planning can begin immediately

The wedding planning started immediately following the ring. Between blog sites and referrals, I was a researching crazy lady. Ultimately, I knew I wanted vendors that could bring my ideas to life and make the process enjoyable. I envisioned a day filled with beautiful details, rustic elements, and a fun celebration. I wanted our guests to have a great time!

keep your diy projects manageable

My top priority was to find the perfect venue and a photographer to capture it all. I knew I was willing to spend more on these and could budget carefully in other areas. Once a date was locked down it felt as though I suddenly had a million things to do and decisions to make. I saved myself a lot of stress by choosing vendors I truly trusted. I am a big advocate for DIY, but when you find people who are passionate about what they do, it's easy to let them take over. I left myself manageable projects that I knew I could complete; I made the invitations, ceremony programs, and the guest book.

incorporate personality

It was important to us to incorporate a lot our own personalities into the day, even if that meant it was a little less traditional. We served messy BBQ and my husband's favorite dessert, blackberry pie instead of cake. We believe every good party should include games so we lined up some cornhole boxes and had a couple footballs being tossed around. When I look back at our wedding, I see a day that perfectly reflects who we are together. We were surrounded by people we love and had a great time. I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing!
