Pink and Orange Wedding Ideas

Flourish Studio Photography sent along a few pink and orange wedding ideas that could definitely add a little pizzazz to any wedding. We especially love the painted white trees that can easily be used as decor at your wedding alter. Add colorful streamers to a painted tree and voila , you have an instant stylish backdrop.

One of our favorite steal worthy ideas is using fresh fruit as place cards. It’s budget-friendly and an easy way to add a pop of color to your table decor. See more pink and orange wedding ideas in the full gallery.

Casa Romantica San Clemente Wedding

Casa Romantica in San Clemente was the backdrop for Clarissa and Dodger’s Spanish style wedding. It’s surrounded with beautiful reds, oranges, greens and blues that come from the gardens and Spanish tiles, and of course the ocean.

The bride tied Casa Romantica in with all the wedding details, which included using a design from a spanish tile at Casa Romantica for invitations, menus, and the wedding cake. McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch is an incredible venue, perfect for a bride and groom looking for a backyard wedding feel. Jessica and Kevin had a specific vision in mind for their wedding and pooled their family resources to help bring this vision to life. The groom’s dad created their invitations and all of the signs used at the wedding. Jessica and her mom sewed the table runners for the reception.

Every last detail was considered – even down to the table name holders on the wine bottles, created specially by a friend and shaped into a perfect “J” and “K”. Guests were treated to lawn games (and prizes!) and BBQ. Serious cuteness that was captured by Jenna Marie Photography. Be sure to see more of this McCormick Home Ranch Wedding in the full wedding gallery.

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

McCormick Home Ranch Wedding

Jessica and Kevin did something during their ceremony that you might want to take note of – a love letter ceremony. Both of them wrote one another a love letter, sealed it and, during the ceremony, each placed their sealed letter into a box along with a bottle of wine. The box was then nailed shut by both of their fathers. The box is to be opened on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Modern Wedding Centerpieces

Event Design and Coordinator Lindye Galloway Events was all about designing a tablescape filled with shapes and color. Creating the perfect modern wedding centerpieces for the a funky, outside-the-box-bride. Read on to hear more details from Lindye.

Be sure to see more modern wedding ideas in the full gallery that was captured by Katie Neal Photo.

The tablescape was all about shapes and color! The modern wood table was donned with a yellow and orange patterned runner and funky white rectangle vases lining the center. Instead of putting flowers in the mouth of the vase, Lindye decided to put flower bunches in the vase’s rectangle holes for a unique look. The table was then filled with delicious food…. seared sea scallops with lemongrass wasabi, chilled tropical soup of mango, pineapple, and mint with a chili-honey drizzle, and finally, cake. Yum!

For the ceremony Lindye Galloway Events built an alter piece that played with shapes. The structure was a tall step-like figure and was topped off with dozens of octagon tiles to give it dimension and interest. The ceremony space was completed with a fun patterned runner and benches on each side.

Desert Botanical Garden Wedding

The desert is home to the agave century plant, which traditionally blooms after 100 years. Our next couple chose this desert plant as a symbol of their love. The plant is featured throughout the garden, and even portrayed in Chihuly sculptures at the garden entrance. The plant was referenced in the vows and displayed on printed material throughout the event, as well. We love when a theme is carried throughout the wedding.

The bride shared so much more with us about this desert wedding so be sure to read on. You can also view the entire wedding gallery by clicking here. All of this desert beauty was captured by Hollye Schumacher Photography.

Guests were given small white bells to ring as the couple walked down the aisle during the recessional. The bells featured tags tied with twine, and said “RING ME!” How sweet of the guests to ring in the newlyweds.

After the ceremony, guests picked up prickly pear margaritas and wandered through the desert pathways to Boppart Courtyard. The courtyard featured bright coral tablecloths on high-top tables, tied with burlap ribbon and topped with small arrangements of succulents.

Guests found their names and table assignments hanging with twine strung between a set of agave stalks Marney’s parents had carefully collected, which continued the theme of the century agave plant. The tags were hand-written by the bride on kraft card stock tags with white ink, so very lovely.

Guests sat in shabby chic white chairs at tables covered in natural green tablecloths. The centerpieces were 8″ x 8″ dark-stained boxes filled with coral peonies, purple lisianthus, yellow genista, flower shaped succulents, yellow & purple freesia, green viburnum, ladies mantle and purple lilac with floating candles highlighting throughout. Each box was wrapped with twine.

Tables were identified by cities Marney and Booth had lived in (Florence, Honolulu, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc). The city names were hand-written by Marney’s artistic cousin Michael in white lettering on kraft card-stock. Place settings were clean and crafty. A kraft menu (designed and printed by Marney) featured the agave logo hand-stamped at the top, and tucked inside a crisply folded white cotton napkin tied with twine. Marney’s mother cut rosemary from her herb garden and added a sprig to each napkin.

