Coast to Coast Wedding

pink and purple and succulant wedding bouquet

For Kate and Ryan's wedding day the East meets the West, coasts that is. They are both grew up on the east coast but happened to meet on the sunny shores of California. When planning their wedding they decided to keep it on the west coast but with help from family and friends integrated bits of their roots. Kate's brother married them, Kate's mom hand wrote all of the escort cards and framed photo's of Ryan's and Kate's family's decorated the reception table.
There is always much more to see in the full gallery. Be sure to check it out to see all of the details of this coast to coast wedding designed by The Green Ribbon Party Planning Co and captured by Annie McElwain.

From the Bride:Ryan and I are both from the East Coast - he's from Massachusetts and I'm from South Florida. But because we met and fell in love in LA, we decided to get married in "our" town. We searched everywhere for the perfect wedding venue.

We wanted a small, relaxed, outdoor wedding and reception and when we came across the historic Adamson House on the beach in Malibu, we knew we had found it. The original owners of the home founded the Malibu Potteries company, and the house is covered in the most stunning tiles in rich oranges, blues, yellows and reds. My brother got ordained online and married us under their one hundred year old oak tree, and we all danced the night away with the Pacific Ocean as our backdrop. It was a dream come true.

Our wedding was a bit shabby chic and a bit vintage, and there were dozens of personal touches that went into it, not to mention tons of help from our friends and families. My mom wrote out all the place cards and hung them on old shutters that I got from Etsy. All the flower vases were vintage mason jars and milk glass that I've collected over the years. Instead of a guest book, we got specially designed magnum wine bottles from one of our favorite California wineries for our guests to sign. And at the end of the night, we drove off in a 1957 Chevy that we borrowed from a friend.

Because we were basically getting married in a backyard, we wanted to keep things simple and go with a summer BBQ feel. Our signature drink was spiked lemonade and during the cocktail hour our guests noshed on chicken and waffles and pulled pork sliders as they toured the historical Adamson home. We both LOVE pie, so instead of a wedding cake, we had an amazing wedding pie and an entire table of mini pies, cheesecakes, and seasonal fruits.

There is so much craziness that goes into planning a wedding, so cherish every moment of your wedding day. We certainly did! We wanted our closest friends and family to come together to celebrate the amazing love we have for one another, and that's exactly what we got. It was the most amazing night, and one that we will cherish forever. So, the only thing left to say is: We Lived Happily Ever After!
