Words from The bride

One amazingly talented family friend provided the flowers and another did the sweet table. My Maid of Honor made the amazing vintage mirrored menu and another bridesmaid of mine hand-made my guest quilt and signage for the bar. Every other detail from the "Happy Tears" box down to the tiny flags on the cupcakes was made by my mother and I.

I can't tell you how many craft nights and Pinterest sessions we had for a year. I put a lot of thought and time into this wedding because not only is it the most important day of our lives, but I wanted the guests to feel the love right when they stepped into the venue. We wanted everything about that day to exude love, fun, and happiness.

I think the pictures really show the feel of the day and every time I look at them I am reminded of how many amazing people were apart of making our wedding day so great. I'm biased, but I don't think anyone missed watching the big game that day! Our wedding was literally a group effort and product of the amazing people we have surrounding us.

Steal worthy idea

If you are a DIY bride like myself, this is something I wish I had done a better job at: KEEP INVENTORY! I crafted, pinned, and made décor for the wedding for over a year. When there was a sale, I also bought things like the paper straws for the bar, gifts for the bridesmaids, the favor bags, etc. throughout our engagement. This means that the week leading up to the wedding while packing and getting organized, I was finding all of these things I had forgotten about! My advice: make an Excel spreadsheet or keep a running document of what you have and where you want to put it on your wedding day. Don't wait until the week before and try to do it from memory!

Read on to see how much this hands on wedding cost. Please note that costs change as the years go by, and prices are subject to change. This is just one couple’s breakdown to give you a rough estimate on how much a wedding like this may cost you.

Venue Cost: Around $15,000.00 total (for 135 people and included food and cake and seating) All additional décor that was not provided by the venue was either made by myself or a friend. Most of our vendors were family friends as well (with the exception of the photographer, hair/makeup, DJ and cinematographer). As an example, my mother's friend was able to do ALL of the flowers for $300.00. The sweet table was also done by our family friend Despina who made the most amazing display as a gift to us.
A tip for brides on a budget: Put money into your savings in order to be able to pay for the things you want most that might not be in the budget!
