Jeff & I knew that we wanted a wedding that was a little bit elegant, a little bit relaxed/outdoorsy and a lot of fun. We looked all over the tri-state area to find a wedding venue that could fit the bill without being a wedding hall and when we saw Fernbrook Farms knew that it was just right. Fernbrook has an 18th century farm house that has been turned into a bed & breakfast, a few semi-formal gardens & is a working 400 acre farm that the caterers source produce from for dinner.

The caterers helped us incorporate our favorite meat (pork!) into the menu, the florist helped make arrangements with vibrant flowers & succulent plants (to last forever!), our friend officiated to make our ceremony personal, our dog Sodapop joined in as part of the wedding party, all the bridesmaids/groomsmen choose their own outfits and the DJs pulled off a night of non-stop dancing!”

Bridesmaid in bright sky blue dresses, floral arrangements popping with color and a very clever way to portray the sun and clouds and the reception. This Modern Rooftop Wedding was captured by Adrienne Gunde. You can see all the photos in the full wedding gallery by clicking here.

From The Bride:

While planning the wedding, I adored all the wedding creativity I saw on wedding blogs, in particular, Wedding Chicks. We pored over the DIY & Downloads section and were tickled when we came upon the perfect Save the Dates for our wedding: the Airplane Save the Dates. We loved the retro vibe of the customized the Airplane Save the Dates to our wedding colors. To save money, we e-mailed the Save the Dates to our guests.

We wanted our wedding to pop with happy, bold colors. We love color, and our color palette began with a subdued blue and green (more specifically, Mint and Deep Ocean, according to Wedding Chicks color palette for our electronic Save the Dates) and ballooned to include sunshine yellow, hot pink, and bright orange. We also could not resist using varying shades of blue and green throughout the wedding.

The escort cards (printed on cloud address labels) and cheery yellow billy balls sprouted from beds of cotton “clouds” which filled a wooden box that adorned our escort card table.

We found a woodblock print of a cloud, which inspired our invitations. The fun customized invitations featured woodblock print clouds designed by our stationer Papercake Designs and our interpretation of the PMCA rooftop. The RSVP cards gave guests two options: “OH YES. can’t wait.” or “OH DEAR! can’t make it.” The invitation sets were mailed in sunshine yellow envelopes, and we used a typewriter font to print out each guest’s name/address to give our invitations more of a fun, retro feel.
Our amazing wedding coordinator Uyen Nguyen of Sassy Girl Weddings & Events worked with us and with our other vendors to design and incorporate cloud details into the wedding. We had loads of fun with our theme.

Eric crafted the hanging clouds floating over the guests at the rooftop reception. There were individual clouds as well as clusters. To create the hanging clouds, Eric magnified varying cloud designs from our invites, pasted the images on foam board, cut the edges to resemble clouds, and attached each ensemble to fish wire. We interspersed the hanging clouds with yellow lanterns that were an interpretation of the sun.

The PhotoBooth Sign! We printed out the freebie from the Wedding Chicks website, pasted the sign on foam board, and propped it up on a striped green tray.

DIY Kentucky Shaker Wedding

Love Bird Style sent over this super cute DIY Kentucky Shaker Wedding with some lovely handmade details. Basically everything from the programs to the hankies – all the way down to the pies – all diy projects.  Read on to hear more from the bride and enjoy these super cute photos take by Love is a big deal. By the way, how cute are the first look photos below…pretty darn cute. See more lovely photos in the full wedding gallery.

From Morgan, the bride:
The wedding programs were made by hand by my matron-of-honor.  They matched the airplanes that we tossed at the end of the ceremony, during our procession.  We wanted to incorporate Andrew’s career without overdoing the “pilot” theme.  After we picked the style of plane we wanted to create, it only took a few days of folding and gluing to have them complete!