The homemade guest book was housed in a Russell + Hazel Signature 3-Ring Binder wrapped in white patent. Inside, natural/kraft and green sheets held green and salmon-colored (empty) envelopes. Guests chose their own blessing from any of five card sets laid out on the table. The cards are hand-stamped with custom designed graphics borrowed from one of Martha Stewart’s guest book ideas. Guests wrote a response to whichever card they chose and slipped it in an empty envelope.

Marney spent a few of her childhood years in London, and has fond memories of snapping British Christmas crackers with her family. After ordering supplies to fabricate 175, she put her parents to work helping stuff the cardboard rolls with almond roca, white LED jelly rings that flash when depressed, traditional silly colorful paper hats, and light marriage jokes like “My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met,” courtesy of Rodney Dangerfield. Marney’s sisters lead the guests in a celebratory “SNAP” to celebrate the couple in their toast.

Another family tradition of the bride’s family is to sing “Happy Trails” as a family member departs. To close down the evening, the band played “Happy Trails” as Marney and Booth danced by their friends and family lining the luminaria-lit pathway. Guests picked up muslin bags hand-stamped with a custom “Happy Trails” stamp designed by the bride and filled with the Binns family’s secret trail mix recipe.

Palm Springs Wedding By Lacie Hansen Photography

In honor of same-sex marriage becoming legal in New York we have a stylish same sex wedding captured by the ever-so-talented Lacie Hansen at the incredibly hip and happening Horizon Hotel. All the details were minimal, yet super snazzy all in the same moment. Catered by The Border Grill  for all of you Top Chef Masters fans. Of course, there are so many more beautiful images to see in the full wedding gallery.

We also have some of the hottest gay wedding trends from the gay wedding institute so be sure to read on.

Gay wedding trends from the gay wedding institute

1. Use candles instead of floral for decor. Candles en masse are totally popular right now with gay couples. Clustered candles as centerpieces. Floating candles. Candleabras. A series of pillars clustered. And we are using LED candles if real candles aren’t allowed. LED candles have come a long way and make this design element even more appealing. Candles can be edgy, classic or romantic – or all of the above.

2. Two aisles for the ceremony continues to be BIG. This gives each bride or each groom their own space – they love the two becomes one metaphor and of course, it’s another place to decorate which is always fun. Love the decor, love the metaphor!

3. Pre-ceremony champagne or bar. Your guests enter the ceremony space and are greeted with champagne and sparkling water or a full open bar for 15-30 minutes before the ceremony. Um, yes please! This trend helps your guests take the edge off, especially for those who may not be super excited to be attending a gay wedding. It also sets a very celebratory tone.

4. Wedding weekends. Three day weddings are super hot right now – if you think about it, having all your nearest and dearest in one place doesn’t happen very often. We are going far beyond the rehearsal dinner and the brunch to really planning full on group activities (think Fun Runs, high ropes and scavenger hunts!) for three consecutive days. It’s fun for everyone and guarantees a memorable experience!

5. Cocktail Dresses. For the brides, not the grooms! We’ve seen more and more brides lately in cocktail dresses, even little black cocktail dresses! Again, it sets a very celebratory and fun tone and immediately conveys to the guests to expect the unexpected at this wedding bash.

A huge congratulations to Drew and Andy for a most beautiful wedding and celebration!

Seductive And Glamorous Wedding Details

The Beverly Hills SLS Hotel is a landmark of sleek sophistication. Providing endless inspiration with an experience of a seductive and glamorous environment. A perfect backdrop for a stylish modern wedding.

Enjoy all of these glamorous wedding details captured by Jessica Claire and perfectly styled by Alicia Townsend of Details Details. Of course there are so many more glamorous wedding details to be seen in the full gallery.

Sunny of White Lilac Inc. truly outdid herself while creating a table top of style and luxury using her personal vintage jewelry collection and her colorful books of intellect. The tabletop was filled with gradations of yellow, orange, and cream floral with beautiful Dahlias, Billy Balls, Kattelaya Orchids, Mukara Orchids, Succulents, and Tree Peonies. Also, adding elements of white ceramic pieces and velvet ribbon napkin treatments were a luxuriously chic touch! It is pretty much off the hook spectacular.

The playful colored and patterned tile from the Garden Terrace provided the perfect creativity this amazing modern wedding stationery. The antler heads from the lobby of the hotel presented a style that provided a unique take on the table top while incorporating the antlers within the invitations, adorable cookies, and stylish chandeliers.

We love antlers and cannot get enough of the stylish wedding print material designed by Paper Made Design. How much do you love them?

