Floral Filled Southwestern Wedding

Southwestern Wedding Ideas

Rather than favor one family line over another Mitra and Mark chose to color completely outside the lines when picking their wedding theme. Their floral filled Southwestern wedding with some edge is a colorfully alternative event that features a piñata smash and cactus topped wedding cake.
All exquisitely designed by Tealight Weddings and Events! Curious for more? We thought so. On The wedding Decor

I sourced carnations from the flower mart and my family spent the day before the wedding making ombre flower chains. The bougainvillea was foraged the morning of the event as I really wanted to have some at the wedding since they reminded me of my dad who had passed away.

We had our friend Chrystina marry us. We wrote our own vows (that Mark couldn't remember) and had a ten minute long ceremony that was filled with lots of laughs, trying to choke back tears, and my mom's cell phone going off.

On Choosing A Wedding Theme

From The Bride - Since I come from a traditional Iranian family and my husband is from the North-East we wanted to have a wedding that didn't favor one culture over another. We opted for a southwestern themed wedding as it melded my career in the country music industry, Mark's love of the desert, and our mutual love of tacos in one place.

We didn't want to use traditional flower arrangements since we wanted guests to have a take away that would stay with them to remember the day by. We used small succulents as escort cards and larger ones in compostable pots that were spray painted for the table decor. We had mini piñatas made in our wedding colors by Amazing Piñatas for the table settings as well as wedding favors for our guests.

Once we had the concept in place we begun adding elements that captured our favorite things about living in LA, we hired a mariachi to play during cocktail hour and brought in our favorite fresh fruit vendor to chop and serve fresh fruit as well. We made the mixtape for dinner service that featured all of our favorite love songs that played while we had chips, gazpacho, tacos, and churros from the Border Grill truck.

The pinata smash was something I wanted to do since we started planning the wedding - we aren't big dancers so that took the place of our first dance in a lot of ways and was a great way to relieve some wedding stress.
