Have Some Fun With Your Table Numbers

wedding centerpiece ideas

When James and Liz chose to become English teachers in China they had no idea that they'd discover love as well as a new culture over seas. When it came time to tie the knot they decided to incorporate as much of their love for China into their big day as they could. With heart-shaped confetti cut from Chinese book pages for the flower girls to scatter and tables named with Chinese characters this wedding is a gorgeous mingling of two cultures that you just have to see!
This heartfelt day was beautifully photographed by Lindsey Connally of Luke and Cat Photography.

Some girls dream of their wedding day for their entire lives, I was not that girl. But James and I knew we wanted our wedding to be deeply personal, super fun and a reflection of our deep faith in Christ and what He has done in us and for us.

steal worthy idea

Wrap a burlap bow around a chair and secure it with a lose knot. Secondly take a few stems of baby's breath and wrap some floral tape around it. Place it in the middle of the lose knot of your burlap and secure. A great way to decorate  your ceremony aisle chairs cost effectively.

Photography and videography were so important to us both. Especially since so many close friends in China would be missing our wedding we wanted to have something to show them when we returned. Our video was done by Kinsman Productions a newly established video company based in Houston area who blew us out of the water with their footage of our day.

Our photographer Lindsey Connally with Luke and Cat Photography went above and beyond our expectations on photos. We loved them and have looked at our photos again and again to relive what we consider to be our best day ever!

Having met James in Beijing where we both work at a local Chinese high school, culture has played a big part of our relationship. Instead of table numbers we used meaningful Chinese characters such as Love, Double Happiness, Unity etc. to label each table. People’s seating tags were hand done by a friend, a shopkeeper in China.

When struggling to find inspiration for decorating our ceremony and reception I decided I shouldn’t try so hard to figure out what fits a wedding but instead figure out what fits us as a couple already. This was the best decision I made because my vision came together effortlessly after I realized it was okay to decorate with old books from dusty bookstores in China, James’ collection of old Chinese alarm clocks, antique bottles we gathered from Amish country, vintage handkerchiefs and cameras, and old suitcases I played with as a kid.

I think the reason I can say that my wedding was literally the BEST DAY EVER, is because I don’t feel as though I have any big wedding regrets. If I was disappointed about anything it was not getting to talk to certain people for longer, or missing getting to dance to a certain song, or making a S’more by the outdoor fire pit with my best friends, or taking a picture with my new husband in our photo booth. They are all time related and the one thing you don’t have much of on your wedding day is time.
