DIY Flower Garland By A Splendid Occasion

DIY carnation garland

We have a super cute flower garland that is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Along with a sweet little coconut covered lemon cake on the most adorable purple cake stand. Both made from love from A Splendid Occasion! The idea came about when she saw the colors of the carnations available at a local flower shop in Chicago,  the mini carnations were the perfect size for a cute garland.

You can use this adorable garland over a sweets table or a wedding backdrop. Hang it from removable hooks or tree branches. These tree branches are actually from A Splendid Occasion’s Christmas tree that they chopped down in order to get it out of their tiny Chicago apartment. We love that they re-purposed  these lovely branches for something so cute.

Supplies needed
1. Fishing Wire or thick embroidery thread
2. Large needle
3. 50 – 75 Mini Carnations (might be more or less depending on how long you want it to be)
4. Scissors

DIY carnation garland

Step One- Prepare the flowers – Take your flowers out of the water and begin by cutting the stems off of each flower so that all you are left with is the flower. Repeat process with all of the carnations.

Step Two- Thread the needle – Thread the string into the needle and tie into a simple loop knot.

Step Three- Make the garland – Begin by pushing the needle through front end of the flower (the pretty part) and it will come out of the back end (green side). Pull through to desired length and continue this step with all of the flowers.

Step Four – Finish off the garland! Once you have all of the flowers threaded onto the string, tie a knot on both ends. Hang the garland above a beautiful cake or make a larger version  or the background of your wedding ceremony. The opportunities are endless!

California Ranch Wedding

Naomi and Paul chose a beautiful setting for their big day, the Walnut Grove ranch. With gorgeous open expanses perfect for pictures, it was the ideal place to start making their memories as a couple! The bride’s beautiful Watters gown from Lili Bridals, the lovely florals by Belle of the Ball Designs, and  the darling stationery from Starboard Press, lent a charming quality to the day while the overall design of the wedding by Mia Bella Weddings was rustic elegance at it’s finest.Trust us, you won’t wan this wedding to end.

From the Bride:
Each ribbon on our Chuppah was gifted to me from family and friends during my bridal showers. They were hung on the Chuppah to represent the importance of community and how each person in our lives has contributed to the strength of our relationship and our home.

To add some rustic natural charm to your wedding consider using big wine barrels to support your table tops. Easy to transport, easy to set up, and oh so easy on the eye!

I am thankful to say that there really isn’t much that I would have done differently on our wedding day.  The only thing that comes to mind is our grand exit. We had decided to do a grand exit using my husband’s 1964 Ford Galaxy. When the time came, the car would not start!

This shoot was greatly inspired by its gorgeous location, Palazzo Ximenez in the heart of Florence. A sense of history, heritage, and creative display are all there, in rooms with magnificently timeless taste. Taking a few cues from the opulence of the venue, this shoot is intended to tell the story of a day dream. Starting with the lovely gold peacock inspired stationary by Francesca Pulitano, the stunningly quaffed model floats through a golden glowing tea party  in an Anna Fucà Atelier couture wedding gown. The dream lifts just as we encounter an amazing array of wedding cake choices all beautifully created by Melanie Secciani.