How spectacular is this modern wedding cake? Designed by one of our Hand-Picked wedding vendors, Vanilla Bake Shop . They make beautiful and delicious desserts & cakes from scratch with high quality ingredients such as Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans and Belgium chocolate. We think they are pretty super delicious. Music Themed Wedding

Our next bride happens to be full time wedding photographer (Emily Porter Photo) and her wedding has some clever ideas that we know you are sure to enjoy. In fact she goes into full detail about the entire wedding here. From start to finish the theme it’s a music themed wedding. From the engagement all the way to the table decor, it was all about the tunes. Captured by Ken Kienow.

Emily had so many clever ideas for their wedding, but one we think that you will especially love is that the little eggs you see on the table are actually tea lights. Since the wedding is based around music, the idea was to have a song assigned to a table in order for them to hit the buffet. Pure Genius.

The desert table is pretty intense and there are so many more photos of it in the full gallery that you have to see. The reason why it is so intense is Emily lost over 100 pounds (amazing!) and sweets are her weakness so every time she had a craving she added it to the desert table. Another brilliant idea.

Harvest Inspired Colorado Wedding

In order to commemorate this Halloween, we thought we would throw a little fall wedding inspiration your way this holiday. Adrienne & Eric’s Colorado wedding has some splendid DIY touches and is filled with all of our favorite autumn colors. Read on to learn how they conquered their fall DIY wedding, captured by Colorado wedding photographers Eric & Moriah Photography.

Be sure to see the entire wedding gallery by clicking here.

From Adrienne, The Bride:

I love autumn and wanted the decoration and flowers to resemble fall colors with dried grasses, pumpkins and fall foliage. Eric’s mother found large pumpkins she hollowed out and filled with water, then placed heart shaped floating candles in them, she also got mini pumpkins we used as place card holders, Eric’s sister made all the name tags attached to the mini pumpkins with pins. We found Martha Stewart craft punches of oak, maple and aspen leaves and punched out of fall colored card stock to create fall leaf confetti for the tables. I contacted Palmer Flowers and they made centerpiece wreaths with curly willow, wheat, bear grass and red and green eucalyptus leaves and buds. In the center we had red and orange candles. I wanted a bouquet with lots of texture and color, I had a hand tied bouquet with lotus pods, fiddle fern, coxcomb, Leonidas roses, hypericum berries, flame calla lilies, curly willow, feathers, eucalyptus buds, bear grass and pin cushion protia, all wrapped in ivory satin with chocolate satin crisscrossed ribbon. Eric’s boutonniere had a flame calla lily, feather, and fiddle fern curl.

Orange Wedding Ideas From Tokyo

This wedding comes straight to you from Tokyo and Sutherland Kovach Studio! We know you are loving the orange Fendi open toed pumps with the adorable bows! So incredibly cute. Reiko is Japanese, from Tokyo, and Baptiste is French, from Paris. They decided that Tokyo was the best place for them to get married. Reiko goes into detail about their special day so be sure to read on. Enjoy this international delight and be sure to view the entire wedding gallery here.

From Reiko The Bride

Baptiste and I both wanted to have an elegant and chic wedding. One thing I was really insistent upon was to wear a kimono (Japanese traditional outfit). Baptiste wore one in white and I wore one in purple, after the ceremony.

When we were choosing the venue, we had a few things in mind. The first was that it had to be beautiful; secondly, it needed to provide good food (usually, in Japan, a venue itself supplies food for a wedding, using a catering service is not yet popular), and third, it needed to have a nice garden. When we visited Ogasawara Hakusyakutei, we liked the place immediately. It had a beautiful marquee where we could have the ceremony, a big garden, and a nice patio and rooftop. Plus, it has a Michelin star so the quality of food was guaranteed. We had the ceremony and reception here, and then for the nijikai (afterparty) we went to a restaurant in the Aoyama district of Tokyo.

My dress was by Catherine Regehr, from Barneys NY in Tokyo. When I found it, I knew it was the one for me. It was exactly my style, very simple and elegant, and exactly my size. I had another dress from Robert Rodriguez for the nijikai.

Originally, I’d picked different flowers for each room at the venue, but the more I thought about it, that didn’t sit right so I simplified it, using just white and green. For the dining room, I added in a few different colors – a smoky pink, a lighter green – to create more of a vintage feel, which I absolutely love.

We’d planned to make a CD with all our favorite songs for the music but three weeks before the wedding, I thought it might be nicer to have live music. Though it was very last minute, I got lucky and found a quartet. I requested my favorite classical music (mainly Bach as the Brandenburg Concerto #5 is one of my faves) and they played beautifully.

Our wedding incorporated lots of traditions, and some we changed around a bit to suit us more. In Japan, the bride usually reads a letter to her parents to express her appreciation for them in front of all the guests, but I didn’t want to make it too personal, or just between me and my parents. So, we made a slideshow of pictures starting from our childhoods and going through to the present, and including our parents’ wedding pictures. We also presented our parents with teddy bears that weighed the same as our birth weights, with our details embroidered on them.

