The Alfond Inn

From the Bride: Thanks to a tip from a family friend, we stopped by the beautiful grounds of The Alfond Inn, a boutique hotel in Winter Park and it just felt perfect. The fresh architecture and interior peppered with contemporary art, that pretty glass-domed Conservatory, plus some seriously delicious food, thanks to the charming chef Marc Kusche – had us sold!

Surprise Him At The Altar

One snippet of advice is that while it's tempting to do a "first look," I would not have exchanged anything for the moment we (bride+groom) first connected at the aisle. Of course to each his/her own, but having had a lively internal debate about it myself, wanted to say just think twice before passing up that opportunity!

Naturally Modern

We just ended up defaulting to our favorite look for furniture, fashion, and design: simple and modern, but we also love industrial. So we tried to emulate a modern but natural look with wood, metals, mercury glass and soft neutrals.

We didn’t really have the stamina or vision to give justice to those epic DIY weddings. But we did add in small DIY details to try and personalize the day with our fortune cookie favors, signs, and photographs. But by far, probably the best DIY element was the spin on the photobooth concept, made from a set of repurposed, shabby chic antique doors by the estimable, mother of the bride.

And For Dessert...

The cake from The Sugar Suite, was a 4-tiered, rustic buttercream cake, set with fresh flowers of blush peonies, sahara roses, lambs ear, and white ranunculus. We chose an amaretto cake with chocolate ganache and vanilla buttercream to make for something a little more fun than just vanilla, but not too sweet.
