Ottawa Wedding From Anne-Marie Bouchard

Ottawa Wedding From Anne-Marie Bouchard

Up first today, we have a sweet and simple Ottawa Wedding From Anne-Marie Bouchard. If you are scared to let your bridal party pick out their own dresses and shoes, this is a great example on how it can actually work. We love how the groomsman cleverly coordinated their ties with the jewel tones in the bridesmaid shoes. Making a non-matchy look effortlessly come together.

From The Bride:

We had the invitations designed them to look like an old Carnival or Rodeo poster, and then I letterpressed them. We love letterpress and it helped to add that rustic hand-made feel we wanted. I made my bouquet myself with local flowers from the Byward Market in downtown Ottawa. I was thrilled when I found the lilly-of-the-valley which is my favorite flower and are normally out of season in May when we we choose to be married

We tried to achieve an overall feel that would suit our personalities and interests. We tried to make our reception feel like a tea at a country fair. We opted to serve homemade tea sandwiches and pie from a local pie maker, along with Pop Shoppe pop and Prosecco (okay, that part wasn't country fair, but we like Prosecco and we wanted to toast!).

I made the flower girls dresses, the flags (from vintage fabric I had collected over the years) and the porcelain dishes all by hand. The dishes featured lines of lyrics from some of our favorite songs, many of them love songs. The hand-painted signs were from a friend who is a Chicago-based artist.
