I’m very untraditional in many ways, but for some reason, I am drawn to the tradition of taking my husband’s name. I want to build a family with him, and I want our family (us and our kids) to share the same name. I find the whole process very symbolic, and while I’m quite attached to my maiden name, I’m strangely excited for the change. I’d love to win this so I can focus on that symbolism, and not the headache of the whole process!

I definitely want to take my fiance’s name when we get married, but I am totally worried that I’ll forget some little but very important aspect of it, like I’ll get to the airport for our honeymoon and realize I never renewed my passport or something. I do plan to take my future husbands name! I think that taking your husbands name is the finalization of the both of you becoming one. Its now the start of your own family. There is so much in a name, especially when it is shared and passed down generation through generation.

Everything in my name expires in May 2010, the same month I am set to wed. My last name is a boy’s name and people flip-flop them! I can’t wait to change it. I don’t have any close friends who are married so this would be an easier way to go about it without having to do research and ask a bazillion questions.
Growing up, I though I’d keep my name. But (and I know this sounds lame) after hearing a Justin Timberlake lyric “I was ready, to give you my name,” it hit me that this was alos a leap for a guy too, sharing something that personal as your name. It’s truly a gift to become a ‘Celia’ :)

My fiancee and I are both changing our names (he’s adding my last name as a middle name, and I’m moving my last name to a middle name and tacking on his last name), and I think that this would aid us greatly! I was debating whether or not to change my name, but I did want the connectedness of sharing names. Bottom line - I’m ridiculously busy! I’m getting married as soon as tax season is over (I’m a CPA — meaning I work ridiculous hours from January through April). After the wedding is over, I just want to RELAX. This will help so much!

Growing up I never even considered that I’d change my name for marriage. I thought that doing so would make me lose my individuality and independence. I would love an opportunity to streamline the process of getting rid of my last name so much!! The name I bear comes from my biological male DNA, when my mother married my step-father I begged for his last name but he wouldn’t do that to my grandfather. My grandfather was an amazing man, after he passed I was “too old” to go through the adoption process. Now I met & am marrying the most amazing man in the world & finally get rid of this name!!!! Anything to make it faster & easier would just make this year more blissful!

I’d love to have this name change service! I have the most common Vietnamese last name (take a guess) and it has been a hassle all my life. Even more troublesome, someone with the same name as me happens to have bad credit, and the credit agencies mix us up all the time! It’s time consuming and difficult to have to keep cleaning up your credit report, especially when you’re trying to buy a house.
I’ve actually just decided that I am going to change my name. Sharing the same name is yet another way to be closer to your partner. ME! Me! Ok, let’s be honest here. My name is Julia Roberts. JULIA ROBERTS. Yes, it has been fun at times and very useful when making reservations or calling a taxi, but it can be frustrating too.
