Casa Romantica in San Clemente was the backdrop for Clarissa and Dodger’s Spanish style wedding. It’s surrounded with beautiful reds, oranges, greens and blues that come from the gardens and Spanish tiles, and of course the ocean.

The bride tied Casa Romantica in with all the wedding details, which included using a design from a spanish tile at Casa Romantica for invitations, menus, and the wedding cake. Vibrant Carnival Themed Wedding Ideas

County fair ribbons as table numbers and homemade heart-shaped suckers were only a few of the handmade details from Thomas and Jaelithe’s  carnival inspired wedding. This colorful explosion of love was based around all things that the couple loved most about each other.

Jaelithe said that being in love with her husband is like being at a carnival, although he doesn’t readily supply cotton candy as much as she would like. Pure cuteness. Jaelithe designed the invitations (about 8 times), the save the dates, and every sign and note at the wedding. Black Aves Dinnerwear By David Pressman Events

An Associate Member of the Royal Academy of Needlework, Sybil Francis was one of the first needlewomen in England. In the 1930’s, she embroidered a pillow that was translated into a copper print engraving and the first Aves dinnerware was produced. Black Aves with Gold was created at Gump’s request and launched as an exclusive for the store in 1987. A monochrome design with 22kt gold edges, the pattern represents the birds of paradise and was originally inspired by silk embroidery.

David Pressman Events designed an entire table around this iconic dinner wear. Complete with fancy lettering by Soolip and one stunning floral centerpiece by Krista Jon. To see the entire shoot by Aaron Delesie be sure to click here.

Homemade South African Wedding By Jacki Bruniquel

Bo is a Californian girl who fell in love with a South African boy and got married at the most beautiful gorge on the South Coast of Natal.

Against all advice, Bo went with a red and purple theme and spent many hours on all the details. She had a very clear vision of what she wanted and actually made most the pretty details in this wedding herself (roping in family and friends of course).

When she couldn’t find red polka dot fabric for the little girl’s dresses, she just made them herself! This lovely Homemade South African Wedding is captured by Jacki Bruniquel Photography.

Tennessee Red Wedding Ideas

Alexis and Jason really wanted to have a wedding that reflected their casual, fun-loving personalities. With only four months of planning months, they quickly decided that their dream wedding would include tacos, a pinata, a paper airplane exit, lots of warm colors, and a whole lot of fun. Alexis begin her DIY adventure , to read more on her planning process see below.

Bauman Photographers flew out from San Diego to capture this Tennessee wedding. To see the entire the wedding click here.

From The Bride On her planning process

From the minute we were engaged Jason and I knew that we really wanted our wedding to reflect our casual, fun-loving personalities. With Jason being from the West Coast and myself growing up in the South, we also definitely wanted our wedding to have a taste of both places. Somehow this California-Tennessee combination inspired what we called our vintage Mexican fiesta wedding! We both are creative people (Jason is a photographer and I’m a graphic designer) so we immediately had tons of ideas for making our wedding unique, memorable and totally US. With only 4 months to plan we quickly decided that our dream wedding would include tacos, a pinata, a paper airplane exit, lots of warm colors, and a whole lot of fun. After searching high and low for a rustic barn to no avail, we found Traveler’s Rest, a beautiful historic plantation with an updated barn on the grounds. Perfect!

It didn’t take long for our vintage Mexican fiesta theme to take place. So many parts of this wedding were DIY. We even took across the border to find decorations and inspiration! I quickly went to work designing the save-the-date postcards and then the invitations–both inspired by Mexican folk art. We wanted everything about the ceremony and reception to feel comfortable and fun, and we especially wanted to create a lot of personal touches. Using red and yellow as our main colors, we went to work making flower balls out of fabric, triangle flags strung together on twine, a cupcake stand covered in a yellow vintage-inspired paper and handwritten signs to hang on the bride and groom chairs. I found a beautiful old table cloth to drape over our outdoor picnic table and filled mason jars with red and yellow ranunculuses and lots of green stems to keep everything looking like they were picked fresh from the garden.

And then the real fun began! We held the ceremony on the plantation grounds under an old magnolia tree. Our bridesmaids wore red dresses they each picked out on their own, and the groomsmen looked sharp in their black suits and red ties. The reception was held at the barn with red, buttercup and ivory lanterns glowing over head. Our beautiful and delicious Mexican chocolate and coconut cupcakes were made from scratch by my sister-in-law and the taco bar was catered by a burrito shop, the local favorite for its fruit tea and pineapple salsa. The best part of it all was watching everyone come together and have a great time. The corner photo booth was constantly crammed full of guests making silly faces while wearing goofy hats and crazy oversized sunglasses. We danced. We laughed. We drank margaritas. In the end it really couldn’t have been any more uniquely us.

