Travel Theme Wedding At The Smog Shoppe

Jenn and Victor are known for their love of wanderlust. So it seemed only natural that their wedding theme would be “around the world”. They carefully displayed art and objects collected  from various countries and used a map for their seating chart. Be sure to take note of the map it is quite a piece of art itself. They also incorporated Jenn’s Chinese heritage and Vic’s Mexican heritage throughout their cocktail hour, making it truly personal.

Enjoy more of this travel theme wedding at The Smog Shoppe photographed by Sweet Monday Photography in the full gallery.

Each guests was given a paper flower before they sat down for the wedding ceremony. After Jenn and Victor became husband and wife guests were asked to toss the flowers. Such a fun and idea.

For their reception, they had amazing BBQ to pay homage to Victor’s Texas roots as well as their mutual love of the BBQ. We love how they infused both of their heritages into their wedding favors. Saying thank you in both their languages on the favor tags is super cute.

Real Bridal Flower Accessories

We are head over heels with this next wedding idea. Using Real flowers in lieu of a traditional bouquet, or in addition to a bouquet. Ranging from bracelets, headbands, necklaces, belts even your wedding garter. Of course you must use hearty flowers that would not wilt quickly and would retain their shape & suppleness throughout a wedding day.

Melissa Schollaert Photography and Birch Blooms were inspired by all of the dresses featured at 2012 Spring Bridal Collection. Many gowns included flowers or natural floral motifs created out of fabric, ribbon and other accoutrements. Many of these flower details were found not only on the gowns, but also worn as headbands or in other accessories. Such a brilliant idea. See more real bridal flower accessories in the full wedding gallery.

Vizcaya Museum And Gardens Bridal Session

Michelle March Photography

This dreamy, feminine shoot all started with the stunning couture headpiece from the amazing Jannie Baltzer, whom we all adore.

Michelle March Photography loosely based this bridal session on the Greek mythology of Narcissus, who was renowned for his beauty and exceptionally proud. Narcissus disdained those who loved him. Nemesis saw this and attracted Narcissus to a reflection in a pool where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love, not realizing it was merely an image of himself.

This gorgeous shoot took place in one of the most romantic places in the world, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, located in Miami-Dade County. See so many more dreamy photos in the full wedding gallery.

Nothing says courthouse chic like Chanel and a bird cage veil by Maria Elena with a pair of good old fashion Jimmy Choo peep toe pumps. Wouldn’t you agree? Chicago Farm Wedding

Welcome to Weekend Wedding where we make sure you get your all the inspiration you need to make it through the weekend. Today we have Tom and Alexa’s Chicago Farm Wedding.

The couple was married at Alexa’s family farm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago where not only her parents were married, but her two sisters as well. The farm is full of the family’s precious antiques and heirlooms, and nostalgia lingers in the air. They chose the 39th anniversary of Alexa’s parents, June 26th to wed. They tied the knot in the same small church as her parents and sisters before riding in her grandmother’s Rolls Royce to the family farm. Cocktail hour was enjoyed surrounding the pool and later guests moved into the tent to dance the night away to an 8 piece orchestra. A special thanks to KT MERRY for sharing this with us.

Quebec Wedding With Casual Charm

How are the wedding plans going? Hopefully your feet are up and you are sipping on a latte getting your weekend wedding inspiration on. Here is a little number from Canadian wedding photographer, Jennifer Ballard Photography.

Molly and Mike’s wedding was in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The ceremony was in Rockcliffe Park in Ottawa. They had bells on each chair for guests to ring instead of throwing rice or blowing bubbles. This was a huge hit and the wedding officiant had the crowd ring their bells at certain parts of the ceremony.

The reception was at a cute little restaurant called Le Hibou (The Owl) in Wakefield, Quebec about 30 minutes away.  Their wedding was the first wedding reception to be held at Le Hibou. It is such a gorgeous location right on the Gatineau River. Molly used fun shadow puppets she got on Etsy as part of the table decor.

There are ton of more fun details that you can check out here.

Old Hollywood Glamorous Wedding

Aaron Shintaku shared with us this old Hollywood inspired wedding. Drawing inspiration from movies like Aviator and Pearl Harbor this vintage themed wedding truly was a masterpiece.

