Kristin and Mark – Glamorous Cicada Wedding

Kristin and Mark - Glamorous Cicada Wedding

Kristin and Mark are a truly amazing couple, not only to work with, but to know. We looked at several venues before Kristin and Mark settled on Cicada, an amazing historical landmark turned supper club in downtown LA. It was the first location Kristin visited and even though she kept looking for outdoor venues, she always had Cicada on her mind and went back several times. It was the one place that stuck with her through it all and she was thrilled when she finally went with her gut and settled on it.
The stunning art deco architecture of Cicada features giant oak columns and a gold leaf ceiling, which provided a sense of drama. We hired Danielle from Brown Paper Design to do the florals with a glamorous retro feel to go with the history of the setting. From the moment we sat down with Danielle we knew she was the one for the job and could not be happier with how it turned out. Kristin wanted to go with all white flowers initially, but then we decided to add a pop of purple for color. We went with groupings of mercury glass vases and votives to give off a romantic feeling.
For the paper suite, Posh Paperie created fun prints combined with silhouettes to lighten everything up and because Kristin and Mark are such an upbeat couple. The chevron print was inspired by the chevron patterns seen throughout the space. We did the silhouettes of Kristin and Mark because the old feel of the building definitely went with this sort of artwork. To make it different we added a "he said, she said" with the couple coming up with things they each loved about the other and each thought was printed on a table number and all were printed on a giant board hanging above the escort table.
For the escort card table, we had a tableau of flowers, photos of the couple and a typewriter, which had the type-written lyrics of the couple’s first dance song for a personal touch.
For the dessert bar, there were mini desserts made by Sweet and Saucy. Mark is a big fan of sweets and does work with Sprinkles so we also had cupcakes and not only did the table look beautiful, it offered something for everyone.
Most Memorable Moment: Mark’s sister, Stefanie Fair sang a beautiful version of “Give in to me” by Faith Hill. Her husband Ron, a music producer, had arranged the ballad and spent over 100 hours to make sure that it would be perfect as the processional song. It was a beautiful entrance and many tears were shed.
