A French Countryside Picnic Wedding

A French Countryside Picnic Wedding

Even though William and Caroline reside in NYC, their roots are in Oregon and that's where they wanted to celebrate their wedding. The wedding took place at Historic Deepwood Estate which was built in 1894 and has all the charm of a century old estate.
As you will see, this intimate Oregon wedding venue was the ideal location to host this eclectic event. Described by the bride and groom as a French countryside picnic wedding, and we could not agree more. You really must see all the photos in the full gallery here all captured by Erich McVey. Read on to hear more from Caroline on planning a bi-coastal wedding.

From The Bride:Living in New York and planning a wedding taking place in Oregon posed some challenges, but it required that we have a strong vision for our big day. The best part of the cross-country collaboration was that even we were surprised with the outcome! In love with the natural beauty of Historic Deepwood Estate, we wanted to compliment the gardens with a simplistic theme; flowers, lights and our friends.

My Maid of Honor selected and hand-dyed the bridesmaid dresses and handmade their leather belts. I would have never known they were from Forever 21! Inexpensive, yes, but now priceless!

Our wedding was a collection of bits and pieces from of our family history, our loved ones and our own personal artifacts. A few of my favorite decorative pieces were my taxidermy mallard named Beatrice (wearing a straw hat and pearls). You can see her above looking pretty.

More on wedding decor: Particularly, my mother's collection of blue and white China and antique glass, that I have been enamored with since I was a girl. My mother filled each one-of-a-kind vase and teapot with locally grown, farmers market flowers and greenery. A few of my favorite decorative pieces were my taxidermy mallard named Beatrice (wearing a straw hat and pearls), a 1800's box spring my mother found on a farm that was used for our table assignment cards and three antique wedding quilts placed in the grass.

Valuable tips on planning your wedding budget-Miscellaneous wedding week expenses like drinks, meals, gifts and last minute purchases really took a chunk out of our savings for our honeymoon. My advice to a bride would be to be aware of the cost of dinners, celebratory cocktails, coffee and pastries for bridesmaids, a trader Joes run for veggies and champagne, an extra cake and a can of hairspray adds up quickly! Save a few hundred more for cushioning.