Of course the biggest task was cutting all the fabric for the streamers.  I was lucky enough to find most of the fabric in clearance bins at local fabric shops.  I turned my parents dinning room into the fabric room.  The great thing about making the streamers was that they didn’t have to be perfect.  We didn’t worry about fraying edges since that just added to the homespun aesthetic. My goal was to create something one-of-a-kind and custom to our special day. The picture frames were spray painted and hung with airplane garland around the pie table. All the signs were handmade.  We also made the striped napkins out of fabric.

Movie Colony Hotel Wedding

You can always count on Palm Springs for a stylish wedding. Amy and Ethan had their ceremony at the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway and then headed to the Movie Colony Hotel for their wedding reception.

Keeping everything super Palm Springs, they had an Elivis impersonator as a DJ and as you see, some very stylish retro invites. All designed by the bride. After guests danced the night away, they were treated to custom doughnut boxes from Dough a Deer that matched their wedding stationery. Nothing like a sweat treat to end the night.

Rustic Yellow Wedding Ideas

Rustic yellow enthusiasts, be sure to take a peek at our next inspirational shoot.  The smell of tangy citrus and it’s vibrant color inspired Rachel Kuhn to design and photograph all of these rustic yellow wedding ideas for you to swoon over.

The paper goods crafted by Typologie & Co definitely add that extra zest to the decor. Neatly packed in colorful felt bags and adorned with multi-colored tiny puffs for that extra pop of color. To see more rustic yellow wedding ideas visit the gallery by clicking here.

Keeping with the whole citrus theme, you can easily make edible escort cards out of your favorite fruit.  Type out your guest’s name along with their table number. Gently tape or super glue it to a colorful straw and you have an instant escort card that guests will love.

Marston House Wedding

Neil & Kimberly’s wedding was at the historic Marston House in San Diego. A fabulous venue with formal gardens and canyon pathways in the shade of towering pine, eucalyptus and oak trees. Each guest was able to take a tour of the Marston House museum during the cocktail hour, walk the grounds and learn about it’s history. How lovely does that sound? See more of this Marston House Wedding captured by Jackie Wonders in the full gallery.

The bride and groom designed a day filled with character and whimsy.  One steal worthy idea is the use of  polaroid cards from Urban Outfitters. Guests wrote notes for the couple on the cards. We are quite positive that after the wedding they will display them cleverly in their home.

Navy and Yellow Wedding

Remember the You’re Every Minute of My Everyday engagement shoot? Well… we have their wedding. Antonia Christianson Events not only helped them plan their engagement shoot, but this “fun themed” navy and yellow wedding as well.

This navy and yellow weddings is overflowing with tons of personal details. One of our favorites is how the groom calls his bride “Button” so Antonia, along with the florist Fluttering Flowers, created small details with buttons (the wrap of her bouquet, small buttons on the sweetheart table, and even the word button on the hanger that held Tori’s dress). Super cute…right? To read more details and see more photos from Trivium Studio be sure to click here.

They exchanged vows beneath a majestic oak tree nestled in the center of a vineyard on Tara’s family property, Triple L D Ranch. Surrounded by friends and family, they promised to love each other without fail and continually support each other’s dreams.

Modern Wedding Centerpieces

Event Design and Coordinator Lindye Galloway Events was all about designing a tablescape filled with shapes and color. Creating the perfect modern wedding centerpieces for the a funky, outside-the-box-bride. Read on to hear more details from Lindye.

Be sure to see more modern wedding ideas in the full gallery that was captured by Katie Neal Photo.

The tablescape was all about shapes and color! The modern wood table was donned with a yellow and orange patterned runner and funky white rectangle vases lining the center. Instead of putting flowers in the mouth of the vase, Lindye decided to put flower bunches in the vase’s rectangle holes for a unique look. The table was then filled with delicious food…. seared sea scallops with lemongrass wasabi, chilled tropical soup of mango, pineapple, and mint with a chili-honey drizzle, and finally, cake. Yum!

For the ceremony Lindye Galloway Events built an alter piece that played with shapes. The structure was a tall step-like figure and was topped off with dozens of octagon tiles to give it dimension and interest. The ceremony space was completed with a fun patterned runner and benches on each side.

