Handcrafted Wedding in Vermont

lakeside wedding ceremony

Pony party any one?! This adorable handcrafted wedding at Mountain Meadows Lodge had lots of animals from potbelly pigs to jumping goats. Between the friendly farm creatures and the crafty charm created by the lovely bride Katherin, you'll be wishing for the same sort of rural romance at your wedding.

How about those handmade wedding invitations! Super cute right? Katherin is one crafty girl. She made almost all of the paper products you see in her wedding. So when it came to finding a unique gift for her bridesmaids she turned to the Wedding Chicks Shop. Our customizable totes come in lots of fun designs that you can make your own.

From the Bride:We feel so lucky to have found Mountain Meadows Lodge because it provided the perfect backdrop for what we wanted to do (the animals were an added bonus!). The majority of our guests stayed right on the property, which made the whole weekend feel just like summer camp! The staff there was also phenomenal - they truly felt like family by the end of the weekend.

I had been toying with the idea of wearing a playful, tulle skirt for the tail end of the reception, but I was so exhausted from planning the wedding that I completely dropped the ball and gave up on finding one. I've been regretting it since then, I came across a number of skirts that would've been perfect for the occasion - gah! Also, my wedding dress WAS really difficult to walk and dance in...which is why I'm holding it up in so many of the pictures! My seamstress kept insisting that I take it in, but I didn't want to because I wanted it to look regal and thought a shorter train would ruin the design (which I still believe to be true!).

"From the lighted path down to the bonfire, to glitter sneakers peeking out from under a wedding gown...to ponies wandering in and out of the party - this wedding, was truly magical. Just like you guys." - a guestbook entry from our friend, Tamara

THIS is exactly what my husband Colin and I wanted for our wedding. A bonfire! Ponies! Magic. Oh, and four kinds of cake. We really just wanted to have the maximum amount of fun with our closest family and friends, while being able to look at a beautiful scenery at the same time.

Crafting happens to be a big hobby of mine, so I handmade a lot of the materials for the wedding (invitations, escort cards, paper garlands, signage, floral headpieces, etc.). It was loads of work, but so worth it in the end. To add to the personal touch, we had our friend, Sogoal - who runs a cookie shop on Etsy called Sogis Honey Bakeshop, bake and decorate farm-themed cookies for us. They were such a hit that I almost didn't get to snag one myself!

We were really worried because we did so much of the planning and execution ourselves...we thought the whole thing might end up looking like a giant mess (we didn't even have a DJ/band)! But in the end, everything came together seamlessly and we were thrilled with the outcome.

Our best memory about the wedding was that it felt like a weekend getaway/party with our favorite people. We just happened to get married there too.