Andrea and David had this classy affair at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. An exceptionally perfect venue for a vintage themed wedding. It has been the premier choice for celebrities, presidents and dignitaries for over 85 years. The entire wedding from start to finish had a classic feel. As a wedding gift David gave Andrea an exquisite pearl necklace from Chanel. It really does not get more classic than that!

Romantic Santa Barbara Beach Wedding

One of our favorite event planners, Jill of La Fleur Weddings shared with us this elegant beach wedding. How about the amazing floral designs by Mindy Rice - stunning.

It was a clean, chic, simply elegant wedding that played up the natural wood and white elements of Bacara’s architecture while adding chic beach coral, mercury glass, lots of candle light and sheer fabric-draped twinkle lights overhead. It was so romantic. The candy bar was all in white to keep with the clean design and the cake was amazing-as they always are at Bacara! The Rotunda was turned into a cozy Zen lounge complete with white sofas, dance floor, bar and of course a Buddha.

The Parker Palm Springs

We hope that everyone is having a beautiful spring day!

Thanks for sticking around to see the follow up on Diana and Andy’s modern reception at the ohh so stylish Parker in Palm Springs, California.

You can see their surprise courthouse wedding here. All of this wedding goodness was brought to us by the ever so talented Laguna Beach wedding photographer Barber Photography!

Read on to see how this Orange County couple made this jazzy day possible.

All from Diana the bride.

The majority of the guests thought they were attending a very intimate party celebrating our relationship, the other half thought we were going to do a secret commitment ceremony.

Overall, they knew it was going to be party, but to what extent they had no idea. (Andy was very adamant about not getting married so people were thrown off….But knew we would do something in celebration of us and our family). The two flanked flat screens playing our slide-show surprised all! Which shared the surprise of the court house ceremony in the form of a slide show.

I took a more glamorous, old Hollywood look for the Palm Springs wedding reception based on my surroundings at the Parker in Palm Springs and the fun nature of our party. Two different days = Two different looks.
Our reception party food ranged from mini ahi-tuna tartar tacos as passed hor d’ouvres to mini-cheesecake, Doughnut holes and churros for dessert. The Parker did it all!

Devynns Garden created these stylish welcome/take home gifts-mini succulent potted plants with black rocks. The ribbon that is tied around the pots is the same ribbon that was used in the bouquet for the courthouse wedding. Love that!

Orange County Courthouse Wedding

Before you start peeking at our next real wedding, note that there will be more of this modern goodness. Thanks to Laguna Beach Wedding Photographer, Barber Photography.

We will begin with the secret courthouse wedding of Diana and Andy who both love surprises. Read on to hear the entire story. Which in fact is quite a nice read that I am sure you will enjoy. Diana and Andy are both in the digital world as well. Andy owns his own online marketing company, ADISN and Diana has an amazing blog called tbwap.

From Diana, the bride.

We love surprises, that is why we did this event the way we did, it all worked out once we realized The Parker was available the weekend of Thanksgiving, since we met 5 years ago that same holiday weekend. We planned our 2-day day event/surprise one night in June over a beer and a glass of wine. We picked out colors, ideas, looks and began reaching out to vendors we knew and liked from past experience.

Day One- Secret courthouse wedding at the Historic Santa Ana court house. We were married on our 5 year anniversary date; Tuesday November 24th.

My bouquet was designed by Devynns Garden which is in Huntington Harbor. I took a huge risk asking for fuchsia peonies this time of the year, since it is very rare for them to be in bloom. I had ordered the black and white striped ribbon to keep it modern and fun and would tie in with our whole look.

Our son was a big part of both events. Oliver Henry, at the time just turned 2, was a huge part of our day. We wanted him to be involved with the documenting of our day at the courthouse, since it was intimate and special to our little family.

We wanted to keep him looking cool and casual, very California and our style so we dressed him in a Stella McCartney for Baby Gap skinny jeans and tuxedo blazer, a Jacadi collared shirt with Vans checker slip-ons to match dad’s shoes.