Southern Vintage Arizona DIY Wedding

Before we dive into this warm and inviting DIY wedding from Marianne Wilson Photography,  you must understand that it took an entire year for the couple to create their dream day. They both were hands-on spending a ton of time in antique stores looking for that perfect something to create an eclectic yet budget friendly wedding.

One amazing idea was the do-it-yourself band. They  gathered some of their most talented musician friends to create a super band. The bride goes into full detail and explains so much more here. Of course, there are so many more photos that you have to see in the full wedding gallery.

The bride’s bouquet is quite lovely. A lotus flower pod with bright yellow billy balls. Definitely one to keep for the inspiration board.

They wanted to keep our guests as refreshed as possible, but at the same time give them a little something extra. So the couple shipped in some original Coca-Cola from south of the border and let them sit on ice. Now that is what we call cool.

Glorious Down-Home Inspired Affair by Ulmer Studios

Off to Charlotte we go to visit one of our favorite Tennessee wedding vendors Ulmer Studios for the wedding of Steve & Molly. Filled with celebration with their closest friends & family on the beautiful Tennessee farm venue Front Porch Farms.

Be sure to see more rustic wedding ideas in the full wedding gallery and let us know what you think.

Introducing the most stylish flower girl ever. White eyelet dress, cowgirl boots and of course some teal mini Ray Bans. A look we are serious fans of.

The rich color palette mixed with softer arrangements for the long farm table centerpieces were a great mix of tones. Because of the heavy winds that day, the arrangements needed to be placed in cinder blocks so they could withstand any gusts of wind. The cinder blocks were then wrapped with burlap, which was a cute touch & totally fit in.

Steve & Molly & their friends are musicians, so music was a big part of their day. Their guest gift was a song that Molly sang & Steve produced along with a mix of their other favorite tunes.

Sexy Grandma Vintage Style Wedding

We have never heard a wedding described as “sexy grandma” but that is exactly how Leslie, our next bride, describes her wedding. You can see this in the lace overlay on the dinner tables, the patchwork quilts on top of the hay-bales and even the lace on her dress.

She wanted to create a rustic look and feel without crossing over to “crafty.” Leslie goes on in much more detail about her farm wedding in our full wedding gallery that was captured perfectly by Sweet Tea Photography.

Pinwheel Inspired Wedding

We are back from our much needed hiatus and have a ton of amazing weddings to share with you. We are excited to start the week off with this lakeside wedding captured by Souder Photography.

Overflowing with whimsical touches from event designers Lovebird Style. Including all the colorful paper pinwheels used throughout the wedding and some beautiful floral arrangements. Be sure to visit the entire wedding gallery by clicking here.

There are more than a few special touches to Allison and Stu’s lakeside wedding; one that we especially love is that Allison and her dad made their entrance to the ceremony by boat!

Allison wanted the wedding decor to fit with the natural setting but Lovebird Style wanted to add a whimsical touch. They used birch wood vases, burlap, a family collection of jars and organic flower arrangements designed by Artisan Flowers to dress the tables. They couldn’t stop there so with the help of a few Allison’s friends, they made a bunch of paper pinwheels to stick in the flower arrangements and wood directional signs.

Country Vintage Texas Wedding

Imagine being greeted with a grilled cheese sandwich, a cup of tomato soup and a side of fried pickles when you arrived at a wedding. How tasty does that sound? That’s just one of the many thoughtful touches that went into this country vintage Texas wedding.

The bride shares so much more with us in the full wedding gallery that you must read by clicking here. Captured in true Texas fashion by Natalie Shelton.

The tables were a collaboration with the bride and Bows and Arrows. Every table displayed a different setting of vintage jars, bird cages and chalk boards. This meant a few trips to Canton, Texas, a few good friends, and magical pieces that the bride has now for memories and parties to come. The cake table was set with vintage candies and three cakes with vintage birds atop each…..the guests all loved the cake.

