Will You Be My Do It Yourself Download

Do It Yourself, or DIY, wedding projects allow you to create your own personalized favors and touches that can be applied in any way you can imagine on your special day, for a shower, a party or whenever. All you need are some basic items and a little creativity.

This Will You Be My Do It Yourself Download is a completely awesome idea to wow your wedding party. Available for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, you’ll have a blast making them. See more of our fabulous Do It Yourself projects here.

Stephanie Hunter Photography recently made these Will You Be My bottles for her bridesmaids and for her fiance’s groomsmen for their upcoming wedding. She goes on to share you with you how they created this cuter than life Do It Yourself Will You Be My Downloads.

From Stephanie:
We loved the idea of using the Wedding Chicks templates for cards but wanted something that really read into our style and that our friends would love, so we bought beer and spiked lemonade and used special waterproof labels to bring it all together. It was a HUGE hit! All of our attendants decided to keep their bottles…the girls are even going to keep them as little vases to house flowers in the future!

1. Buy bottles – beer, wine, spiked lemonade or flavored water…really, anything goes!
2. Buy special labels (important…we tried it with normal labels and they quickly became discolored and shriveled)! We used these on weatherproof matte inkjet beer labels.
3. Customize your cards/labels from Wedding Chicks: For The Bridesmaids Click Here. For The Groomsmen Click Here. To change your desired colors save image by right-clicking.
4. Use label software or template available on the Online Labels website to create labels
5. Import earlier customized image onto label using template or software.
6. Use whatever font you want to put the name of the bridal party member on the top label (where the neck of the bottle is).
7. Print final design on labels.
8. Remove existing labels from bottles – you may need to soak in warm water first.
9. Dry thoroughly.
10. Attach customized labels avoiding air bubbles.
11. Hand out and enjoy! *Tip: Buy extra labels in case you make mistakes!

This Do It Yourself Two Sided Felt Heart Pillow Cake Topper is the perfect little beauty for weddings, showers, or every day occasions. See other do-it-yourself wedding projects.

Step 1: Assemble Your Supplies. For this project, you will need:

  1. Two standard-size pieces of felt in the contrasting colors of your choice
  2. Three lollipop sticks, available in the cake decorating section of most crafts stores
  3. Fabric glue
  4. Approximately five yards 3/8 ribbon
  5. Safety pins
  6. Craft knife
  7. Freezer paper (optional)
  8. Embellishments, such as buttons, iron-on appliques, vintage stud earings, decorative brads, etc.
  9. Needle and embroidery floss (not shown)
  10. Polyfill or other pillow stuffing (not shown)

Step 2: Draw or trace larger heart onto paper. Carefully cut heart template. (We folded the paper in half to ensure that both sides were symmetrical.)

Step 3: Safety pin paper template to felt and cut around template. Repeat, creating two identical hearts. (If using optional freezer paper, adhere paper waxy-side down with iron on medium heat. Trace heart shape onto freezer paper and cut.)
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 with smaller heart.

Step 5: Using fabric glue, attach smaller heart to larger heart. Repeat with other cutout hearts.
Step 6: Attach embellishments using fabric glue. For studded earings and brads, attach by piercing felt with a craft knife and then inserting stud or brad.

Step 7: Create a loop by folding a ribbon in half and glue on the inside of one of the hearts. Using embroidery floss, stitch around the outer edges of the heart, leaving room to insert stuffing.
Step 8: Stuff pillow and finish stitching.

Step 9: Wrap ribbon around lollipop sticks and adhere with fabric glue. Use embroidery floss to tie sticks together.
Step 10: Hang heart on sticks. Carefully insert into cake.

Note: Before creating your felt heart cake topper, be sure you know the dimensions of the top tier so you can determine how big your heart should be as well as how far apart the supports should be.

Do It Yourself Rum Butter Balls

Do It Yourself, or DIY, wedding projects allow you to create your own personalized favors and touches that can be applied in any way you can imagine on your special day, for a shower, a party or whenever. All you need are some basic items and a little creativity.