My dress is by Priscilla of Boston the Platinum line and my shoes are Louis Vuitton. I had removed the beaded belt and had a custom black tiered tie belt created to get more of a Alice in Wonderland meets Audrey Hepburn feel. I did two very different looks for my 2-day event. My wedding day, I stuck with an au natural bridal look, very clean. Stay tuned for the reception look and feel.

Andy’s suit is a Hugo Boss with euro cut and the tie is by Jon Varvatos

New York Wedding At The Mandarin Oriental

christian louboutin silver shoes

Who is ready for a classic NYC wedding?

Jen Huang Photography was so sweet to share this gem of a wedding with us. Laura and Jordyn, who were married at PerSe at the Time Warner Center at Columbus circle. What a venue to have a wedding.

PerSe looks simply amazing. For events of 8 guests or more, they offer two private dining rooms. A dedicated event team, which will be on hand from the beginning of the planning until the time your guests depart. To top it off they even offer a selection of carefully chosen parting gifts for your guests. Such as, an assortment of  Macarons. I am ready to dine at PerSe.

The stunning flowers were by Saipua who always does a stellar job. Simple and elegant bud vases scattered throughout the event. I have always been kinda in love with Saipua, along with all the other wedding blogs.

Well our next wedding that Marianne Taylor Photography shared with us definitely reminds me of something right out of one of her novels. I also want to make a special mention that Marianne Taylor Photography is one of our international UK vendors. Marianne Taylor also shared with us an this amazing wedding that took St. Marks Church that we fully think you should check out by clicking here.

Katie and Sam got married at Hassop Hall in Derbyshire, England. It was a very cold December day right after Christmas. Despite all the traveling, and the rather miserable weather, this wedding turned out to be absolutely amazing. Hassop Hall is a gorgeous venue, I highly recommend going to the web site and checking out the venue. The pictures of the estate look amazing.

NY Vintage Winter Wedding By Jessica Leigh Morrisy Photography

vintage getaway car

Jessica Leigh Morrisy Photography shared with us Sarah and John’s vintage inspired winter wonderland. The two love birds were married in Nyack Seaport in Nyack, NY right on the Hudson River overlooking the Tapanzee bridge

On the big day the snow was about to come down, luckily the snow didn’t arrive till the ceremony started. Jessica was able to get some wintery, vintage shots in front of the fabulous 1930′s antique car. The couple looked amazing, loving Sarah’s shrug and her Manolo Blahnik’s.

Jessica obviously made doe and made sure they still had a picture perfect day. If you want to read more about Sarah and John’s wedding and other details you can visit her blog by clicking here. Sarah had a bunch of goodies made over at Etsy that I am sure you would love to hear about.

Caribbean Destination Beach Wedding

beach bride

Kelly Cummings of Spindle Photography was so kind to share her Dominican Republic Destination Wedding with us. Erica, the bride works in a floral shop and did all of her flowers from home before the trip. Wanting to keep everything very simple, Erica went with a white color scheme for the beach ceremony. The bridesmaid in white dresses and groomsmen in white jackets. Erica and Yorgos, her husband, dressed in champagne and camel ensembles.

All of her guests (just under 40) spent a week at the all inclusive resort in Punta Cana. It looks like they put on a breath taking spread over in the Caribbean. They feature a number of elegant settings for an unforgettable ceremony. And the crystal blue Caribbean waters serve as a breathtaking backdrop to a reception right on one of their beautiful beaches.

How magical does that sound?

A Vintage Chicago Wedding From Mark Romine Photography

Chicago wedding venue

Nothing says gorgeous like a bird cage veil. Well… at least that is my opinion. Mark Romine Photography did an ultra fabulous job of capturing the old fashion look and feel that Sara and Ben wanted to capture. There are so many additional lovely photos that I know you will want to see. You can see them by visiting here.

I also wanted to mention that Sara also wrote her own blog post on Mark’s site, sharing all of her inspiration and inside details. If you are planning a Chicago wedding, she has some great finds.

The girls wore black Jackie O. shift dresses and small birdcage veils to match. Ben, the groom was in a cut-away tux and Sara in a very old-fashioned, yet somewhat modern, lace and taffeta gown. The best part was her hat and veil, which she fell in love with at the bridal salon at first glance! She has some great things to say about Dimitra’s Bridal in Chicago over on her post.

