Mary and Steve were married at iCi Restaurant …which happens to be right down the street from their apartment in Brooklyn. The venue was first big decision made in the planning process. This super hip location was the inspiration behind the their wedding. Creating an event that was kept things local, intimate, and personal feel throughout the wedding. As you will see the entire wedding is filled with creative and personal details all thoughtfully designed and coordinated by our very own Hand Picked Firefly Events. Mary is a super crafty Librarian and lover of old books, so we knew right away that we wanted to reflect that in our decor. Her bridal style was soft, simple, and a little bohemian, so we added that to the mix, too. The result was a year filled with really fun DIY projects like succulent book planters, and book page paper flowers. We love layering styles like this and coming up with fun new combinations…like Boho-Library!
For our color palette, we choose lots of blues and yellows, accented by creams and pinks. The white walls and oversized picture windows in iCi’s dining room, were the perfect backdrop for all these pretty pastels. Flower arrangements in an assortment of vintage glass bottles, and milk glass vessels, ran down the center of each table. At the last minute we saw this beautiful bushel of lilac at the flower market and decided to grab it. We love the extra pop of color and texture that it added!
One of our favorite details was a really simple backdrop behind the cake table, made with fun pictures of the couple…both together, and as little kids. Mary and Steve each have a great sense of humor and laugh a LOT! The pictures that they chose were all so funny and personal- it was the hit of the night! It really inspired guests to make some fun (and funny!) new memories that night with the Polaroid camera that we set out for the guest book.