The bride had several trips to Canton, Texas to collect all the vintage bottles that the florist filled with a different array of flowers. Frames were purchashed at Goodwill, and spray painted by friends to suit the theme. Her friends threw her a bachelorette party exclusively to prepare the paper cut outs for tables and all the props for photo booth. This was a huge friends-and-family endeavor that lasted a few months. On each table, guest were greeted with personalized crossword puzzles.

The reception started with Paul McCartney’s “Baby I’m Amazed,” a Tequila shot instead of champagne toast and magical country music through out the night ….. thanks to The Baldwins and Clay Pendergrass. The guest were presented with cactus plants in metals jars with precious notes …. Darcy loves Ashley and love grows. Thanks to the grooms aunt and Ashley’s best friend for helping with the prickly succulents.
Many magical moments were had, and the memories will be forever.

Strawberry Lemonade Wedding Ideas

Strawberries, lemons, and delicious deserts: the perfect recipe for summer! Couture Events used the bright and cheerful colors of pink and yellow to create this bohemian inspired strawberry lemonade wedding. With a few vintage touches and a lot of love, their vision came to life on the cliffs of Point Loma in San Diego, California. To see the entire gallery of the beach event click here. Read on to see how the event came to life .

The always-tempting desert table. Filled with strawberry cupcakes, bite sized lemon meringue pies, and lemon cake pops, all from the incredible Tailored Sweets. The deserts were not only delectable and sweet, but a delight to look at as well! Classic, plush loveseats and chairs were placed around the desert table for guests to kick back, relax, and enjoy their lemonade and delicious deserts in style.

The ceremony site was sprinkled with lemons down the aisle, leading the way to a stunning birch wood arch overlooking breathtaking views of the ocean. A vintage crystal chandelier hung above, complementing the simple, lace wedding gown. Old-fashioned chairs were adorned with a little DIY flair – pink, yellow, and red ribbons tied on the back. Pink peonies were tucked in the ribbons for an added touch of beauty.

For the reception area, they used small, charming details to create an eclectic, summery tabletop. A gorgeous crochet overlay was used over pink linens, with yellow napkins for an extra pop of color. Twine was wrapped around glasses of yellow and pink lemonade. A heart was hung off each glass for guests to write their names. The glasses were decorated with fresh fruit and adorable, red candy striped straws. Shabby–chic lanterns were used as centerpieces to hold charming arrangements of peonies and daisies. The lemonade stand held a beautiful arrangement of both strawberry lemonade and original, paired with classic suitcases for another vintage touch.

Vibrant Yellow and Orange Wedding

We have yet another incredibly talented bride that hand crafted most of all the wedding details by herself. There are so many stand out pieces made by Libby. We must admit that we are in love with the vibrant bridesmaid hair clips. Incredibly cute! To read more about all of Libby and Chris’s Redlands, California wedding click here. All of this prettiness captured by Katelin Wallace Photography.

Another fun element that showcased Libby and Chris’s fun and playful personalities was the ring bearer. Libby surprised Chris with an actual bear, well not a real bear. (: One of his friends dressed head to toe in a bear costume! The groom and crowd were surprised and showed it bouts of laughter!

This is for all of you lovely ladies planning a spring extravaganza. Keep on reading to find out all the juicy details of this succulent wedding from Angel of Events of Love and Splendor. Be sure to see the full wedding gallery overflowing with yellow and gray details.

Sarah and Steve envisioned a fresh and elegant springtime wedding dressed in cheery canary yellow and steely gray. Yellow and Gray New York Wedding

Get ready for some yellow and gray steal worthy ideas from New York event designers, Rock Paper Scissors Events. They really dove in deep and represented the couple as whole. Taking their love for books and travel and turning into a visual masterpiece. Our favorite element of this fabulous New York wedding is the escort card table along with a huge stack of books and a vintage globe. Share with us what you love! Read on find out all the juicy details from Rock Paper Scissors Events.

Be sure to check out the entire wedding gallery by clicking here.