An Old Fashion Vegas Wedding Ideas.

Vegas Wedding Ideas

Chelsea Nicole Photography sent us some great Vegas Wedding Ideas along with some beautiful photos. This throwback to the 1950′s was held at the Red Rock Casino in Vegas. Love the Vegas.

Vegas Showgirls greeted the guests at the entrance of the reception during cocktail hour
Frank Sinatra impersonator
Mini root beer floats were served with the wedding cake
Center pieces: each table had a different framed image that paid tribute to the casinos of Vegas past.
Wedding attire: the guys wore classic white jackets and slim black bow ties inspired from Mad Men’s Don Draper. Bridesmaid dresses

vintage wedding ring

From The Bride on her wedding:

Our wedding day is inspired by the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas in the late 1950s and early 1960s, a time when Mr. and Mrs. America came to Hollywood’s playground and rubbed elbows at the roulette table next to Marilyn Monroe, Ann Margret, and a young Senator named Kennedy. Showrooms up and down the strip booked headliners like Frank and the boys, Liberace, Don Rickles, and Wayne Newton. It was a time when a man could get a shrimp cocktail or a juicy prime rib for a buck or two.

We love this special and more innocent era when space age optimists looked towards the sky to see the future, Lincoln Continentals cruised the Strip at 7 MPG, men were men, and it was ok for a fella to go crazy in the head over some broad. Bill would never dare call Amber a “broad,” but he loves her with the same spirit.

Shabby Chic Wedding By Cristy Cross Photography

Homemade Wedding

Cristy Cross sent over this shabby chic wedding and I was instantly in love with all the handmade details Do you love the shoes above? I do, to be honest I saw that image before on Cristy’s site and was like ooh la la. I have a thing for shoes with wooden heels. The heels have to be wooden, none of the fake stuff and the feathers, do not even get me started on how cute that looks. Well… on with the wedding.

Carrie and Barrett made just about everything or got it on etsy, which was also handmade. Check out the ceremony site, old wooden beams, a vintage piano and dancing vines twirling around the alter. It does not get better than this.

Bridal Shoot Ideas From SNS Photography

bridal shoot ideas

Shannon Smith of SNS Photography sent us this unique bridal shoot. In typical tradition a bridal shoot takes place a few months before the ceremony, hair makeup the whole nine yards. Megan, the bride, has this gorgeous classic beauty that really translates in photographs. Shannon and Megan traveled to a few locations, survived the Florida heat, and got a bunch of classic bridal shots as well as some new and innovative takes on a bridal session.

Megan wanted the pictures to be vintage inspired, so most of them were textured to add a sense of nostalgia and give the images character. These are super cute, thanks so much Shannon for sharing these with us.

Old Fashion Wedding Ideas By Christine Olson Photography

old fashion wedding ideas

Lets start your Monday off with some old fashion Love from Christine Olson Photography and the wedding of April and Daren. Married in Alpine, Utah at the Mount Timpanogos Temple in early August.

April wanted to share with all of you that this wedding was on an incredible budget. So much so that she is pretty sure she could write a book on how to make your wedding inexpensive yet tasteful. Read on, for April shared with us where she found pretty much everything.

Let us start off April’s custom dress, which was designed by April and created by her cousin, Brooke Hardy 951.677.8776. The fabric was bought at the L.A fashion district. The dainty Broach on April’s dress was  found in an old button jar and ta-daa you have got a vintage broach.

old fashion wedding ideas

On to the cuff links, which are Personalized Typewriter Key Cuff links. Pick Your Own Keys! An, “A” for April and, A, “D” for Daren! Love it! They are made from pieces of wood that look like vintage typewriter keys. Pick your own keys including letters, numbers, and so on for $9.95. What a great price, of course over at Etsy.