Americana Wedding Ideas

If Cherries and the color red does not represent love, then we really don’t know what does. Salt Harbor Designs really outdid themselves when they combined their love for cherries and color red in this inspirational shoot. Salt Harbor Designs aimed to capture the essence of old-fashioned summertime Americana, so they incorporated a bluegrass band, straw hats, wagon, and rustic elements. We love every minute of this! Photographed by the lovely Millie Holloman Photography. Both exceptional North Carolina wedding vendors.

A steal worthy idea from Salt Harbor Designs that we love – having a Wedding Pasta Bar! Especially great for backyard or farmhouse weddings. Ask your close friends and family to bring there favorite pasta dish to the reception and serve up some fresh baked bread. That sounds super yummy!

Australia Never Looked So Pretty

We love when real brides send us their weddings! Especially when they are as pretty as can be. Audrey has been following us since she starting her planning process and shares with us that we were the greatest source of wedding inspiration while planning her wedding. We love that, because that is what it really is all about.

Most of Audrey and Ben’s guests traveled from Singapore to Perth for a little down under wedding celebration. The entire wedding was captured by Singapore wedding photographer, Nathan Wu. Enjoy this soft and romantic masterpiece.

First off, Audrey’s bridesmaids look ravishing in their non-traditional bridesmaid dresses. The soft red floral print on this playful number accents Audrey’s Vera Wang wedding gown flawlessly.

How adorable are these parasols? They definitely have a romantic vintage feel to them. Not only are these white beauties meant to provide a bit of shade for your maids, but they also can be used as a wonderful prop for a picture perfect photo.

They go for around $20 a piece to rent. You can find a similar parasol over at Bella Umbrella by clicking here.

After their wedding in Perth, they  flew over to Sydney to unwind a little, and took some shots. Check them out here.

Simple Outdoor Wedding Ideas

Our next wedding was shared with us by Carden’s Photography. The day looked so fun and unique that we had to share this unique twist on a wedding.

Set at Cook Forest State Park in Pennsylvania, the day began with a canoe ride, followed by some diy pb and jelly sanwiches and fresh fruit.

The dinner reception was located right next to the ceremony site in the park!  It was decorated 100% diy.  For wedding favors the guest received apples and flower seed packets. The flowers in the mason jars were picked at the park and arranged that day. Every guest had a role in helping prepare for the wedding. Flowers were handmade on site, as well all the decor and most of the food.

San Diego By Carter & Cook Event Co.

I am super excited to share with you a darling wedding that Carter & Cook Event Co. shared with us. It is a total show stopper. Filled to the brim with charming details, just how you like it. Read on because Carter & Cook Event Co. spills the beans on all the juicy details.

The wedding theme was Up, up, up and Away! Their engagement pictures were taken with lots of heart balloons, and they wanted to carry this theme into their wedding. See the Engagement Session Here.

Liz and Rich were married at the The Darlington House in La Jolla, California. I have passed by it personally many times and can vouch that it is an adorable place to get married. On that note if you are throwing around destination wedding ideas, La Jolla is one to add to the list of possibilities. Delightful beach town, full of activities for out of town guests. Not to mention there are a ton unbelievable wedding vendors right at your fingertips.

Speaking of unbelievable wedding vendors, he and she photography are the masterminds behind the lens of Liz and Rich’s wedding.

Liz and Rich are quite the creative duo. Liz came up with so many of the ideas, and the adorable groom got to creating!

They handmade dozens and dozens of fabric pendants to hang throughout the grounds of the The Darlington House. Rich and Liz also created a beautiful ribbon back drop for the ceremony. Imagine guests having to walk through a wall of ribbons to get their seats. Such a clever idea!

Another great idea that I think you might like was that each bridesmaid carried her own balloon down the aisle for the ceremony. Such a cute touch, and a creative way to save money on bouquets! The bridesmaid dresses were perfect for the color scheme for the day. Dresses can be found at Anthropologie.

Each guest’s seat had a cone filled with dozens of colorful and homemade pom-poms to throw as the two newlyweds ran down the aisle.

The tables had a colorful, eclectic mix of vases and wildflowers to fit the playful wedding mood. Modern Bouquet did a fabulous job on those, and Liz’s bouquet. Such bright and cheery colors!

A colorful candy bar was filled with fun sweets and cotton candy. Another table was full of red velvet cupcakes, the father of the bride’s homemade chocolate chip cookies, and hot air balloon shaped sugar cookies. Their guests enjoyed the variety and ability to pick and choose favorites.

