Kelly and Mike’s wedding was held at the gorgeous Mt. Woodson Castle. Combining vintage and rustic elegance in a perfectly unique way. The ceremony was held in front of the castle and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

From the gorgeous bridesmaids in the floor length purple gowns to the groomsmen in bow ties, to the adorable DIY “Here Comes the Bride” sign, every detail was in unison thanks to San Diego event designer and planner Couture Events. How cute is this lemonade stand? Guests enjoyed purple lemonade and could take their lemonade jars to the bar to personalize them with their own choice of shots or soda. The mason jars also doubled as favors for the guests. Take note of the cute lids with the couples thumbprints as hearts. Way cute!

After the ceremony, guests stepped foot inside of the castle to begin cocktail hour. They were greeted by escort cards tied onto vintage keys and strung across the entrance to create an adorable DIY cocktail welcome display representative of the couple complete with nicknacks, flowers in vintage bottles, pictures of the couple and family, and their moss initials.

At first our next couple was set on a destination wedding, but as soon as they saw the Monastery in Toro Canyon – it was love at first sight. This unique property in Montecito had everything they could have ever wanted: modern architecture, gorgeous landscaping and a breathtaking view.

Devon and Carizza planned this stylish fete in only ten weeks. No matter how many weddings you’ve attended, worked on, been in, or read about, there is nothing like planning your own. Being a part of the wedding industry is an amazing blessing. But being a bride on the other side of things, I felt a lot of pressure at first, mostly self-inflicted. With our engagement being a short 10 weeks, Devon pulled me aisde one day, hugged me, and reminded me, “This isn’t for the industry. This is for us.” Words of the man I fell in love with. From there, wedding planning was as purposeful as the gravitational pull of the Earth. We poured out love into every detail, because we wanted that love to be shown and shared with our guests. Every part of the wedding was designed to invite our guests to share in our favorite parts of life together.

Our logo and invitation suite was designed by Amanda, my boss at In The Now, my mentor, friend and cheerleader in this whole wedding process. Along with the entire ITN team, each vendor that was picked with care, people who were stoked about life and passionate about what they do – and it showed! We were blessed to have them carry out such a cohesive, love-centered event.  Devon and I walked down the aisle together, to reflect that we were entering into this marriage together. His dad was our officiant. We picked our weekly date night food truck as our caterers, to share that special experience with our guests. Our last dance was to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. Each choice surrounding the wedding meant something to us. Our wedding had a clear message to start our marriage off right and to share a very important message to our guests: love each other.

Rebecca and Greg searched long and hard for their perfect rustic wedding venue. They found exactly what they were looking for in Limoneira Lemon Ranch in Central California. The natural backdrop of  Limoneira Ranch‘s became the inspiration behind their charcoal and lemon yellow vintage/rustic wedding.

Filled to the brim with do-it-yourself detail. From vintage milk bottles, mason jars, pewter pieces, lace and dollies collected from antique stores and garage sales; burlap runners and candy bags hand sewn by the bride’s mother; bridesmaid necklaces designed by Greg’s aunt and a lemonade stand turned candy table. You are going to flip over Julie and Josh’s charming Tennessee wedding. Packed with down-home details and Southern charm, this country classic Tennessee wedding is a must see. We will say that the entire wedding is fantastic, but we love the mismatched vintage tablecloths and florals placed in brightly colored glass jars. From The Bride:

“Our wedding was outside of our hometown of Nashville, Tennessee on a private farm called Wolf Den Farm. We were married May 7, 2011. Some things that make our wedding special was how a lot of it was DIY. Everything from the flower basket, to the ceremony programs to the potted herb wrapped in burlap that the ring bearer walked down the aisle was all hand made. We individually tea stained each program paper, tied a raffia bow at the top and had them printed. It was a lot of work, but the outcome looked great.