This Do It Yourself Rum Butter Balls recipe is so dear to my heart. My grandma, Genn Zawacki, is more of a mother than a grandmother to me and quite possibly the best baker on the planet. She is the sweetest and most loving person, not to mention she has a great sense of humor. She is the glue that holds our family together and most, if not all, of my happiest childhood memories include my grandma and grandpa. I love her so much, and it is with great pleasure that I can share this recipe with you. My grandma traditionally baked these cookies around the holidays and they were always a very special treat for us. The taste of them brings good memories flooding into my mind. Maybe you can start a tradition with your new family, too. I hope you enjoy it, and Grandma, if you made it down to Dad’s office to see this today, I love you, and I love you too, Dad.

Grandma Zawacki’s Rum Butter Balls
Ingredients:
1 cup of pecans or walnuts
1 cup sifted flour
3 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 cup butter – cut in pieces at room temperature
2 tsp. Rum or Brandy
Confectioners Sugar for dusting

In Blender:
1. Add flour, nuts, sugar, butter and Rum. Process until blended, about 30 seconds. Scrape blender bowl down with spatula. Process again until ball of dough forms on blades, about 15 seconds.
2. Turn out onto lightly floured board. Take a small portion of dough and roll into a rope, about one inch in diameter. Cut into bite sizes and form into balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
3. Bake at 325 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Do not let them brown. Let cool for 5 minutes on baking sheet then transfer to wire rack to cool.
4. Put confectioners sugar in a paper bag and coat the cookies. Coat the cookies twice.

Supplies

1. rectangle wood block
2. sand paper
3. small nails
4. hammer
5. yarn

1. Drill a hole in the top of the block a couple inches deep and sand it. Paint the entire block your wedding color. We went with gray.

2. After it’s dried, sand the block to give it more of a distressed look. Sand more or less depending on what type of look you’re going for. Hammer the small nails in the wood block in the shape of a word or design.  I chose to write Love and a heart.  Be as creative as you want.

3. Cut a long piece of yarn and tie a knot around a nail.  Weave it around each nail until you spell out the word or create a shape. Tie a knot at the end again to keep it in place.

4. Place a flower in the top of the hole

fake mustache diy

Supplies

1. $1.99 Clay (I prefer Sculpty, but SIMO is good too)
2. $1.99 Wooden craft sticks (pack of 20)
3. Toothpick
4. Hot Glue Gun
5. Pyrex Dish

Once you decide on the color of clay you want for your lips or mustaches buy enough for how many you would like.
1 lil block of clay made me= 4 lips / 3 mustaches so I bought accordingly.

Ashley Rose

Lips:
1. Roll clay into a ball.
2. Flatten ball on a hard surface (I actually just used a paper plate).
3. Pinch the sides of the “now flat” ball, so it becomes more of a pinched circle.
4. Now started pushing the top part of the clay downward to make the lip peak.
5. It kind of starts to resemble a heart. Now elongate the heart a bit more to create the look of a lip.
6. Take your tooth pick and create the “smile” line in your lips now!

You will definitely see the smile line in photographs, so it’s the perfect touch to make it look like lips!

mustaches diy tutorial

fake mustaches

Do-It-Yourself Mustaches
1. Roll clay into a 2 balls.
2. Flatten out balls on a hard surface (I used a paper plate again).
3. Now you have 2 round flat circles.
4. Pinch them together and pinch the ends of them as well.
5. It will semi-resemble a bow tie ;)
6. Then go ahead and create the “hair” lines in the clay for the finish touch.

mustaches diy tutorial

Once you have made more lips/mustaches, place in a large glass Pyrex dish

Preheat oven to: 275 degrees
Bake clay for: 13 minutes
Let clay cool

Now just glue the wooden craft sticks to the back of your clay lips/mustaches. For mine I like the look of the stick being off to the side (kind of like a mask) so I positioned mine a little to the left! And poof you have cute props for your photo booth or photo shoot!

Here is where it might get a bit tricky but we are confident that you can pull it off. So, when you download the template here it is going to be reversed in order to iron it on properly.

Print it out on regular paper first so you don’t waste your iron-on templates. Then go into Word or any text edit program and type in your names and wedding date and reverse it. When you print it out, you can specify on the printer’s dialog box that you want it printed as “mirror”. Look under “preferences” when you click “Print”.

When everything is aligned properly you can use your iron templates.