From Event Stylists: Rock Paper Scissors Events

The bride, Marcella, is a teacher and the groom, Cameron, loves to read, so we personalized the decor with a really cute book and travel theme as they are big travelers as well. The couple lives in Brooklyn, and the wedding took place at the LOVELY Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Each table had a stack of vintage books (that served as a favor for each guest to take home), postcards made by the groom (who is an amateur photographer) of cities they have traveled to together with travel tips from the couple, and gorgeous soft yellow flowers. We used airmail envelope as escort cards, and the groom had vintage polaroid cameras that we used to decorate the escort card table along with a huge stack of books and a vintage globe. Each table represented a different city that the couple had traveled to together, and the postcards with the groom’s photography really livened up each table. The books were a great way to add height and visual interest inexpensively as the bride and groom collected the books at used books stores, stoop sales, and from friends over several months. The end result was an extremely personalized, visually dynamic table that did not break the bank!

Michigan Barn Yard Wedding

Alexa and Nathan were married in Troy, MI where her and her family attended church. The cross in the church was hand carved in honor of Alexa’s father who passed away a few years back. After the ceremony, the guests drove about an hour to The Huntsman Hunt Club. Since it was such a far drive, the bride made handmade goodie bags filled with with water and cookies. She stamped it with her own personalized bird stamp. Read on to learn more about this Michigan wedding shoot by Veldman Photo .

Of course, be sure to check out all the barn yard details by clicking here.

The groom, Nathan, is from Montana, but bride, Alexa, was from the Michigan area. She decided to decorate her reception hall as though they were in Montana. They were both really big readers. Their centerpieces were set up with mason jars, country flowers, and a few of their favorite classic books that they enjoyed. They had their place cards as book marks with the guests name and table number included on them. The favors included a DIY goodie bag with trail mix, nuts, and candy in wooden bins.

Their friend made them a sign that said their names and wedding date, along with a hand carved rocker.

We wanted to make sure you did not miss this over the top wedding from Jesi Haack Weddings and Aaron Shintaku. So, we are coming back with a little more from these two power houses. You are going to go gaga over all the handmade wedding details. Kelly and Eric tied the knot in beautiful San Diego Point Loma Nazarene University and held the reception at The Thursday Club. Which happens to be super close to the university.

Jesi Haack Weddings decided to give each guest a hand crafted bow tie (guys) or a hand sewn hair bow (girls) as a favor and seat assignment tag. Jesi said it was amazing to see all of the guests wearing their favors throughout the night! From hand sewn pillows by the mother of the bride to homemade bow tie stir sticks by the bride herself, this was definitely a team effort!

Ohio Handmade Wedding

We love a handmade wedding! Thanks to Chicago wedding photographer, Redwall Photo we have and incredible DIY wedding with a cozy lakefront cottage. Thao, the bride, basically made everything and below she goes into extreme detail on her DIY affair. One of our favorite elements are there cloth booklets, a nod to Thao former job in book design. Enjoy the rest of Thao and Dan’s Ohio wedding.

There are so many incredibly handmade details that you have to see. Check them out by clicking here.

From Thao on her DIY planning adventures.

We knew we wanted two things with our wedding: we wanted to have it in the summer, and we wanted to have it at Dan’s family lakeside cottage. It belonged to his Grandpa Jack and Grandma Bobbie, and has meant so much to the whole family over the years. On our first date, Dan told me that the cottage was his favorite place in the world, and that he hoped he’d have a chance to take me there someday. Three years later, we got married there!

The cottage is relatively small, so it dictated the size of our wedding. Neither of us ever imagined our wedding with a lot of fanfare, just intimate, homespun warmth. We kept the guest list to our immediate family and our best friends. The smaller guest list limited our vendors as well, since we didn’t want to have a lot of strangers milling around during our 36-person wedding. It became something of a DIY affair, but we had so much fun working on the details together.

I was most excited about designing my paper products. Our invitations were cloth booklets (a nod to my former job in book design), with ribbon spines that opened into a pocketfold with all of the invitation suite elements. I learned how to letterpress, and letterpressed our programs, sewing them into booklets with ribbon. We designed and printed our own save-the-dates and thank you notes too. Every paper element was slightly different, but fit into the feel of our cottage wedding.