April’s floral headpiece was purchased over at www.beautifullymodest.com. The Jewelry was purchased over at Lia Sophia Fashion Jewelry. April did her own makeup and the her hair was done by her sister.

old fashion wedding ideas

April’s backseam tights where purchased at Nordstrom. The checkered shoes are from Forever Young Shoes and April’s formal shoes and all of her bridesmaid shoes are from Payless.

polaroid wedding

The flowers are from Flower Patch and the bouquets were made by friend, Megan Seawright of The Flower Girl.

old fashion wedding ideas

1939 Model A has been in April’s family since the 1950′s and naturally April and Daren wanted it to be their get away car. Daren had a short lesson on how to drive it and off they went. The car went along with thier whole Old Fashion look and feel quite perfectly, don’t you think.

old fashion wedding ideas

unique groomsman attire

I adore the Groomsman Outfits, the pants where bought over at Express. The cute Vests Forever 21, mens seciton the shoes Converse and the Ties Tie-One-On.

wedding cupcakes

All of the adorable cupcackes are from Puffs of Sugar in Utah. The linens were bought in the LA Fabric District.

cupcake stand

Another great idea is the wedding ice cream bar with actual old fashion ice cream scoopers serviing you up. Perfect for warm August afternoon. April and Daren had BUY Creamery come out and serve their guests vanilla ice cream with all the fixinings. Hot fudge, caramel, peach, strawberry, pineapple, whipped cream, maraschino cherry, and nuts. Sounds perfect to me. $2.65 per a person.

They also served cool and refreshing Lemonade and flavor shots.

icecream_bar

wedding ice cream bar

The story beind all the utterly adorable polaroids. Well… April is a photographer and fell in love with polaroid when she was a young girl. Daren and April have taken most of their pictures together with instant polaroid film.

They where so so depressed that Polaroid is no longer making the film anymore. So naturally they wanted their whole wedding done with polaroid but it was not that logical. So they compremised and did half and half. I personally think it turned out stunning. Thank you so much Christine for sharing this utterly adorable wedding.

Eco Friendly Wedding Ideas by JL Designs

eco friendly wedding ideas

I came across this on JL Designs and just wanted to share with you if you had not seen this already. The theme for the shoot was “eco-chic”…designing in a sustainable way that is easy on the wallet and easy on the environment without sacrificing style. It was for the second issue of the online magazine, utterly engaged! If you have not checked that out you so should. Stephanie Williams Photography is the genius behind the camera. Sweet and Saucy is responsible for the tasty treats. JL Designs has so many incrdible tips on making a stylish eco friendly yet affordable day possible… read on.

eco friendly wedding ideas

For the table scape, they collected vintage vases and milk glass at local thrift stores to be sustainable (and budget-friendly), trying to re-use as much as possible they where then filled them with varying shades of yellow ranunculas, lisianthus, tulips and astilbe…buying flowers as local and domestic as possible helps lessen the gas and emissions used in transporting the flowers from where they are grown…also, by arranging flowers in vases with only water, it reduces the need for floral foam, which is not bio-degradable and takes forever to break down in landfills. That is good to know. I for one did not know that.

eco friendly wedding ideas

The tablescape and bouquets featured local, organic flowers and everlasting flowers carved from balsa wood.

yellow and green wedding ideas

Melody from Sweet and Saucy created this beautiful cake with a homespun feel…going with a butter cream frosting is always less expensive than fondant.By incorporating the cake, desserts and sparkling lemonade bottles into the actual table scape, it lessens the amount of floral needed, saving on costs (and waste)!

eco friendly wedding ideas

eco friendly wedding ideas

The bistro chairs, china and napkins where rented.  JL Designs decided to go a different route with the linens, they popped into a salvation army and found some great ivory sheets for $1.00 each! One even had an adorable eyelet lace border.

JL Designs had an amazing idea to drape all of your tables in vintage floral sheets, making each tablescape slightly different from the next but still keeping with an overall consistent color scheme and feel? JL Designs would LOVE for one of their brides to allow them to do this for her wedding… hint hint. Who ever does this is one smart cookie.

ecofriendly wedding invitations

Printing your invites and stationary on recycled paper earns major brownie points for being “green, ” according to JL Designs. Dlsh Design is responsible for these lovely eco friendly invitations.

Their reception was held at the beautiful ballroom at the Orlando Marriott Hotel. Thanks La Dolce Vita for sharing.