I loved planning this wedding, and I am looking forward to celebrating again at our French wedding which will be held in Paris in October!

Malibu Graphic Designer’s Wedding

Jocelyn and Cortney’s wedding was truly a beautiful reflection of a couple that loves California’s beaches and sunshine. Jocelyn designed her own wedding invitations, escort cards, menus, chocolate bar favors, as well as the custom wine labels. She and her husband Cortney made everything so personal through all of their planning! We are loving the simple laid back beach decor and all the lovely small details–especially her Nicole Miller wedding gown. Nicole Miller seems to make the perfect wedding gown for a beach side wedding, don’t you think?

DIY Western Wedding With Pumpkins

Happy Saturday! We have a western DIY wedding from Nordica Photography to share with you today.

Rhett and Leah’s wedding was filled to the brim with DIY fall wedding details. The venue for the wedding was on Leah’s family property in Cache Creek, British Columbia. The wedding details were inspired by the colors of fall, and the simplicity of a typical western-Canadian ranching family. From the pumpkin carvings, to the jars of jam that were gifts to the bouquets of flowers in traditional canning jars that hung around the property, the families put a massive effort into beautiful, yet simple, details.

Be sure to check out all of the DIY fall wedding details by clicking here.

Fall Wedding Decor Ideas

Fall has approached, and we always get very excited with all the fun and decorative pieces you can find when this time of year hits. Andi Mans Photography shared with us this “mysterious woodsy table for two”, with a southern touch. Everything that is hanging was crafted by hand, including the White Cupcake Liner Pom Poms, burlap table cloth and homemade meringue.

1960s Mad Men Theme Wedding

Susie here — also known as The Wedding Chicks programmer. You might remember my Mad Men Save the Date from earlier this year (click here to get your own customized version). I can’t believe it, but the wedding came and went on Friday, October 1! I’m here to share the details with you! Please enjoy our Mad Men Theme Wedding.

All of the amazing photos were taken by the super sweet and oh-so-talented Seattle wedding photographer, Julie Harmsen.

When we got engaged we knew our wedding wouldn’t be traditional. We wanted something fun, comfortable, and focused on our love. To come up with the theme, I brainstormed with Jocey (one half of The Wedding Chicks!). Our original venue, which actually went out of operation before our wedding, was decked out in mid-century modern furniture. We loved this look, so we chose to match it with an early-to-mid 60s Mad Men theme. I started collecting ideas by going through vintage magazines from the 1960s, like Vogue, and photo galleries from the show.

To capture the Mad Men look, I had my dress custom designed by Andrea Pitter of Pantora. Working with Andrea was so easy! I explained my vision and she took my ideas and came up with her own creative spin. I finished the look with vintage-inspired jewelry by Mercury Jane Designs on Etsy. The birdcage veil and mini hat was custom designed by Eugenia of Petit Plume, who stepped in for me very last minute and designed something 100% original! Of course the look would not have been complete without the help of Renee and Emily of Two Fishes Artistry, who gave me a high, retro updo and beautiful makeup to match.

We had planned for our wedding to be held at a rooftop venue overlooking the Las Vegas strip. We wanted the reception to feel more like a cocktail party with dancing under the stars. Six weeks before the wedding, we discovered that our venue had gone “out of operation”. Our absolutely incredible wedding coordinator, Juliet Douglas of Green Orchid Events, really came through for us in hunting down a replacement venue on such short notice. She executed and coordinated the entire wedding flawlessly. Juliet and her team were our wedding heroes! Thanks to their hard work, we landed a perfect backup venue in The Platinum Hotel a few miles off the strip. The Misora Terrace at the hotel has a breathtaking view of the Strip as well as the mountains beyond, making it a beautiful spot for the ceremony as well as the perfect spot for a party-vibe reception after sunset.

We kept the ceremony simple, and sweet, and it was such a beautiful event for us! We only invited our immediate family members to the ceremony to keep it intimate. We placed benches for the guests around our four post altar with hanging orange and white blooms and crystals. Everyone had a great seat, and we were surrounded by a warm, loving energy. Our officiant Reverend Judy Irving wrote such a touching ceremony that all of our guests loved.

At the reception, we opted for an interactive dessert station rather than a traditional wedding cake. Our floral designer, Fleuretica, along with Picture Perfect Events, came up with the clever concept of a station divided in half, with one side representing feminine, and the other masculine, joined together by a common object: a window in the middle of a shared wall. This symbolism was so perfect for marriage, but also for the Mad Men theme in creating a retro kitchen for one side, and a sleek mid-century modern bar or office for the other. They filled each space with vintage furniture and props from the 1960s. I felt like we were on the Mad Men set! Sweet and Saucy Shop provided the delicious and lovely little desserts for each side, which included mini lattice top pies and delicate french macaroons in the kitchen, and rich chocolate mousse dessert shots and chocolate dipped pecan shortbread squares in the office.

