Purple and Yellow Wedding Ideas

Like most, James and Caitlin wanted there wedding to whole heartily represent them as a couple. They also wanted their special day to be to be "green" and very DIY. With that mission in mind they set out to plan the perfect James and Caitlin event.
Every detail and decision of their day was designed and created by the two of them. From the type on the invitations (designed by Caitlin), to the last song of the night. The whole day came together with smashing success. Read on to hear more from the bride and be sure to see more of this artistic wedding captured by Pat Furey Photography in the full gallery

From The Bride:

James' and I have been together for five years, and started talking about marriage in the beginning. After one year together we began photographing weddings, and became intimately acquainted with the ins and outs of a successful (and not so successful) fetes. When we got engaged, we knew that we wanted to plan an event that would represent us as a couple. When we began planning, we knew that we wanted our wedding to be "green" and very DIY, so I set out on a mission to find the perfect space. While we adore outdoor weddings, we were both raised in the city, so an urban affair seemed to be most fitting. The Opera House was the epitome of the perfect space for us. Exposed brick and building materials, high ceilings, and a "green" building. As wedding photographers, we knew the single most important piece of our day (aside from our family and friends), was OUR photographer. Many people ask how we went about choosing a photographer, and I tell them that I did it like most other brides, I searched the internet until I stumbled upon Pat Furey. His modern, fresh style, along with the personality he displayed on his webpage did it for us.

Every detail of our day was designed and created by us, together. We made every decision together, from the type on the invitations (designed by me), to the last song of the night. All of our centerpieces (recycled bottles, jars, and vases) were collected by James, his brother Andrew, and various other family members and friends, and table numbers were painted by hand. Our extraordinary florist, Paulette (of The Urban Gypsy) was given free reign to put together floral arraignments for the tables that would be unique, and in season, using purple and yellow. Our goal was to combined the recycled elements with a bright, colorful "pop-art" vibe, somewhat reminiscent of famous Pittsburgher Andy Warhol. I took on a very long list of DIY projects, but every single one was well worth it. Some of my favorite DIY elements were the lighting that my Dad and James wired, and the "wild flower seed bomb" favor bags.

As I walked down the aisle, the string quartet played "Yellow" by Coldplay, and at the end of the night after most of the guests had headed home, we spun in a circle to "Sweet Disposition" by the Temper Trap. It was exactly what we always hoped it would be, and more.