Running with the Up, up, up and Away theme Liz and Rich also wanted to have a pinata at the wedding, so the groom, Rich, handmade a colorful paper mache hot air balloon pinata for reception. It was so much fun to watch the two of them give it a whirl. The pinata broke and was filled with dozens of tooth brushes and tooth paste in honor of the brides grandfather “Doc”. They also felt it appropriate as they severed many sweets during the afternoon reception.

Despite the rain forecast, the weather held off perfectly. The guests lined the streets and waved the handmade ribbon wands, as the two newlyweds ran off to their getaway car, it began to pour. Talk about perfect timing!

A Wedding At The London Hotel In Hollywood

The London Hotel In Hollywood

Do remember awhile back when post that spectacular wedding that Paul Von Rieter shared with us? Well Paul is back and he has yet another hot one for you!

Christie and Joe Marchese were married in the typical Hollywood fashion at the London Hotel in Hollywood. They used the same coordinator that did Eddie Murphy’s latest wedding, Brent Miller. Brent is apparently the right hand man to Colin Cowie. Ohh and did I mention that the dinner was catered by Gordon Ramsey. Yep, it was a super delicious event!

Joe is the president of Socialvibe.com, which is an incredibly awesome web site. It is this amazing company that basically gets advertisers to give most of their advertising money to charity, by enabling people to choose what products they wish to support. It is a really cool thing. Go and visit by clicking here.

Eco Friendly Barn Yard Wedding By Carla Ten Eyck Photography

Shabby Chic Wedding Ideas

One of our amazing Connecticut preferred wedding photographers, Carla Ten Eyck Photography sent us this Midwestern wedding filled with some good old fashion Kansas Fun. Carter and Jaime’s wedding ceremony was a nice mix of Jewish and Christian traditions. Many of their friends had never heard Hebrew prayers or seen the breaking of the glass. They loved it!

The wedding took place in Belle Plain Kansas at the The Bartlett Arboretum. Which happens to be operated by one of the original members of the Dixie Chicks! Read on to here how Robin Macy introduced this pair of love birds.

Barn Yard Wedding Ideas

barn yard wedding

Robin Macy, is the person who introduced Jaime to Carter. She is a member of the original Dixie Chicks and met Carter when she began recording her latest album “Songs from the Garden” at his recording studio, Greenjeans Studios in Wellington, Kansas. She knew quickly that he would be a good fit for Jaime and asked him, “Honey, do you have a sweetheart? Your energy is a lot like my friend Jaime’s and I think you two should meet.”

Love that story! You never know how you are going to meet the love of your life.

Eco Friendly Wedding

Carter wrote and composed the processional that was played by a brass quintet. Jaime knew he was doing it, but  didn’t hear it until the day she walked down the aisle. He also sang and recorded the song played during their first dance. It was his version of Randy Newman’s “Feels Like Home.”

barn yard wedding ideas

Jaime and Carter love the Fun Barn for its rather unique charm but it’s also special because it was the very first venue their Cajun and Zydeco band, “The Mudbugs” played in February 2008. The band also performed at their wedding reception with Jaime on the drums (in her wedding dress) and Carter playing fiddle and signing lead vocals.

Jessica Claire’s Bridal Shower

red and turquoise wedding ideas

Chenin from Boutwell Studios shared with us this little number she put on for Jessica Claire’s Bridal shower, I am pretty sure that Chenin also missed her calling as a event decorator as well. Everything blended seamlessly. Two of Jessica’s bridesmaid’s Chenin and Candice pretty much crafted everything on their own.

The shower had a bit of a happy housewife theme with a sarcastic/kitchy twist. Jessica loves homemade cupcakes, so they had a decorate-your-own cupcake bar.  After everyone decorated their cupcakes, Jessica chose her favorite and the winner received a prize! Love that idea, such a fun activity for all the bridesmaids.

Black White & Red Wedding

A sexy palette of blood red, graphite and black. The celebrity wedding of Billy Martin and Linzi Williamson is a perfect example of this striking combination. The wedding was coordinated by R. Jack Balthazar. Using inspiration inspired by all that is dark and whimsical, a fusion of Victorian vamp, fanciful beauty, and Old-World luxe tweaked with flavours of the peculiarelements included vintage goblets, shredded black lace, collected birdcages, candelabras and chandeliers. The newlyweds posed with guests Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden.

The striking invitations above are from Wedding Paper Divas! You can view more of this wedding at In Style Weddings.