Guests were encouraged to channel Mad Men in their attire. Fleuretica put together an amazing accessory bar for us, again using vintage pieces and tons of props throughout the display. The ladies could finish off their retro look with gloves, handbags, pearls, and scarves, while the men could grab a fedora, vintage tie, and vest, amongst other items. The station also had other great details, like an old shoe shine kit and perfume bottles. This was a huge hit with our guests! We let them capture their look in photos by setting up a photo booth area with a long couch right next to the accessory bar. Our amazing photographer, Julie Harmsen, created the setup for us and provided a remote control so guests could snap their own shots. We now have hundreds of hilarious, super fun photos that we will absolutely treasure forever.

In lieu of a traditional guestbook, an aqua, vintage typewriter (do any weddings *not* have a vintage typewriter these days?) directed guests to write a note and tack it to our “office bulletin board”, as Mad Men is set mostly in the office. I also purchased an orange suitcase from the 1960s on Etsy, and used it to hold the cookie favors. The favors were made by my uber talented sister-in-law, Brigi, who matched them to the invitations I designed (look for a customizable version of my invitation coming your way soon!). We also included four popular 1960s cocktails for guests to try at the bar.

DJ Smiles Davis of the infamously awesome The Flashdance kept the party going all night long. Smiles was our dream DJ! She played a great eclectic mix of songs and kept the party vibe right where we wanted it without ever treading anywhere near “traditional reception music”. Everything you have heard about The Flashdance is true — they are the best, there is no way around it.

Lighten Films was on hand to capture the event in live action on film. We’ll share a trailer from them in a few weeks so you can see what it was like, up close and personal!

I will be sharing more details and personal stories over in Brides in the coming weeks!

San Luis Obispo Holland Ranch Wedding

Schell and Morgan got married at the Holland Ranch on the central coast in San Luis Obispo. This venue was amazing and all the details of this day fit perfectly. Morgan gave Schell a new surfboard as a wedding gift. They had homemade pies and doughnuts for dessert. The flower girl wore an orange and blue tutu. Being from Hawaii, Schell’s mom and sister performed a traditional hula dance, to add something special from home for the wedding. All of this captured by the ever fabulous Aaron Shintaku Photography.

The Cutest California DIY Wedding Ever

We have a huge crush on Joy Harmon Prouty of Wildflowers Photography and we are over the moon to share her next wedding with you. If you recall, we actually featured Rochelle and Bobby’s darling engagement shoot. Inspired By Their Love Of Children was the theme of the engagement shoot which naturally carried on to their wedding decor and was actually styled by Wildflowers Photography as well. Talk about a jack of all trades.

Rochelle and Bobby wanted their wedding to be fun, creative, personal, handmade, inexpensive and a theme based upon all things childlike. They also firmly believed that it should be a day celebrating their love for God and their childlike joy in waiting on His timing in bringing the two of them together.

From Wildflowers Photography on the creative touches of the day:

Pinwheels made out of children’s book pages, paper chains, painted cardboard clouds, quilts hanging as backdrops, hundreds of old time candies, paper flowers, chalkboard artwork, cupcakes topped with fruit loops, gummy worms and sprinkles, a dinner catered by an in & out truck, a cotton candy machine, multicolored paper crowns, handmade boutonnieres with kites colored by my Gracie, paper “leaves” cut from an old Cinderella storybook and a lollipops, 20 pairs of converse sneakers and one fantastic hand made swing set.

Michigan Farm Style Wedding

Before we present this week’s Sweet Treats, we want to give you one last dose of wedding eye candy to get you through the weekend.

There is not a better way to kick off the weekend than a good old fashion farm wedding chalked full of funky fresh wedding details. Nicole Ladonne Photography captured this down home wedding that took place at Piccard Farm in Marne, MI.

Some fun wedding tid bits that we know you will enjoy are the tables were named after all the places the couple had traveled to together. The cake toppers were inspired by etsy but hand painted by the bride. The stamp banner on the cake were actually stamps from Kilimanjaro and Ecuador, and all places and mountains the couple has climbed. It really does not get more personal than that.

Malibu Canyon Indie Wedding

Kaitrin and Erik both live in the North East and flew to Los Angeles to be married. The wedding took place in Malibu at the “Inn of the seventh ray” which is nestled in a beautiful canyon.

The Inn is surrounded by horse ranches and bordered by a lazy creek. The weather was perfect and both the bride and groom looked amazing. The wedding colors were peach, yellow and orange. The theme was “For ever and a day.” After the ceremony, the guests dinned and danced the nigh away. For their grand exit, Kaitrin and Erik ran through a tunnel of sparklers. Love this!