Our colors were navy, yellow, and grey, which seemed both summery and nautical to me, but we didn’t stick too tightly to that color scheme. The week before the wedding, my bridesmaids and Dan’s groomsman came in to help, and we did all of the decorating ourselves. We made bunting to hang up, welcome signs, table runners, and tissue paper pomanders. We baked lemon shortbread cookies imprinted with our initials to distribute as favors. We also did all of the flowers ourselves, with a lot of help from my bridesmaid’s boyfriend, who happened to have worked in a florist shop. Our parents came to help with the clean-up and tear-down of the cottage. Everyone lent a hand to bring our wedding together, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out.

A shuttle brought guests from the hotel to the cottage, where they were welcomed with an open bar and fans for the summer heat. The ceremony took place on the deck overlooking the lake. My grandfather walked me down the aisle, which meant the world to me. When he was asked who supports the bride in her marriage, he said, “We all do”. After the ceremony, the wedding party hopped onto a boat, where we enjoyed drinks and cocktails. The food was amazing–our guests still talk about it. Then we came back to enjoy the reception. From the toasts, to the first dance, to the afterparty, every element was perfectly suited for us as a couple. We got quality time with every single person at our wedding, which made us feel so blessed. I wouldn’t have changed anything about our wedding.

Carmel Super 8 Wedding

Sitting in a Tree shared with us their incredible Super 8 Wedding Film shot by Austin Hendrix. Read on to here about the wedding details from the bride, Myka. If you would like to see more of this wedding you can head on over to Style Me Pretty to check out the whole wedding

Our wedding day was truly a labor of love. Georges and I had decided early on that we wanted to have a cocktail style wedding, no formal sit-down dinner, just drinks, desserts and lots of dancing. To help create our DIY vision, our families and friends poured their hearts into making sure our day was absolutely perfect. Our amazing moms made desserts, our aunts made appetizers, our uncles played live music during the ceremony, our cousins hung fabric, our siblings created floral arrangements and our best friends ran around town making sure everything was ready for our special day. We found the most amazing location nestled away in Carmel Valley. It created the perfect setting to share our day with all of our friends and family. We were lucky enough to have won a wedding photography contest and the wonderful Melissa Diep Photography flew out all the way from Chicago.

Nashville Chic & Artsy Wedding

Kayla was really looking for a fresh, chic & artsy wedding without breaking the bank. The inspiration first came from the craspedia flower and when she began collecting white milk glass vases and antique silver trays from various second hand shops around Nashville.

She used all Nashville & local vendors for her wedding, including B. Hughes for her dress. Bloom Nashville for all the flowers, arrangements & boutonnieres, Fruition Salon for hair & makeup (where she works) along with lots of other local vendors around town. Almost all the details from the day were hand made, from the cloth pom poms in the sanctuary, rolled napkins, petal curtain at the reception to the wedding invitations (screen printed by hand). The wedding was at she and Kyle’s home church here in Nashville (Church of the Redeemer) and the reception was out back in a tent under the property. Captured with elegance and charm from Nashville Photographer, Austin Gros Photography.

Thanks to Acres of Hope Photography for sharing this intimate homespun wedding with us. Kaitlin, the bride, was so sweet as to share her wedding inspiration with us.

We are both artists and wanted our wedding to be a simple and unique reflection of us. We tried to create an intimate, homespun, vintage feel for the whole event. We wrote our own vows and had a good friend play acoustic guitar before the outdoor ceremony. We designed the wedding with the help of so many wonderful friends and family members. My dear friend Maria made my dress by hand. My friend Sarah baked all of the beautiful vegan desserts. My amazing bridesmaids designed the tables and outdoor decorations. My mom and my friend Chris arranged all of the flowers. One of my bridesmaids, Brittany, designed boutonnieres and bouquet pins for the wedding party using fabric and vintage pendants. One maid-of-honor made yellow earrings for all the girls in the wedding party. My mom made homemade Antique Rose-scented soaps as wedding favors and my grandmother hand-painted birds on mason jars for drinking glasses and favors. The wedding was everything we could have hoped for and our life together continues to surpass all of our expectations.

