You’re Going to cry Colorado Elopement

not your typical forest wedding

Weddings are known to be intimate affairs, but this next couple took that idea and ran (or rather hiked) with it! Courtney and Blaine found that planning their dream day really didn't feel right with tons of guests surrounding them, or really any guests for that matter. Instead they took the Colorado Rockies and said "I do," on the top of a mountain!

We give you fair warning, you are going to cry when you see this Colorado elopement, photographed and filmed by Amber L Photography & SC Films. You can view the wedding film below and find every last tear jerking moment in the full gallery here.

What's An Adventure Wedding

From the Bride: At first, we wanted a small ceremony- closest friends and family, in our home of San Antonio, TX, but even that turned into us focusing on the comfort and convenience of our guests as opposed to our own.

So, Blaine suggested that we exchange vows at an intimate ceremony in Colorado! Once we determined Colorado was our place, Estes Park was a sure choice. A town with spectacular views, wildlife, and a call to those with a passion for exploring. You might call it an elopement... but we call it an Adventure Wedding. Our families knew our plans, and (most of them) were supportive in our decision to be married amid The Rockies with only the trees and the elk as witnesses.

A Few Hiccups & Happy Tears

The day of the wedding had a hiccup or two (my sash came un-tacked from the dress so we made a day-of run to a local seamstress & one of my optional hairpieces broke... Is that a sign for good luck?) but it truly was a day that we will never forget! I know people say that your wedding day is supposed to be the best day of your life, but for us, IT'S SO TRUE! Every piece of the day is ingrained into my memory like a favorite movie.

We had a first-look at McGregor Mountain Lodge in Estes Park where we stayed and it was perfect. Everyone should have the chance to see their groom look at them with the same amount of emotion as I was able to during our first look before we became husband and wife!

Hiking To The Perfect Spot

The day before our wedding we explored the area with her and Blaine stumbled across the most beautiful outcropping of rocks with the best views of Mt. Meeker and Long's Peak... and we knew that was our spot!

You, Me & The Colordo Rockies

The Colorado wind died down for our entire ceremony, and picked up again only at our champagne toast. The ceremony was sweet, intimate, funny, and tears of happiness were shed. Our vows were written on Estes Park postcards-- to be framed in our master bedroom afterwards! It was truly the greatest day, and an adventure that we will remember for years to come.

Wedding Tips!

1- Don't spend all of your money on a wedding. You'd be surprised what you can find if you think outside the box and don't search "wedding" in front of what you're looking for! (ex: I began looking at Bridesmaids dresses and ended up finding the perfect (dress) to order in ivory. It came out to under $300... you can't beat that!)

2- The best thing to do is prioritize the things you HAVE TO HAVE and then work your way down. (ex: When I was conversing with Colorado Wedding Productions/Amber of Amber L Photography/Andy of SC Films, I conveyed that above all, I wanted AMAZING photos and video and I would hike just about anywhere to get that!)

3- Most of all, don't stress! Planning a wedding had several hiccups from start to finish, but at the end of the day, a wedding is about two people joining their lives together so even the hiccups can make some PRETTY GREAT memories!