Palm Springs Wedding At The O’Donnell House

Anna and Brandon live in snowy Canada and wanted to have a wedding filled with sunshine. The obvious choice would be Palm Springs, where the sun is rarely shy and the skies are always blue.

They settled on The O’Donnell House for their wedding venue. What makes The O’Donnell House a little different than a boutique hotel is that offer two different large houses that you can stay in and hold your wedding and reception. Nestled against a mountainside in the heart of Old Palm Springs Village, this makes a more intimate desert wedding. Thanks to JAC Photography for sharing this desert wedding with us. Take note of all the exquisite flower designed by Luna Salomon. We especially love the anemone wedding bouquet and birch trees used as vases. Everything is simple yet elegant.

Ranch Style Wedding Overflowing With Glamour

White Haute Photography is super hot! Be sure not miss all the super glamorous details from XOXO Bride.

So of course we had to share with you Scott and Kirsten’s ranch style wedding. Below is the wedding story from White Haute. Let us just say the population of the town where the wedding was held was a whopping 18.

My first pinch was on the drive to the wedding site, a town called Parkfield, population 18.  We drove for 15 miles on a one-lane road, passing horse pastures and thousands of cattle. The hand-painted wooden signs kept us on track, but when we reached the town itself, we blinked and missed it, heading another several miles past our destination. After a few dirt roads and some frantic phone calls with one half a bar of cell service, we realized our mistake and returned to the town. When you park, you look to your left and see one half of the town, the Parkfield Lodge. Turn to your right, and the other half greets you, the Parkfield Cafe.

Now this isn’t just any old town in the middle of nowhere, it happens to be the Earthquake Capital of the World, a town with more scientific equipment monitoring the ground than anywhere else on the planet. It was definitely a unique setting, but the details really made this wedding spectacular. The groom in his custom cowboy hat and boots, the handmade leather photo guest book the couple made themselves, the rustic feel of the celebration made us feel like part of a huge family, and it was amazing to witness. Thank you to the girls at XOXO Bride for putting on such a spectacular event.

Enjoy Scott and Kirsten’s ranch style wedding!

Costa Rica Wedding From Jose Villa Photography Part I

First off we have to give a special shout out to the Groom, Akil Bennet, who happens to be a Wedding Chicks photographer in Houston, TX.

Akil wanted nothing but the best for his tropical island getaway. So, of course, he enlisted fine art wedding photographer Jose Villa to capture his Costa Rica wedding after attending one of Jose’s workshops. Besides choosing the wedding photographer Alex, the bride, planned 100% of the wedding with assistance from Tropical Occasions. She wanted Akil to be surprised with this breath taking island event.

If you are planning a Costa Rica wedding be sure to take note of the weather. There is no real summer or winter in Costa Rica and the rainy season here lasts from May to November, with the months of December through April having little to no rain and September and October being the heaviest rain period. As far as heat goes the coolest months of the year are November, December and January. The months March through May are the hottest months of the year.

Be sure to stay tuned later today we will be showcasing more of this seriously beautiful couple.

Stay tuned there will be so much more to enjoy!

Shabby Chic Engagement Shoot

jessica claire photography engagement

We wanted to end the day with our continuation of our shabby chick bridal shower shot by Jessica Claire Photography.

Carter and Cook Event Co. wanted to transform the brunch bridal shower into an engagement shoot. This is ideal for a bride-to-be-homemaker, and a groom who loves her baked goodies!

Cute as a Button became the theme for the shoot. Erica incorporated more of our colors in adorable sugar cookie button shaped cookies. The bride wore a tangerine polka dot dress from Anthropologie, and wore her adorable hair piece from Ink and Button. The bouquet was designed using acacia and tied with button garland.

We created a cozy atmosphere with blankets, pillows, chairs and boxes in the beautiful hills. We also used baking supplies, cookies, oven mittens, and cook books to tell the story of a cute couple, and homemaker to be!

Shabby Chic Bridal Shower II

shabby chic bridal shower ideas

Thank you for stopping by and coming to see part two of our shabby chic bridal shower. Shot by the lovely Jessica Claire Photography. Please be sure to stop by later today there is still more prettiness that wish to share with you.

Read on to see how Carter and Cook Event Co. pulled together this adorable event.

Because spring is right around the corner, they wanted a look that was fresh, fun, feminine and unique! They chose shades of yellow, sea blue, greens and mixed in bits of tangerine. All clean colors to reflect the vibe of Cafe Mimosa. The soft green dishes were found at found at TJ Maxx for $4 a piece! The stemware and mugs where bought at our favorite shabby chic hang out, Anthropologie.

