It was a completely cloudless day when Mariko, Alan and I headed out for our engagement shoot at Discovery Park. While this may seem like the ideal scenario for a photo session, it's actually far from it... (if you want to wish for beautiful weather on your wedding day, wish for a solid overcast sky). We did our best to time our shoot so that we could have the lovely light that happens at sunset and dusk, but the tricky thing about that sort of light is that it only lasts 15 minutes or so. We spent the beginning of our session hunting for shady spots, getting warmed up to the camera (because no one expects you to be a model right off the bat), and playing with ways to minimize and make artistic use of the sun's strong rays. By the time dusk rolled around, Alan and Mariko were like old pros in front of the camera, and we hopped from one section of the park to another to use their newfound modeling skills in the gorgeous light.
