From the Bride:When Kyle and I got engaged and began thinking about our wedding, we both knew we wanted a wedding in the Fall at my family's farmhouse in Pendleton, SC. The home, known as "The Retreat", was built in the 1800s and has been in our family since the early 1900s. My grandmother grew up at The Retreat and had her wedding reception was held there, so it was really special to be able to do the same 52 years later!

Kyle and I got married on the front porch and had a tented reception in the side yard of the house. We both wanted our wedding day to represent us as a couple and be full of joy, and I think we accomplished both! My mom and I planned the wedding together and had so much fun seeing our vision come to life on the wedding day.

We wanted to do a bold, fall color palette of deep reds and burnt oranges that would accent the beauty of the house and the farmland surrounding it. I wanted a lot of texture in the flowers and for them to look natural, like they came straight out of the fields at the farm! Pam Rowland Designs did an unbelievable job of taking our vision and turning it into reality. We tried to stay simple on the decorations and let the flowers and the house speak for themselves.

Our wedding was everything we could have ever wanted and more. I could not have been more pleased with the vendors we chose and the work they put forth for our wedding. All wedding details aside, the best part of the day was having all of our friends and family there to celebrate with us and for that we are truly grateful! HUGE thank you to the talented Alea Moore for capturing our wedding in the most perfect way.

For future brides, I would tell them that if they are going to have an outdoor wedding, make sure they are just as happy with the back-up plan as they are with their outdoor scenario. For my wedding, I was lucky enough to have the weather clear up a few hours before so we could have the ceremony outside. However, the whole week of the wedding we anticipated having it in the reception tent. In my case, I would have been really bummed to not have the ceremony in the front lawn as planned. It made me realized how important it is to LOVE the back-up plan just as much as the original plan. That way, you will not be disappointed with either scenario and you will not have to stress about the weather the week before the wedding!