That table cloth and runner was custom sewn. The floral pattern overlay which was delicately lined with a fun fringe. The cuter than life baby pink table runner was also custom made. They took a stripped tangerine and cream piece of fabric and glued hundreds of buttons on the ends of the runner. The variety of buttons were collected from Michael’s, and Etsy. It was basically a button bonanza.

shabby chic table setting

So onto the cakes, how adorable are these?

Erica O’Brien Cake created a bridal shower sized cake and a mini cake for each place setting complete with fondant lemons, kumquats and buttons. These are serious cuteness.

button garland

The button garland!! Truly a labor of love, but so worth it! It really makes the space beautiful and unique. Carter and Cook Event Co strung each button one by one to make various draping levels of button garland.

The adorable menu’s, place cards, and invitations were hand stitched and adorned with button by the fabulous Paper and Thread!

tea party decor

I love the flowers they immediately stood out to me as pure perfection.

The Floral Lab created a beautiful centerpiece for this shabby chic tablescape. She used beautiful orange ranunculus, tulips, hydrangea, mini daffodils, Craspedia (billy balls) and my personal favorite, Kumquats. The florals were done in three simple white rectangular vases to keep our look clean and fresh.

Excellent job, don’t you think?

To keep in the ‘brunch’ theme, each guest received a wooden recipe box full of favorite recipes. The recipe box has an Ink and Button hair piece, which each girl can wear in their hair, or fastened a sweater! Tied on the back of each chair was a set of measuring spoons for an added touch!

They were serenaded by an actual fiddler on the roof (acclaimed jazz musician Carlos Reyes performed from the roof of the house high above the gathering).

They wanted the dinner tent to feel like the outdoor hillside that they were both so passionate about.  Hence the mix of dried grass & bright whimsical floral arrangements on each oval table and the added accent of the pashmina shawls placed on the back of the chiavari chairs. Every last detail was thought of by Lisa Feldman, an over the top amazing event coordinator.

A South Carolina Wedding From Ashley Brokop

ashley brokop photography

Ashley Brokop is pretty great and we love the way that she captured this South Carolina wedding. Filled with good old fashion fun and a the couple looks like they are a ton of fun. Do you love the photo of the bride walking into the church?

I had a little chuckle when I saw the photo, it was actually the image that sold me on posting the wedding and then as I dove more into I fell in love with the good old fashion fun.

Sun Valley, Idaho Wedding by Hillary Maybery

Idaho Wedding

I am not sure if everyone knows this but, we are actually based out of Idaho. So, when Hillary Maybery sent us this Sun Valley wedding we were thrilled to post it. Especially since it reminded me of summer. Winter is fast approaching and the snow should be here any day.

Lydia and Luke’s wedding was filled with good friends, tasty food and tons of fun. Luke designed a drawing and had it put on skateboards for him and his groomsmen. hey offered a kids tables with watermelon, Crayola crayons, and butcher paper.  They opted for a catered BBQ by a local restaurant, Full Moon Catering, to keep it budget friendly, but offer delicious food! It looks like a wonderful time.

Rustic Chic Wedding By Duston Todd Part III

Mormon Wedding

Thank you for sticking around to see the rest of Meg & Matthew’s wedding. They where married at Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada in Thousand Oaks, Ca. Looks like a great rustic outdoor venue. You get 50 year-old walnut tree, oak barrels and gentle ocean breezes from the west. It looks and sounds quite lovely. I am going to let Meg share the rest of her details with you below.

From The Bride: For my center pieces I accomplished that by using milk and mason jars that my husband and I hunted down at Thrit Stores. Inside them we put different flowers such as chamomile, daisies, and crespedia a.k.a “buttons”. We also put in blueberry jelly bellys, candles and I wanted to put honey in some jars but it is obviously expensive and actually isn’t as yellow as I thought, so I put apple juice as a substitute. For our “sign in book” we decided to use a sign in tree. My florist made a miniature tree and put it in a pot. Instead of using  a sign in book, I had guests write a message or just even their names on a little tag and then hang it on a branch. Backyard Chick Wedding

The wedding was held in Kennet, Missouri (home town of Sheryl Crow) a little fact from the Simply Bloom ladies. Enjoy the beauty and share with us how much you heart Christine and Vania. Aren’t they simply wonderful?

Farmhouse Wedding Ideas From Kella MacPhee

wedding getaway car

The Rosebank winery in Newtown, PA was the setting for this farmhouse wedding sent to us by Kella MacPhee. The renovated barn has a huge outdoor deck and has a beautifully landscaped patio, which is available for smaller parties and gatherings. Amanda & Teil where married in the middle of hurrican season but, luckily enough it was nothing but blue skies and sunshine.

Fresh locally grown produce was set up for the guests to be taken home in burlap sacks! Nothing like fresh veggies. Oak wine barrels were the perfect tables for the guest book. The place cards neatly sat in a box of fresh dried lavender.

