Soft Summer Vineyard Wedding

elegant romantic vineyard wedding

Pop Quiz! What do you do when you wake up to 111 degree temperatures on your wedding day? There really isn't one right answer, although we do think this adorable couple did a spectacular job keeping their cool through a record level heat wave. Looking through all of the beautiful photos of this soft summer vineyard wedding captured by Marianne Wilson Photography, the only evidence of heat you'll find are the warm and loving looks between the bride and groom!
There were so many gorgeous elements to this Still Waters Vineyards wedding, not least of which were the flowers! Designed by a favorite of ours, April Flowers, who was able to set the soft tone of the day with truly amazing florals for the bride and her maids as well as for the reception! As always you can see more of the florals and everything else in the full gallery here.

From the Bride: Despite all of our planning, one thing that can’t be controlled is the weather and on our wedding day there was a record temperature of 111°F! At that point you have to rely on the expertise of your vendors and trust everything will come together. Marianne and Joe from Marianne Wilson Photography did such an amazing job with the photography that you really can’t tell it was that hot! A few flowers may have wilted, but the spirits of our friends and family did not, which made for a fun day that we will always remember.

For us, the venue was probably the most important aspect of the wedding because it sets the mood for the entire event. Having visited many wineries in the Paso Robles area, we knew Paso would be perfect for the wedding due to its central location and stunning scenery. Internet research quickly narrowed down the potential wineries and the day we visited Still Waters Vineyards we knew the search was over. It combined a beautiful setting with the laid back, intimate feel we were looking for. Kasey, the site manager, was great to work with and helped us all along the way.

We wanted the ceremony and reception décor to be simple and classic. The rustic wooden farmhouse tables with white runners that we rented from All About Table Tops fit well with the setting. The welcome sign was a fun project to construct and paint, even though it kept falling down during the wedding from the wind! We bought cheap chalkboards online to make signage for the food, drinks, and favors. As personal touches, we featured photos from family weddings and put the place cards in mini-envelopes so we could write a personal note to each guest; it was fun reminiscing over memories and inside jokes while thinking of what to write to each person.

The cake and catering vendors were initially chosen based on stellar online reviews but you should always taste the goods before you buy so we made arrangements with Jenny from Cake Cathedral and Dawn from Pacific Harvest Catering. Jenny worked with us on creating custom flavors and we ended up with a beautiful 3-tiered cake with pink champagne, almond, and Kahlua. The selection and quality of the food were very important to us but we had to work within a relatively tight budget. Dawn helped create a menu that fit our budget and incorporated many of our ever changing ideas.