Angelica Glass | New York Wedding Photographer

We found this lovely wedding photographed by Angelica Glass, we are suckers for a bird cage veil. We love the edgy romantic vibe this wedding gives off. Another aspect that caught our eye was the bride’s lovely jewels that are flowing down the back of her dress. Angelica also has some other edgy fun weddings that you should be sure to check out.

If you wondering where this Bride’s amazing dress came from it is from Amy Michelson. Amy has such lovely dresses with amazing back details.

Amanda Kraft Photography a PA wedding photographer

Amanda Kraft is located in Pennsylvania but available to go any where you want her to go. She is a  food snob, loves to shop and has obsession with oversized handbags. Another girl after our own heart. Christina and Brandon had some serious cute details going on at their yellow barn wedding. I loved the details because not only did they stand out, but they appear to be easy enough that you could do them for your own wedding.

1. The Polaroids are so great, hand a few out and each guest can write something sweet underneath their photo. Hang on a piece of twine or ribbon with a close hanger or cute clip and instance personalized cuteness.

2. The scalloped escort cards appear to be from paper-source! So with hand written names on them with the table numbers.

3. The desert table is filled with what looks to like homemade treats. Simple, but from the heart.

At first glance I was thrown back by this cuter than life wedding. Staring at the images thinking this wedding looks like it is straight out of a magazine. A few minutes later while perusing Amanda’s blog I LOL and found that it was featured in the Bride’s Philadelphia and also in Bride’s South Jersey.

A Unique Wedding

We found this vibrant wedding photographed by Keleigh Layton & Alex Creswell! Filling your day with unique touches that reflect the two of you is definitely what it is all about. Jose and Danielle decorated their tables with pop corn filled tubs and loose candy, such a great idea. Simple enough that you could create this on your own but, fun and festive all at the same time. Loving the candy apples around a glass Coca Cola bottle flowing with colorful candy suckers.

If you love donuts, than forgoing the traditional wedding cakes is definitley ok. I am pretty sure your guests will not mind either. Nothing says delicious like a jelly filled donut and a cold glass of milk.

Marvimon House By Chenin Boutwell

As most of you know we are huge fans of Chenin Boutwell and today we are featuring a simple yet stylish affair shot by Chenin and held at the Marvimon House in Los Angeles, California. More than likely you will be hearing more inside tips on this venue! One of our Real Bridal Bloggers, Jessica will be getting married here.
We wanted to give her a little inspiration for her big day!

The Real Wedding of Jen + Patrick.

Originally built by an Italian race care driver in 1924 as one LA’s first automobile showrooms, Marvimon has reinvented itself as a stand alone super-loft. A 7,000 sq ft floor plan including a vertical garden courtyard. Located near Chinatown, surrounded by Elysian and State Historic Parks this centrally located building is also Green. Their strategically located oversized courtyard doors and skylights are passive lighting, cooling and heating elements that minimize energy usage throughout the year.

A few photos of the venue to give you an idea of this lovely space.

More phenomenal photos of Jen + Patrick taken by Chenin. I am in absolute love with Jen’s dress, which looks like a family heirloom. A delicate peacock hairpiece ties together her whole look.

Easy Breezy Flowers

Our friends at www.countryliving.com shared some other fairly easy DIY ideas for creative wedding centerpieces.

1. Place simple groupings of flowers into coffee and soup cans that you can paint to match your color palette. Try using moss instead of floral foam. Flowers stay in place, and the moss is reusable. You can make them the day before and place in the fridge so that the arrangements stay fresh.

2. Come midsummer the farmers’ market is brimming with fruits, vegetables, and garden-fresh flowers. Picking up a bucket of these seasonal blooms. Pairing dahlias, clematis, viburnum, chocolate cosmos, chamomile, and eucalyptus berries with vintage containers for a look of rustic elegance.

3. Star collecting cake stands from local thrift stores and vintage shopes. This would more than likely be better for a smaller affair. Collecting 15 cake stands might be a bit hard. Trim the bottom off a floral foam sphere so that it can sit on a cake stand, and soak in water for at least 30 minutes. Clip dahlia stems short; insert into the foam until covered.

4. Write each guest’s name on a fresh lamb’s ears leaf with a thin Sharpie marker. Put a leaf at each setting on top of a small terra-cotta pot filled with moss. How easy is that?

5. Collecting small glass vases, egg cups or small tea cups that can easily be found at your local thrift stores. Place single stems purchased at the farmers market and place in the center of the table for that rustic vintage feel.

6. Instead of paying your cake maker to decorate your cake, place extra flowers purchased from the farmers market to tie in your whole theme.

Button bouquets that could also double as party favors are made with from an eastcoast factory that closed in 1940. They are around $28 and with the right theme wedding these arrangements would be perfect and of course they would not die.