Krissy Davis and the Marvimon

Krissy Davis sent us this great wedding held at the Marvimon. The Bride, Sara’s dress was by the talented Nicole Miller. How awesome does Sara look in that Dress? The makeup was done by Blushing Bridal Makeup.
Sara’s hair was done by Tiffany from the C salon. Baby Blues BBQ catered the event. Yummy!

Krissy also sent us the lovely tale how the bride and groom meet, written by Sara the bride. Click on to read more. It is always fun to read how couples feel and love and tied the knot.

Paul and Sara are the nicest, happy, humble, loving people. They wanted a no fuss wedding to share with their closest friends and family. They met while working on the show Homeland Security, USA. I’m
so happy they asked me to photograph their wedding. It was beautiful and so are they. Believe it or not, Sara claims she doesn’t like having her picture taken! I’m not a great writer so I’ll just let you read a little of what Sara had to say about their story:

Paul and I have worked on about 5-6 shows together over the last 6 years, but never worked directly together (he was an editor and now produces, I’m on the writing/story producing side). We have a lot of
the same credits on our resume, but never actually knew each other. We figured out that at one point about 6 years ago, his office was directly across from mine, but we never talked. In Feb of 2008 I was hired to Story Produce a show he was supervising, Homeland Security USA, and although I remembered him from past shows, he didn’t remember me. We became fast friends working on the show, and our mutual long-time off-and-on boss and close friend (Academy Award winning producer Arnold Shapiro, who was the proudest person at the wedding) kept telling me he thought we’d make a great couple, but I ignored him. At some point Paul and I discovered we lived only a block apart from each other in Beachwood Canyon, so decided to meet up for breakfast one Sunday, just as pals. Breakfast lasted for four hours, which led to a movie, which then led to three hours of talking and laughing in the car, which led to quickly moving in together. We got engaged in Paris 4 months after we started dating and were married one year almost to the day after we “met” each other for real.”

“I guess what was most important to us on that day was that we stayed true to ourselves, even if that meant forgoing tradition. I didn’t want a wedding at first, but once Paul convinced me that we could make the day as unique as we wanted it to be, I started to love the idea. I have never, ever wanted a poofy dress and a bunch of attention. I just wanted to marry Paul. But he reminded me that we could make the day whatever we want. We got a ukelele player and his wife to sing the song that Steve Martin and Burnadette Peters sing in The Jerk, because I love that movie and I knew if I heard that song as I walked down the aisle, I would giggle to myself, instead of feeling nervous or stiff. (And that trumpet player was a complete surprise to me! It was my single favorite moment maybe ever… If I could do my vows over again, I would say that I was marrying Paul not only because he allowed me to walk down the aisle to a song from The Jerk, but he goes and secretly hires a trumpet player to do my favorite part… THAT is the man for me.) And it was important to us that things not be too rehearsed or stiff. Neither of us wanted to feel like we were playing the part of Bride and Groom, we just wanted to be ourselves as we got married, surrounded by our favorite people. We chose things that would make people loosen up and enjoy themselves (banjo, BBQ, wedding movies playing on the screen, casual surroundings). It was so, so important to me that on that day I could wake up and think about how lucky I was to be marrying Paul, and NOT have my thoughts be about my hair or the decorations or dumb stuff like that. And we succeeded in doing that.

He and I are a goofy pair and a perfect fit. I found someone who wants to have adventures with me, and we crack each other up along the way. It’s awesome.”

Michelle Hayes Simple New York Wedding

Meet Michelle Hayes!

My name is Michelle Hayes and I’m a wedding/portrait photographer who would love to share my recent wedding of Bernadette and Michael. What makes this wedding unique and worth showcasing is how Bernadette managed to have her NY wedding at a fairly low cost. During these economic times it would be great to show how one does not need to get caught up in spending a fortune and still a fantastic wedding.

The reception was held at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City which offers a huge amount of space at a fraction of the cost of most NY venues. This place is a architectural gem inside and a cool place to shoot from a photography stand point.

Bernadette found her Calvin Klein dress on sale at a discount retailer, even though it was still listed at full retail price online at a major department store, and wore a unique head piece from Fascinators in New York instead of a traditional veil. Her look was very chic and you would never know her whole ensemble cost less than $300.You can see more of Michelle’s fantastic work here.