Amanda’s tea length wedding dress is simply divine. Perfect for a summer wedding. The bridesmaid’s floral dresses went perfect with the whole farmhouse theme.

Each guests name was neatly printed on a butterfly card and gently placed on the water glasses. What an incredibly lovely touch.

39 East Photography sent us over this stunning Indonesian wedding. They also sent along all the details from the big day, hopefully this will give you a bit of inspiration and inside knowledge to a spectacular event. Thank you so much to 39 East Photography for sharing.

The couple, Joanne and David, who currently reside in Hong Kong, had requested that their wedding be intimate. They wanted details which were warm colored and reflected their fun, outgoing personality. The venue had to be a location where their guests could enjoy themselves before, during and after the wedding. The wedding planner, Hannah, thus settled on a villa, called Villa Atas Ombak, which had 150 ft of beach frontage as the venue of their wedding.

For the ceremony, the following details were setup
1. Heaven’s Gift erected a gazebo built of bamboo and fabric, adorn with warm coloured roses, deep red and green amaranthus and viburnum for the ceremonial altar.
2. Guests were given dishes of tuberose as confetti (LOVE THAT)
3. Bridal Party were dressed with a touch of coral orange in their attire, from groomsmen ties, to the bridesmaid dresses, and the headpieces of the flower girls

For the reception, the following details were setup
1. A Cookies and Sweets Galore table created for the guests. Guests were invited to help themselves to some of the couples favorite candy. A large cherry tree was installed to serve as the wishing tree for the couple. Guests sent their wishes and greetings for the couple while they enjoyed the local delights.
2. The banquet settings centralised around the key feature of Atas Ombak The Central Swimming Pool.
3. Marquees with pretty linings were lined up around the pool.
4. White Phalanenopsis Orchids, various range of Glandiflora roses and ranunculus were the key flowers for the reception.
5. The floating dance floor and the floating stage on the pool was the unique feature of the event. A Scottish pop band entertained the crowd with their numbers during the reception.
6. Special ambient lighting was installed within the marquee, and under the pool to create the magical overall. The surrounding frangipani trees were also lined with fairy lights, while trees around the villa were installed with warm lights to complete the enchanted settings.
7. Guests were served with best French cuisine food and wines from Mozaic Bali (renowned French restaurant in Bali). Mini cakes were specially designed for all guests to complete the theme.
8. And guests were given a leather photo frame with personalised words from the couple.
9. All wedding stationery from Invitations, Program Fan, Menu cards, place cards were all specially designed accordingly to the theme : Enchanted Bali.

Mucha produced a flurry of paintings, mostly featuring beautiful healthy young women in flowing gowns, often surrounded by lush fresh flowers. The women often wore amazing head pieces such as the lovely comb above. He often used soft pastel colors, a utterly perfect theme for a romantic garden wedding.

The Art Nouveau comb can be purchased at Past Perfect Vintage. Wonderful for bridesmaids and not super expensive around $45. The goddess dress can be purchased from the ever wonderful Monique Lhuilllier.

For all you DIY brides below are some divine free Art Nouveau fonts. The first one is Trinigan and the second one in Art Noveau Caps

Nicolette Camille a Brooklyn Floral Designer

So, as I mentioned previously I am a Design Sponge Junkie… especially the sneak peeks. I came across Nicolette Camille’s brooklyn home on there and casually visited her site and was instantly inspired and thought you would be as well. Her work… stunning, gorgeous and all those magical words.

I also found it quite inspiring that Nicolette creates these visual masterpieces in her kitchen. It goes to show that magic can happen anywhere and a home based business is nothing to joke about.

A farm house wedding

Allyson Magda shoot an incredible wedding at Willow Creek Olive Ranch The details were over the top, from canned champagne to Nelson, their French Bulldog who was the ring bearer. I am loving the down home feeling. The bright citrus colors of the flowers and the flattering yellow on all the bridesmaids. Did I mention how freaking cute the ring bearer was… I saw him and just about died.

The barn wedding always look like so much fun. Everyone always seems to be dancing and having a good old time. Do you love the place card arrangement peaking out of the fresh blades of grass set atop a lace table cloth? What a great wedding!

Ryan and Randall Dagooc is the talent behind the duo MangoRed. They describe their work as as a tickle in your brain..it’s not just the quality of the idea, it’s the quality of the execution, the finish. The unique spin in colors, the lines, perspective..when these elements align, they create a visual perfume. Which, you can in fact see from their wedding in AMRITSAR PUNJAB INDIA. Please visit their site to see the full wedding it is to die for.

As we keep staring at these photos, it is hard not to imagine the time and love that was put into creating this stunning dress and headpiece. The whole ensumble is a masterpiece.