Another special part of our wedding was the decor of the table settings in the dinner tent. The attention to detail was amazing. I love color, and wanted that represented. With the help of my mom, florist and planner, we were able to execute a bohemian vintage look without it looking like a country yard sale! The decor, colors and flower vases were all planned to a T. We even tracked down some vintage furniture at an antique store and placed them throughout the yard at the farm for a “seating” area. I wanted to incorporate mismatched china throughout the dinner tables, just to give more “pops” of color. My mom went around to every antique store and flea market in town collecting plates.

I also wanted to dedicate some time and detail into the flowers. I love flowers and herbs. Herbs are a great and affordable way of incorporating different colors and shapes into the floral landscape. The florist put rosemary, lavender, mint and other herbs throughout the vases and bouquets.”

Shortly after I shot my last Wedding, I realized I missed the Bride & Groom! I knew I wasn’t meant to be another vendor on a Wedding Day… working within someone elses schedule wasn’t giving me the experience or results I wanted. But the experience of being with couples that are so in love and oohing and ahhing over the gown and the shoes… and just really celebrating with them… I missed it! So I quickly decided that in addition to my boudoir and other portrait work, I would offer Bridal shoots, Trash the Dress shoots and Day-After Shoots.

A Day-After shoot can be not only incredibly fun (who doesn’t want to get all dressed up again?) but more often than not, it’s a necessity. Let’s face it. Most Weddings do not go as planned, most schedules are packed tightly and even when room is left for photos, the restrictions of where you can go are limited and the anxiety the couple feels about getting back to their guests can sometimes take away from the emotion of those precious moments together, creating portraits.

The Day-After shoot (which doesn’t have to be the next day or even the next week) can be a time to truly revel in your newlywed status. We’re able to choose the most ideal locations, light etc. so that you have photographs that actually honor how you feel about one another and capture all of the beauty with none of the distractions. SO many Brides tell me they wish they could do it over because they didn’t like their hair or they didn’t have time or the location wasn’t ideal… this is the perfect way to have photos with none of those issues and no constraints. It’s the BEST way to celebrate a new marriage.

All of the essentials were accounted for – including some incredibly cute Vivienne Westwood pumps, lacey bridesmaid dresses, way cute groomsman outfits and some of the cutest fabric bouquets we have ever seen. From The Bride:

Not to be cliche, but our wedding day was the best day of my life! It was sort of like floating on a cloud… it was just so magical. I couldn’t believe that our months and months of hard work was coming together before my eyes. Being born and raised in Texas, I knew from the beginning that I wanted a fun rustic style wedding with handmade touches. I’ve always been in love with antique shops and vintage finds so I immediately started scouring local shops and flea markets for pieces that I knew I could incorporate into our big day. Justin is a sixth grade teacher and I’m currently still in school, so the chalkboards, old books, and school bus really had meaning to us.

Some of the homemade details of our wedding included: ribbon wands, flower girl signs, all of the bunting and banners, all chalkboards, silverware and napkin wraps, the dessert buffet, faux photobooth + mustache/bowtie/lip props. We also painted or stained all of the frames to match our color scheme. Other handmade details that I purchased from Etsy include: bouquets, boutonnieres, table runners, and the thumbprint tree guestbook, and cookie favor bags. I was so hands on during the entire engagement and wedding day that my sister-in-law had to literally put a glass of champagne in my hand on multiple occasions and instruct me to relax and let other people help.

Other personal touches: We used the same bus company that Justin’s school uses rather than a limousine company. We had BBQ catered from a restaurant Justin and I went on a date to. We had a family friend marry us. We set up most of the decor ourselves, in fact, Justin did a lot while I was brunching and pampering with the girls and he exceeded my expectations! We had a co-worker bake treats for our dessert buffet and cookie bar. Since my mother-in-law has only boys, I asked to wear her wedding dress for some shots before the wedding… they turned out great!  We also chose to hold the wedding in old historic downtown McKinney, a suburb of Dallas that we moved to about a year prior. We loved the charm, history, and proximity to our house. Plus, being on the downtown square, we were able to walk everywhere all weekend!
