Love At Second Sight

From the Bride: "Troy and I met in high school. We had math together my freshman year. He was older by one year. We were acquaintances but not exactly what you would call “close friends.” We were part of different social crowds and were involved in very different activities. After graduation Troy went to the military & I went up to school in Greeley, Colorado. Two years in, we reconnected. ... want to know what happened next? Click here to see the rest of the story.

One of the biggest challenges of reconnecting was, he was stationed at Fort Irwin in Barstow, California. We hadn’t seen each other for almost 3 years, but he was coming out for Christmas in less than a month. When he got here, he came straight to my house. He met my crazy family & joined us for Christmas festivities. We got less than 20 days together and within those 20 days I knew he was the one. It sounds crazy, I know, I never believed people when they would tell me “you will know when you meet the one” either, but they were right. We started to date long distance. We did this for a full year. Within 8 months he proposed.

We planned our wedding within a little over a year. At first we thought Troy would come home for our wedding and then go back to California for a year to finish his committed time with the Army. Being apart made the wedding planning process a little different. Definitely more challenging. This included lots of pictures, facetime calls, conferencing in—but we were lucky to find such great vendors who worked with us and around our crazy schedules in order to make it all happen.

Friends of the Photographer

Our photographer, Hannah Pobar, and I have known each other since Elementary school. I had talked to her prior to meeting Troy, asking her to promise me she would come back for my wedding to take our pictures. When my proposal happened, she was the first one I reached out to. I cannot say enough kind words about this person. She is selfless, beautiful, smart, & unbelievably talented. She booked her flight to take our engagement pictures as well as our wedding pictures and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

The product she creates is unlike anything else. She captures the love & excitement in every photograph. She also brought along Kimberly Johnson from Kind Honey Photography. This was a perfect match. We were so lucky to have both of them on our wedding day! Pictures mean so much to us since we were apart for so long. We cherish them more than I can even explain. They capture memories that you can relive even when you are apart like we once were.

Get A Little Help With All The Planning

Next we hired Amy Pobar as our wedding planner with Tandem Events. Amy & I were in the same 2nd grade class. We were best friends throughout elementary school. Amy was so on top of everything! She had scheduled meetings with us to make sure that we were staying on track, she helped bring all of the vendors together, she made all the time-consuming calls, and she helped make sure every piece was perfect the day of our wedding. The best part is- she listened to every word I said! She made sure she had a great grasp on my concept and what I wanted the final product to be and made it happen so I didn’t have to stress the day of. I cannot thank her enough for all of her hard work! She is AMAZING at what she does.

Dreams Really Do Come True

Now I want to talk about my wonderful florist, Angela Rohr. She is the owner of Bella Lu Floral. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for this woman. When I was planning my wedding, I knew that my number one priority was flowers. I wanted a boho chic feel with lots of color and floral crowns. When I found Bella Lu Floral, it was the first time I felt like my wedding was real—it was actually happening!! I could finally see what I wanted visually and how to get it. When we reached out the Angela, she was booked for the summer. Crushed, I understood, shed a tear or two, and went to bed. .... but wait... how did she end up getting her dream florist? Click here to keep reading!

Later that night my mom had reached out just one more time to see if there was any way to squeeze one more in. She told her how in love I was with her design and couldn’t imagine my flowers done by anybody else (we had already had consultations and nobody sparked my interest). Hearing how upset I was and how much I loved her work, she decided to take on one last wedding for the season. I am eternally grateful. I could not believe it. This was probably the nicest thing that anybody has ever done for me! She sacrificed time with her family and within her summer schedule to make my dream of a wedding day come true.

She was fabulous to work with as well. It was almost like having a wedding planner and a florist all in one. She is an artist. She creates amazing masterpieces as visualizes exactly what you want. The fact she can translate every detail blows my mind. She reminded us of things that we didn’t even think about, gave us tips from experience that saved us money, time, and helped with stress. The best part is, she cares deeply about her clients. She grows close to them and stays in their life afterwards. The relationship is so important throughout the process. I consider her a friend to this day. I honestly do not know what I would have done without her. When people see my pictures they always ask who my florist was and there is a reason for that, she is one of a kind.
