Mystic Masterpiece Wedding Inspiration

Art Nouveau Wedding Ideas

In an enchanted world of moonlit mysticism and wild nature, the mysterious ladies in Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces glow with something otherworldly. It is this realm of dreamy symbolism and of sinuously stylized natural forms that inspired Melissa Ergo Photography, Heaven Lee Burr, Crimson Horticultural Rarities, and Elle Mitchell's Art Nouveau photo shoot. They fell in love with the drama and coy of a romantic woman with floral crowns in Alphonse Mucha's paintings so you know this is going to be good!
This masterpiece of a wedding inspiration doesn't end at the bottom of this post, there are more spectacular images captured by Melissa Ergo Photography. So be sure to stop by the full gallery here when you are done drooling over this mystic masterpiece wedding inspiration. You know you want to!

From Melissa Ergo Photography:Heaven Lee Burr created a gorgeous crepe-paper flower installation. This piece was inspired by the cascading flowers in so many Mucha paintings, and was meant to be inspiration for either an altar or any number of vignettes, such as a gift table, cake table or guest book table. The piece is absolutely doable for any bride to recreate using crepe paper, fishing line and a support system (we used pine beams).

The goal was to evoke a moody, enchanted feel with a very lavish mood that would suit an evening wedding. We achieved this by focusing on rich jewel tones, a balance of elegant antiques and natural/handmade elements, and of course, a dusting of gold leaf. Moths and butterflies were our central motif, but we were able to keep it from feeling too overtly spring-like or girlish. We also incorporated cascading flowers, branches, moss, and other natural forms into our vignettes to evoke the earthiness that was so definitive of the Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics. We actually went out into the woods to gather the moss, ferns, and branches used in the shoot!

Although we wanted the set to feel a little bit classic/sophisticated, we also wanted a very fairytale like quality that comes from handmade and natural elements. For this reason we gilded fruit, walnuts and hazelnuts, hand painted the paper goods for the table as well as the photo booth backdrop, and made crepe paper flowers. Our cake designer handmade the edible flowers on the cake from rice paper.

The photo booth vignette was inspired very much by the Mucha painting, “Luna”. I dyed a drop cloth and painted a night scene on it to resemble the mood of that painting. It was important to us to make a photo booth that was elegant, mystical and sophisticated. We were personally tired of seeing goofy sets with picture frames for props. As props, our stylists made a butterfly mask and a bib necklace.
