Allison and Jesse met on OkCupid back in 2021. They dated for two and a half years before getting engaged and hosting their lovely jewel-toned wedding at The Lodge at Malibou Lake. Because the bride is a pastry chef, and the couple are both big foodies, the food that they chose for their wedding was incredibly personal and intentional to their story. Keep scrolling to see how this super funky, jewel-toned rainbow wedding came together thanks to plenty of disco ball accents and the most delicious menu.

Be bold – go gold!
Allison wore a flowing gold and glittering gown from Flora & Lane with a star-accented matching veil.

A unique take on pocket squares
Jesse and his groomsmen complemented each other with the groom in brown and gold (with a colorful, dripping boutonniere) and the groomsmen in blue with blue floral pocket squares.

Lakeside first look
The couple made sure to make time for a private first look before the ceremony so that they could share a few special moments of reflection and joy before walking down the aisle.

Rainbow ceremony design
Their chuppah played right into their joyful jewel-toned rainbow theme with asymmetrical rainbow floral design set against a natural wood structure and captured on camera by Fatima Elreda Photography.

Escort wall idea: the perfect pair
Guests were welcomed to the reception with an escort display of rainbow heart-shaped glasses for guests to take as favors and find their seats for dinner.

Meaningful menu ideas
The catering team of Chef Cordelia Catering made custom dishes that matched Allison and Jesse’s favorite shared date-night dishes, and they hired Wanderlust Creamery (their first date!) to serve ice cream during their reception.

Color-blocked rainbow reception design
Because Allison and Jesse were filled with creative energy, their vendors got to design their reception ballroom into a color-blocked rainbow fantasy. Each table was assigned a color, and all the decor on that table was in the designated color with centerpieces courtesy of Nocturne In Bloom.

RuPaul’s Drag Race grand entrance
Allison and Jesse both love RuPaul’s Drag Race, so they made their grand entrance into the reception to RuPaul’s famous song, “Cover Girl.”

DIY looks by the bride
In addition to being a talented baker, Allison was also learning how to sew while wedding planning. She designed and made her second wedding dress for the dancing portion of the night. She also made a custom denim embroidered jacket that said: “Jesse’s Girl.”

Putting on an original performance
Jesse comes from a musical and comedic family, so during the reception, his side of the family performed an original comedic musical piece dedicated to the bride and groom. It was such an intentional and joy-filled moment that felt so unique to the couple and their story!
