From the Bride:
Getting ready with my sisters, mum and best girls (one all of the way from Australia) was so special and something I will always cherish. I always expected to be nervous but I was SO calm I even managed a full English breakfast (a million and one lists helped!)
I was also SO in love with my Pronovias Paisaje dress – it was exactly how I imagined looking on the day. Quite understated throughout the bodice and then the fishtail skirt had some drama! I definitely did not want to take it off at the end of the night!! I also loved my hair – my hairdresser did such a great job with a few clip in hair extensions. Oh and my groom gifted me a gorgeous Anya Hindmarch super sparkly clutch bag which added the perfect finishing touch to my outfit! Now, whenever I use it it takes to back to my wedding day.
We always had our heart set on marrying in a church and the wedding coordinator at Andaz mentioned there was a beautiful church opposite which we actually hadn’t noticed as it was in heart of the hustle and bustle of the city. It meant that we would both be able to walk to the church and the guests would find it easy to go from the ceremony to the reception. As soon as we entered and met the friendly vicar we had a very good feeling and it was then I noticed the stunning black and white chequered floor which would go perfectly with my colour scheme. It was meant to be!
The service was so special. I thought I would be crying throughout the service as I’m normally a crier and always shed a tear at weddings but a strange calmness came over me and I just felt so happy! (I had heard other brides say this before and didn’t believe it but it was true for me!) It was a very special moment to have everyone you love in the same room. My good friend, Gemma, also sang during the service which was so beautiful and added such a personal touch.
I always had my heart set on a glamorous city chic wedding and London (the city we met and both work in) was a natural choice for us. I had seen the venue “The Andaz Hotel” on a few wedding blogs and I couldn’t wait to see it. It didn’t disappoint! It was the only venue we saw which in my head was the right mix of contemporary and classic without being too trendy!
I loved how we could have the drinks reception in a modern space and keep the dinner and dancing’s venue secret until the time came for dinner to be served. The guests descended down a spiral staircase into the grand dinning room 1901 with its vast stained-glass cupola and expanses of marble. It looked beautiful with all the peony table centres and the old school typography stationery on the tables.
I have to say the evening reception passed in a blur - I remember there being so much cake and reminding everyone to take it all home, chatting and dancing with all my friends, but most of all I remember the feeling we had when we eventually went up to our bridal suite for our wedding night. We were both ecstatic with how the day went, so happy to finally be married and so in love. I hope I remember that feeling forever!