Crafty Yellow & Teal Long Beach Wedding

A blind date ended up being a match made in heaven for Ingrid and Tim. Soon followed by detailed filled yellow and teal wedding at Rancho Los Cerritos and the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach. Since Ingrid is an art teacher, the wedding was overflowing with clever details.

Ingrid hosted a craft day with her closest women family and friends prior to the wedding. They crafted for 8 hours together making handkerchief programs, toss cones, parasols, tissue poms, terrariums, escort cards and more. If it was not for the help of those crafty ladies, she would not have been able to pull off all the lovely details. If you love Ingrid and Tim’s bride and groom sign you can personalize yours for free by clicking here.

A special thanks to Sweet Monday Photography for sharing this delightful Long Beach Wedding with us.

From Ingrid on her wedding planning process:

We designed our wedding to reflect the unique mix of elements that come together in Long Beach. We wanted to incorporate the historic feel of the Rancho with vintage decorations, and although Long Beach is a large community it feels very small town in many ways. We wanted the wedding to have the personal touches that reflect who we are and our personalities. Below are a few Ingrid’s favorite memories of the wedding!

My brother-in-law played the guitar and sang a song during the ceremony that had special meaning to us
Tim’s father passed away during high school and to include his father in our day was important. Tim’s sister carried his father’s bible and read from it during the ceremony
The yellow dresser belonged to my father’s deceased grandparents; Tim and I repainted it and added new knobs. Tim and I enjoyed the time making crafts together and plan to use the dresser for our future children’s room
Tim and I also had a blast searching antique stores for vintage postcards of locations in Long Beach, and places we have traveled together in California

Down Home Country Wedding

We are so excited to share Michelle and Troy’s Washington country style wedding with you! There are so many special details to this day, and Melissa Tomeoni of Soul Mates Photo was so kind to share with us.

There are so many fun facts about their special day, read onto hear all about them. First, Michelle’s dad artfully created her altar by hand. After the ceremony and the fun began, Michelle toasted her new husband with a shot of Jack. Can you imagine Michelle and her sister speeding around the dance floor to the electric slide? Super cute for sure! I’m not sure which of these elements make my skin tingle and my heart smile but all of them have a dash of country and a whole lot of fun.

The bridesmaids were adorned in cowboy boots, crochet dresses and bouquets complete with wheat. The bride not only boasted her engagement ring but a promise ring made to resemble a horse’s bit. The guys looked ruggedly handsome in their cowboy boots, hats and belt buckles and while drinking from canning jars. Over the top, just how we like it.

Michelle and Troy married at the Wine & Roses Country Estate the perfect setting for a country style wedding. As guests arrived they perched on hay bales and the isle runner was made of canvas. Michelle’s dad drove her to the aisle in his classic pickup and she left in her new husband’s raised truck. A perfect exit for a backyard country wedding.

Disney Pixars Up The Wedding

Before we start, let’s back it up a bit … if you recall, we posted Wildflowers Photography, Pixar’s Up Inspired Engagement Shoot. Take a look by visiting here! Long story short, Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera (writer and producer of the movie UP!) sent Lynnette and James a customized hand drawing based on them and a little note about how much they loved their engagement photos. The photo is below! Pretty amazing…right?

From Joy of Wildflowers Photography on Pixar calling her!

Yay to Wedding Chicks for being so rad and helping guide these photos up to the big head honchos. Such a rad thing that they took interest in the couple and Pixar even called me to say how much they loved the photos.
Joy. To see more photos of the wedding please click here.

From Lynnette the bride on their wedding:

After 8 years of growing in love James and I decided to invite our closest friends and family to celebrate our marriage and everyone in our lives who brought us together. It was as much about our friends and family as it was about us. We were engaged in our favorite vintage photo booth at the Musee Mechanique in San Francisco, so we knew from the beginning that we had to have a photo booth at the wedding and everyone had a great time taking photos in it!

