In Sickness & In HealthFrom the Bride: The day before the wedding, the groom got extremely sick. He has Cystic Fibrosis and had to be hospitalized due to complications from the disease. It was clear that he wouldn't be able to attend our rehearsal dinner, and we weren't sure if he would even be healthy enough for the actual wedding the next day.
Wes and I were obviously quite scared and disappointed, but we promised each other we would stay positive. We decided that if he wasn't better in time, we would bring our officiant, photographer, and parents to the hospital and get married there while our wedding planner coordinated our reception as planned for all the guests. We spent so much time and money planning a party that really represented us, so there was no way we were going to let it go to waste!
Luckily, Wes was released from the hospital just a few hours before the wedding was set to begin. Seeing him during our first-look, looking so handsome in his suit after last seeing him the night before in a hospital gown, was a moment I will never forget.
Perfect Space + Perfect Vows
From Kelsey Rae Designs: Anna + Wes we’re such a special couple to me! Their wedding day was perfect. A light sprinkle in the morning and clear blue skies by the time the ceremony rolled around. They got married in Green Acre’s organic garden and wanted the simple beauty of the space to shine. They vowed to love each other through anything life threw their way. It was perfect.
Your Vendors Make Magic Happen
One of the first things Anna mentioned to me when we met was that she had always dreamed of having lots of market lights. SD Socialights made this possible with a beautiful display of lights that transformed the space completely.
The incredible group of vendors they hired all came together to create a magical evening for Wes + Anna. Long farm style tables from Rustic Events mixed with concrete and wood tables from Green Acre filled the reception space. It was garnished with the most beautiful blooms from Organic Flora. They wanted to focus on the natural elements of Green Acre and keep to the organic feel of the space.
Keep It All In PerspectiveFrom the Bride: Don't sweat the small stuff. I know it's cliche, and we heard it 100 times as we were planning the wedding, but it turned out to be so true. It's easy to get caught up in the little details (I am not proud of how tough the decision between gold vs. silver flatware was for me haha), but in the end it honestly won't matter at all.
It was sometimes tempting to go a little crazy over all the fun details and Pinterest inspiration, but when it comes down to the wedding day, the only thing that mattered was marrying my best friend and celebrating with our loved ones.
