Retro Backyard Bridal Shower

So you are engaged and more than likely be attending your bridal shower. Traditionally, you will not be the hostess of this party but, it does not hurt to pass along some ideas to your bestie. Our dear friend Emily Steffan Photography captured this retro backyard bridal shower with the help of some fine Wisconsin wedding vendors.

Find fun retro wedding games to play with your lady friends. One idea that we love is to have your friends write down their favorite recipe for you. We have a great recipe card that you can download and print out by clicking here. All of the adorable paper goodies that you see on this retro inspired bridal shower are designed by Dena Swenson & Rachel Johnson.

How much do you love the escort cards. A perfect and easy idea to jazz up the table. A simple little  piece of paper with your guests name on it attached to a toothpick. Stick it in your favorite fruit like lemons, limes or as shown here in a fresh summer strawberry.

Another fun idea is to have all of your friends dress up in retro attire. It will make for great photographs for fun and festive memories. A few great websites for retro inspired dresses are ShopRuche and Modcloth.

Personalized Bridesmaid Gifts

While in New York last week, we really didn’t have much free time to explore the Big Apple. However, we wanted to take the time to do one thing that was non-wedding related. Thanks to the recommendation of our friend Amanda, we were able to experience LE LABO, which ultimately ended up being wedding related because we found a lovely gift for your maids!

LE LABO aesthetically is worth the visit. A modern yet rustic space, which surprisingly smelled pleasant but not overwhelming. A charming French women helped us pick out our fragrances. A hard but easy task. Easy because there aren’t a ton of scents to choose from, but hard because they all smelled divine.

After we chose our scents the French gal, Ophille, who – by the way wore a white lab coat and medical gloves – formulated our perfume on the spot. It all looked very scientific. She neatly printed out our names and placed them on the bottle.

So, in a round about way it became our custom scent. An additional custom label was gently placed on top of the box to make the experience even more custom. If you look closely, you can see amy’s name on her bottle above. How sweet to present custom scents personalized to all of your maids!