We wanted the wedding to be unique, personal, intimate and beautiful which it turned out to be all of those things! We wanted every aspect to represent “us” from the handmade save the dates and invitations to the picnic blankets and baskets we used in lieu of chairs at the ceremony. We had one of our best friends perform the ceremony which meant so much to us. It was so special saying our own self written vows and “crossing our hearts” to love each other rather than saying “I do”.

On their wedding inspiration:

Lynnette and Jame’s wedding was loosely based on our favorite Pixar movie “UP”! Some fun items that they included was picnic baskets, grape soda, a painted mailbox and a few balloons!

They had help from family and friends along the way to make this incredible day come alive. They made their save the dates and invites with help from their moms. Lynnette and her Mom made the entire dessert bar based on the adorable custom cake topper from lollipopworkshop on Etsy. We love the use of vintage hankies to make an adorable bunting backdrop. Everything came together and looks quite amazing.

If you are not looking to have a DJ you might want to see if you can borrow sound equipment from friends who also helped set up a iPod DJ station!

Yellow, Blue & Red All Over Wedding Details

Jesi Haack is is beyond magnificent! Her wedding design and event planning skills are seriously off the hook. Sara and Michael wanted to do something bright, fun and personal. Read on to see how Jessie’s vision came to life.

Watermelon red. Vibrant blue. Sunshine yellow. The color combo alone is enough to flip me out! So, of course, Carissa from JL Designs and Melody from Sweet and Saucy Shop had to be along for the ride. The amazing girls at Posh Paperie really started the whole concept with their amazing invitation design! They really wanted it to be fun, different, and impacting while still capturing a classy and beautiful environment. This wedding is also a perfect example of how to distract from the sometimes difficult carpets and drapes of certain venues. The white chiavari chairs and white dance floor made the hugest difference to take your eye away from the abrupt colors of the venue!

Posh Paperie , Jesi Haack Weddings , Sweet and Saucy Shop are some of the best Orange County wedding vendors. They are preferred vendors and proud sponsors of The Wedding Chicks.

Old Fashion Huntington Beach Wedding

One time there was this girl and she liked old-fashion things like bingo games a vintage rings. She worked at a job where she met a sweet boy. She liked his laugh and he thought she was pretty. Soon after they fell in love and he bought a ring and she bought a dress. And everyone was so happy for them and they were really happy too and this is their wedding, with love, from one our favorites, Hugh Forte Photography.

Who by the way also deserves a congratulations because he also bought a ring for his girl and soon it will be their wedding. Congratulations Sarah and Hugh… Love The WC

From Katie on Her Wedding

“Our wedding day was better than I could have imagined! We really wanted a fun, easy going wedding, and I think everything from the Grilled BBQ dinner buffet, to the croquet and bocce ball achieved just that. Our coordinator, Rachel, did a fabulous job at making my vision come true! Daniel and I had so much fun shopping for all of the details for our centerpieces, spending early mornings at flea markets, and walking around antique stores until our feet hurt! Everything about the wedding reflected Daniel and me, and I wouldn’t change anything!”

Yup that was cute! As usual great job, Hugh Forte Photography. Who is a proud sponsor and preferred vendor of The Wedding Chicks. To see why he is so super special please see his other super cute wedding below.

budget friendly wedding

The entire bridal party looks incredibly cutting-edge. The bridesmaid’s wore heather gray dresses from Target, over mustard tee’s from forever 21. For that extra pop the girls wore kelly green tights. Also from forever 21.

The groomsman’s outfits were super simple. A basic fresh white dress shirt paired with black slacks. The key to the outfit is the kelly green suspenders purchased from Amazon.

I love all the hues of greens and yellows used in the floral arrangements. Splendid Sentiments and Designs did a stellar job. Especially on the bridal bouquet, filled with billy buttons, yellow tulips and other spring floral delights. This yellow and green bouquet is not only gorgeous but incredibly stylish.
