from the bride

When Jake and I got engaged, we knew we wanted a party filled with fun details for all of our family and friends to enjoy with us. Being the creative people that we are, we began immediately brainstorming what projects we wanted to accomplish for the big day.

With the help of our friends and families, and many craft nights later...our perfect day unfolded... well, perfectly. Looking back, I feel like our wedding describes my husband and me to a T...fun, creative, and quirky with lots of gold and glitter!

Save-the-dates are the first item your attendees receive. They hint at the style and feel of your wedding before you’ve even picked out your shoes. They motivate relatives, friends, co-workers and acquaintances to clear calendars and call up dates. Since they’re tasked with making your first impression, your save-the-dates deserve a gorgeous design and full-color, high-quality printing from Signazon.com. From setting the mood to pointing guests in the right direction, customizable, a high-quality banner will make the moment even more magical.

I know that this is a preference: but we had our girls in different bridesmaids dresses. Most of them bought them at Dillard's when the prom dresses were on sale, anywhere between $30 and $70.

Oh Snap! Are you ready for some chalkboard and marquee madness!

I own my own business, Zoe Lane Designs, where I paint wooden letters. I really wanted to incorporate my letters into the wedding and our own twist on the marquee lighting was the perfect addition. I'm still trying to figure out where in our house we can fit the giant 3 foot letters! Jake and I are not the only creative ones...my sister did all of our chalkboard lettering and a family friend did an outstanding job on all of our beautiful bouquets and ceremony flowers!

The venue didn't have a defined entrance, so we really wanted to create our own. I showed Jake and my father in law a few pictures and gave them some doors that my mom and I had been collecting and they created the most awesome entryway that we painted white and gold, distressed. It also turned into the perfect backdrop for our cake table.

I purposely chose a space that we could get married in and have the reception. I wanted one space to decorate really well, as oppose to two semi decorated spaces.

Another project we tackled was the branches with hanging tassels. We bought rubber tree branches and spray painted them with gold spray paint and made about 1,000 tassels. We felt like it was a good way to make the 30ft ceilings not so daunting, as well as not cutting the eye lines of any of our guests.

For our wedding favors we bottled vanilla extract. We love to cook and bake together, so it was a perfect way to share our hobby with our guests.

Since we had a chalkboard invitation, we used chalkboards for all of our signs. I painted our giant letter S white and gold chevron to tie in with our table runners.

Read on to see how much this wedding sign wedding cost. Please note that costs change as the years go by, and prices are subject to change. This is just one couple’s breakdown to give you a rough estimate on how much a wedding like this may cost you.

Budget:
My dad was responsible for $20,000 of it and the rest was up to my mom and me.
Total we probably spent about $25,000 total.
Venue: $7750
(included chairs, tables, DJ and alcohol)
Food: $5,000
Cake: $375
Decor: $2,000
(Between craft supplies, rentals, napkins, coasters, straws, etc)
Dress: $2,000
Bridal accessories: $150
Hair & Makeup: Free Officiant: $200
Flowers: $600
Photographer: $3200
Videographer: $750 (friend of ours)
Favors: $180
Invitation Suite: $400
Tips:

1. My mom and I are collectors (hoarders some might say) so things like the doors and buffet table was ours. Use what you have!
2. My sister is a hair dresser and make up artist. Lucky me, I got her services for free.
3. We used our family friend to make the bouquets, so our cost was just the flowers and supplies: $600. (We way over ordered the flowers too, so I would say we could of easily spent $450-$500)
4. I make and sale those wooden letters, usually without lights. It was a cheap addition I made to make my wedding space more personal.
